Be careful. When I signed up with them they lied to me and they just lied again today. When I signed up with them I signed up for a year. I asked them what happens to the domain name after a year if I don’t want to renew with them. They told me it was my domain name and I could take it with me. After a year I was not happy with them so I went looking for another host. This host told me I can’t renew the name through them cause onewebhosting has a hold on my domain name. I called and spoke to them and they told me they had no control over it and that I had to go through a company called
. I went online and found out that these are both the same company and they do have a hold on it. Even though the domain name expired yesterday I can only renew through them. They lied to me again. I will never give them anymore money. I’ll just change my domain name. BEWARE.

I was with OneWebHosting for 7+ years. I pretty much just used them for hosting my domain for email. Never did much with the web site. The control panel never changed or was noticeably upgraded in all of the years I was with them, but it did the job. Webmail used an untrusted SSL certificate as did SSL on SMTP and POP/​IMAP. For $ 10 a month, I didn’t expect alot. I just wanted my email to work. But over the years, I started to have more problems. As an IT professional who supports network operations (and email) for my organization, it was fairly frustrating when I had to report problems. I knew the problems I reported were on their end from doing my own testing and diagnostics. Despite presenting ‘proof’ of the source of the problems, I was often treated like a stupid user. A few weeks ago, I hit my limit when I was continually having problems accessing and receiving email and being told it was my fault. One rep told me it was my email client and I was asked to reconfigure my phone email even though I KNEW it had not been changed and had been working for months if not years. After indulging his request and still having the same problem, I called back a few hours later and spoke to another rep who told me they were aware there was problem and it would be fixed shortly. It wasn’t. I asked if he knew why the rep I spoke with before (I remembered his name) was not aware of the problem. He couldn’t explain and said he didn’t know who the guy was! My problems continued for a couple more days and I determined that emails were being permanently lost. At that point, I needed to do something as I use email for business. Anyway, I finally switched to another ISP and canceled my service. One interesting policy OWH has is that they want 30 days notice to cancel AND you can’t cancel by phone, you MUST fill out a form and provide your control panel username and password. Not sure what would have happened if I had lost the control panel password. Once I submitted my cancellation, they charged my credit card the next day for another month and then promptly cut off my email three days later EVEN THOUGH I had 27 days left on my payment. In summary, they provide inexpensive service and it worked for the most part, but they could use some updating of their systems and security and their ticket system needs to be set up so all the reps are on the same page about network conditions when a customer has a problem.
