This place should be Michelin starred. Amazing ambience. Delicious fresh food. Great service. Love everything about this place.

So sad, because I like the remodel and the concept, and we’ve come here for years. Four of us went for dinner Sunday night, made reservations and sat in the outside courtyard. Table should have been better situated because the«bench style table did not allow two in our party to look out over the courtyard. We were also getting an unusually large number of flies and mosquitoes, which tells me they are not doing anything to control this problem. The service was horrid. The woman who waited our table was not getting appropriate help from the bus person, so we were not getting our table cleared. Our dishes sat until the next course arrived, which lead to a scramble to shuffle plates so the server could hand us our new plates. Bread came later in the meal when the waitress could get to it. While the server was courteous, she also seemed pressed and rushed, and disappeared for long periods in the kitchen. No extra water, no real attention, dinner took quite awhile to arrive. I can only guess that the restaurant had staff that did not show up, too many customers, or ran a very lean staff, all of which is really to the detrimental to the restaurant. Food was OK at best, but didn’t have the snap we expected for the price. Something was off here, portions seemed undersized, taste was lacking, plates did not seem lovingly prepared, and we left feeling that this place needs better management. Towards the end the waitress/server was complaining that the bus person probably did not take his meds that day, because his snail like performance left her holding the bag. Overall, we were glad to leave, rather than happy to have been there.

Have been going to Paragary’s since it first opened in the 1980s, and it was always a favorite. No longer, I’m afraid. This evening was my second time there since the remodel, and cemented my earlier impression that the new décor came at the price of what was once a bastion of good food and good service. The wonderful rustic bread of old has been replaced by fancy hard rolls that are just ok. Side salads to go with dinner are gone, with only larger salads in the $ 10 range available. The food is still well prepared, except for deserts. The desert we ordered this evening was a small portion of an almond cake with fresh apricots. Unripe, rock hard apricots. Then there is the service. Where a few years ago the service was outstanding, with prompt, curtious, experienced servers, the two we had for our last two visits were, seemingly, bored and/or inexperienced, and oh so slow. Pleasant demeanors when they were around, but service was just bad.

I use to go to Paragary’s prior to the remodel and it was always consistent. I went there with a few friends this past weekend and it was good. You now have to request bread if you want it… My personal opinion is that the bread should just be offered and we should not have to request it while waiting for our food. The service was good and prompt. The portions are a little smaller(I remember larger portions prior to the re-opening of the restaurant). The atmosphere is not very intimate or high-end feeling, it felt more like a bistro or open café, but still very nice. I will visit again for the consistency of the good food. BTW the outdoor patio is great!

Do you like being accused by staff members when you are trying to correct their mistake? Well, look no further than Paragary’s! Paragary’s definitely knows how to treat their honest customers. Our bill on the night we dined here was well over $ 200 and over $ 300 with tip. However, my friend told me that she kept thinking about the bill and felt that it was too low. A week later she realized that they possibly did not charge out bill the champagne that we ordered. She called them and asked them to charge her card for the bottle and the man on the other line had the audacity to accuse our party of stealing the champagne since we: «Should’ve noticed it when the bill came out» Look here, friend. It is NOT the responsibility of your guests to ensure that YOUR waiters and waitresses input items correctly on your system. I can under if we ordered one thing and a bottle of champagne, obviously we would know something was wrong then. We had a party of four, each ordered an entrée and multiple drinks. So how about you learn some appreciation for honest customers who are trying to help you out. Goodbye, forever.

Venue is amazing! The patio area is unique and there is nothing like it in Sacramento. Great place for a date night or special occasion.

My friends and I wanted to visit Paragary’s since its remodel, which I must say is very nice. We sat inside, but the outdoor patio has a lovely fountain/waterfall. Visually, they did a great job. This was a Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. We had reservations. Our first problem was the speed of service. Perhaps our waiter, who was a nice guy, had too many tables to take care of that night, but even when my friend asked for a beer sample to see if she wanted to order it, he was gone for literally 15 min. In that time, he disappeared toward the bar and I later saw him preparing butter and bread boards for other tables. He finally returned with the sample, but it should not have taken that long. Waiting for our food also took a very long time. Our waiter did not check on us during our meal, but another employee did instead. We didn’t see our waiter again until dessert. The bread here has a SUPER hard crust. It makes it difficult to cut the bread or bite into it. That is an easy fix, I would think. Then, we ordered our meals. I got the Pan-Roasted Mary’s Chicken Breast. Someone else got the Caesar salad, another the Garganella Pasta with chicken, and the last person ordered the soup of the day. The waiter told us that it was the last bowl of soup, per his digital ordering device, so he made sure to reserve it for her. However, when it arrived, he told her it was half the size it should have been because they didn’t have as much as they thought, it was watery, and lukewarm(which he said was the temp it was supposed to be). Each of the plates arrived at different intervals and were just ok. My chicken was probably the best, but didn’t come with any sides. At $ 24, I would expect something on the side. It was on a bed of morel mushrooms, farro, snap peas, and carrots, but that’s not a side. The chicken was moist, but my friends did not enjoy their meals due to it not being flavorful or lukewarm, or the chicken on the pasta being dry. Then, dessert. We ordered the Valrhona«Guanaja» Dark Chocolate Pave. All desserts are $ 10. This dessert was good, but not $ 10 good. The portion was a bit on the small side. So, while Paragary’s has a great atmosphere, I’m not sure I’ll be back due to the speed of service and the food not being amazing.

The outside seating area is very nice with the sound of the water feature and at the time I thought this was going to be the set up to a wonderful evening… that was until I received my meal. I ordered the New York strip which was a bit overcooked but that I could have looked past as it wasn’t that bad. The meat was infested in fat and gristle. I love steak and after I was finished eating half of it was still left on my plate because it was inedible. it’s sad when you have a restaurant like this selling bad quality meat for the price they are selling it. The chef should not be serving meat like this.

Venue: The décor and atmosphere is great. We got seated quickly outside. Very nice setup with the fountains and fireplace. Menu: Options on the menus where a little limited and they where out of one of the appetizers. The options they did have seemed very nice. Opted for the stake and some kind of blood orange beer. Food quality: The food was excellent. Cooked correctly and just the right proportions. Best stake I have had this year. All the food we orders was excellent. Cost: Drinks seemed priced higher than other places. Food was priced about average and actually you don’t mind the price after you taste the food. Service: Wait staff was very polite and helpful during the ordering process. The only negative was the we had to wait a bit longer than normal to get served and after food was served we never got a follow up to see if everything was ok. Other than the slow service it is a very nice place.

Holy guacamole! I can’t believe this place only has 3 ½ stars! The décor is fabulous, very Art Deco. I especially loved the funky chandelier/lights. Service was good. Well actually when we first came in it took about 10 minutes for the waiter to approach us but after that service was great. Attentive and informative waiter. So I brought my mom here to celebrate Mother’s Day. Paragary’s offered a special Mother’s Day brunch menu. There were fresh pastries for the table to share(all tiny which I appreciated) — a blueberry scone, a mini cinnamon bun and a chocolate brownie with cream cheese filling. There were four different appetizers being offer from which we each selected one. My mom ordered the chilled delta asparagus with boiled egg pieces and bread crumbs served on top. I opted for the smoked salmon with a pinch of pickled red onion, crostini and a cream cheese spread which appeared slightly yellow, I think they added butter and a smidgen of lemon to it. Both were delish! Yuuuuum! For entrees I ordered the eggs Benedict and my mom ordered the savory bread pudding with leeks in it. Both were sooooo tasty and served with a side of potatoes which were honestly the BEST potatoes I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! They were soft inside but crispy on the outside and were seasoned to amazing mouth watering perfection! My mom had iced tea to drink while I went with a Bloody Mary which was very classy looking. The prix fixe meal was I believe $ 35ish each, plus drinks. With tip the bill was around $ 100 and well worth it. I’d love to come here again!

The remodel is really super nice, the space opened up, great tile, chandeliers, and love how it now opens to the best patio in Sac. When we lived in Sac we loved this spot, so when it was closed for remodeling we didn’t eat there in the end. We were visiting this past Saturday, what a fun night. The cocktails were excellent, three of us started with the bourbon based drink, and another had the side car, all really good. There were 5 of us, so we shared the appetizers and salads. We started with the fried squash balls of goodness, yum. The grilled asparagus topped with a smash of deviled egg was a hit. We moved on to the best, innovative salad of the night, the sliced mushroom salad was awesome, also had the little gem and the Ceasar, all good. Our server kept apologizing for the slow service, it actually was fun, though we had to order another bottle of wine since our entrees took so long. The only problem was our server finally brought out one of the dinners, a pizza, 10 minutes before everyone else. They should have done better, you don’t serve one person ahead of the others. Other than that the night was fun and delicious. Two of us had the flat iron steak, mine was excellent, though one of our guests said hers was cold. The pizza was a hit with my brotherinlaw, even though he ate by himself. The chicken dish was very good, the salmon was really good, seared crispy on the outside, perfect! This is such a fun restaurant, lively atmosphere, friendly service, and the food is excellent. We sat inside, but with summer coming, make your reservation in the patio area, a true oasis. When I am in town this is my go to, miss living in East Sac, great neighborhood.

This was our first time at this restaurant and we were blown away. We truly enjoyed the craft cocktails and beer selection. We picked 3 hor d’oeuvres as a meal for two people. We had the cheese plate, the mussels, and the goat cheese pizza. All three dishes were delicious! I would recommend them to anyone. Finally, this place has top notch service! Next time we go, I am going to call ahead and see if we could get a spot on the AMAZING patio.

Excellent presentation, gorgeous and peaceful patio dining(under trees that shed — watch out — haha), pleasant customer service. I ordered the mushroom omelet and it was good — the goat cheese was not evenly distributed so the flavor hit me later in the meal, so that just threw me off. But the flavor complimented the onion and mushrooms. The seasoned potatoes that come with it were okay, not bad, just needed to add some salt to enjoy them better. I anticipated more seasoning. The banana topped french toast was amazing! I’d like to order that next time and I don’t like bananas, but the second the french toast hit my tongue, KABAM! Instant satisfaction! And I didn’t go in there famished, so it’s not that I was very hungry. Price for brunch was rather reasonable. I’m new to the area so I’ll be trying more restaurants before I come back, but I wouldn’t turn it down if a friend wanted to go here. I’m definitely up for exploring the rest of the menu as well. Go, enjoy!

One of the prettiest restaurants in town also has delicious food. The problem is the third and one of the most important qualities of any restaurant: The place has mediocre service. Our glasses went unfilled and for far too long. We were charged for every soda water refill(not mineral water) and yet priced at mineral water prices. I’m all for water conservation, but be smart about it. Don’t fill the skinny glass all the way to the top with ice and maybe a patron will get to drink water without wasting the ice that won’t melt until they leave the restaurant. I got some smiles from the employees, but I also got some condescending glances. Not at all sure what that was about, but I don’t need it. This place is still busy enough to survive for a while and it could make a turnaround, but if that change doesn’t happen rather quickly, it will be a sad day to lose such a strong concept.

Pros: gorgeous patio. Maybe the best outdoor ambiance in Sac. Fountains, vines, heat lamps, fireplace, it’s got it all. I’d come back for a happy hour or just for drinks. Cons: subpar and underseasoned food. Nice and delicately cooked omelet with the inside still runny but didnt really taste good after a few bites. Salmon salad lacked flavor. Irish coffee had a thick layer of cream on top that was only palatable after mixing it all together.

First off, I would just like to say I love this place. I recently went here with a friend and we had a great experience. We started off the night with drinks and a few appetizers. I got the brussel sprouts and delicata squash. She got the cauliflower soup which happened to be the special. Both ended up being filling and satisfying first courses. As for the main dishes, we got the pappardelle pasta and pan roasted chicken. The pan roasted chicken was delicious, juicy, and tasty. Perfectly cooked and not dry at all. The one thing I would critique is the bread. It was just a tad too hard. I understand some breads have a harder exterior, but this was to the point of chewing for minutes. The service was exceptional though and would make anyone want to come back. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a restaurant with great ambience and wonderful food.

Went to Paragary’s for brunch today for the first time after the remodel and I had a great experience. The restaurant décor is very nice and inviting, and the outdoor patio is perfect for the spring/summer Sacramento weather! The food and service was so good at brunch that I’ve already made plans to come back for dinner :)

Came here for dine downtown 3 courses for $ 35. We had reservations for 7:00pm but we weren’t seated until 7:30pm. We tried all the items on the dine downtown menu. The fish stew on the menu was more like a sauce. I didn’t have much to dip my grill bread in. Def it was not a stew! The best entrée was the duck and Pork belly. Their sangria was delicious! Overall, beautiful place and will be back to try the regular menu.

Top notch service and dining during our midweek lunch. A few new menu items delight the newcomer and the long-time regulars. Quick and attentive service happened throughout our lunch, from the front door staff to the wait staff and servers. I was sad not to order cocktails(this time), they looked delightful. We had iced tea and started with the Dungeness Crab Beignets(sweet corn, mascarpone, chives, piquillo pepper aioli for $ 10.) Then, a hard choice for an entrée… many great choices. Went healthy with Mary’s Chicken Salad(farro, gold beets, lemon yogurt, pine nuts, cilantro, vadouvan vinaigrette for $ 16.) Oh my, super tasty — and super healthy. My companion ordered the amazing panna cotta, of which I tasted one sinful spoonful. Vanilla Bean & Buttermilk Panna Cotta(apricots, vanilla croquants, basil for $ 8) We vowed to make the new & refreshed Paragary’s a regular stop.

The farm to fork movement is taking over Sacramento one restaurant at a time. I haven’t been here in quite some time and I don’t think I would have tried it if it wasn’t for the remodel. As soon as you walk in, the cocktail bar is very welcoming and reminds me of a bar you would see at a high end hotel. My family and I came here for a birthday and we made reservations for 6:30pm for a party of 9. We arrived 5 minutes early and still had to wait about 15 minutes before getting seated. My grandpa is 95 years old and was unable to sit anywhere to wait for us to be seated… The food here is just alright. we ordered some appetizers to share and each ordered a main entrée. Some appetizers that I liked were the chicken liver mousse hors ‘d’oeuvres and the wood fire oven pizza. chicken liver was nicely presented. kind of like a cupcake :) and tasted really creamy. yummy. The pizza was paper thin(which I like) and just tomato paste, mozzarella, and basil. simple! For my main entrée, I ordered the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin cooked medium. This was a bit too salty for my taste but I really liked the mix vegetables underneath though! The pork was wrapped with a very thin slice of bacon which is fine, I wouldn’t think it would be salty but when I bit into the pork, it tasted like ham. My dad ordered the Steak Au Poivre. this was incredible! I wish I ordered this. the meat is super duper tender.
