Ralph J Isola, DDS

Ralph is GREAT! He takes the time that any doctor should with tending to your needs, and suggesting the options. I’ve had to endure some major dental work over the past couple years, and its been smooth sailing. His staff are very friendly, and easy to talk to, and the receptionist has called me on a couple occasions when an earlier appointment became available. Overall, five stars for sure and I’ll definitely go back! Give Dr Isola a try, I did, and I’m glad!

Don’t be a chump Sacramento.
I have daily meetings that begin earlier in the day and continue till the whistle blows so I routinely make doctor/​dentist appointments as early as the receiving office will permit. We all know the flow at a dentist’s office; dental hygienist clean your teeth for the first 15 – 20 min, take x rays, etc. then dentist comes through afterwards to perform the exam.
Ralph must not be a morning person because I can’t remember a time when I didn’t wait in the chair for less than 15 minutes for him to come through the door for the first time that day (typically waited longer and he always left a visible grimace on the faces of the office manager and hygienists). My point, Ralph habitually and unapologetically wasted my time.
Is Ralph a nice guy? Are drunken sailors? Is his receptionist a delight? No she isn’t… But then we’re talking teeth here people. She does her job in a timely manner and frankly that’s all I’m asking for. Are the hygienists great? Actually yes. Yes they are. Should they jump ship? Yes. Yes they should.
Brass tacks: I was a patient with Ralph for nearly 4 years. I’ve been to every appointment on-​time, arguably a «model patient». I miss one appointment and get a $ 65 bill… for wasting Ralph’s time? 1^st missed appointment, a warning, a $ 15 bill, a virtual slap on the wrist, okay. 2^nd missed appt. $ 65+, okay. That’s more than fair. Everyone’s time is valuable. So guess what Ralph, I won’t be wasting anymore of your time or my money by going to your joint.
tl;dr | Zero patient loyalty and objectively disrespectful of their patients’ time. If they reduced my bill when Ralph was late, it’d be a fair, «two way street», but it’s not. If you think you’ll never (ever) miss an appointment and don’t mind waiting for your dentist, Ralph’s your guy. If you don’t want to be a sucker, look somewhere else.

If there was a zero star option I would have chosen it. Went here for years and never had a problem aside from slow service from the Dentist. My last appointment they made a major mistake and the Dr. never acknowledged it nor did he apologize. I guess keeping patients isn’t a priority. Your money and time are better spent elsewhere — mine will be.

I didn’t get a chance to meet Dr. Isola because his receptionist was so rude on the phone that I decided to find another dentist. He may need to do a quality review on who answers the phone because they are the first impression/​point of contact.

Dr Isola is the most over the top dentist you will find. Him and his staff make you feel comfortable from the start. It’s rare that you go to the dentist and this happens. Although conversation is at a minimum what little you do have is great. I have to give 5 stars to him and his team. Thanks Dr Isola

First I thought it was pretty weird that I could actually be made to laugh through an intense deep cleaning a few months ago but to laugh through a root canal was over the top. I highly recommend Dr Isola and his awesome team. I am grateful to have found them. I actually look forward to my next Dentist visit… who does that? As a side note… happy to see that the fake flowers went down the road and the first and last impressions of the experience, Janice and Brandy, they deserve a raise, accolades and lots of chocolate!!!

I give this place 5 stars because the dentist office we came from was not at all kid friendly like this place and the staff are wonderful. My daughter developed an infection in her tooth that put her in the hospital but afterwards they helped remove it. And she was fine, they did a great job at it. She still wants to go back, that says a lot for a 5 yr old. The dr was kind the assistants were too.

It’s hard to five star a dentist… mainly because someone using sharp instruments on my face is so unpleasant. But this review isn’t for me! it’s for our 1 year old who has a full set of chompers already. Dr. Isola and the staff are very kind, they’re patient with our little dude who just wants to run around the office being nosy. Although kids aren’t required to visit until much later in years… they are really patient with a newbie mom who freaks out about everything. I appreciate that.

I am new to Sacramento, so I took my children, ages 3 and 5, to a pediatric dentist that accepted my insurance. Though the kids had a great time, I was horrified by the work they wanted to do on my children. I was told my children had 17 cavities between the two of them and needed 4 baby root canals, complete with caps.
This just did not seem right. So I asked around and Dr. Isola was recommended to me. He saw both boys for a consultation. He was patient and friendly with my boys, and recommended a much more conservative treatment plan. Moreover, the amount he wanted to charge for their work was ¹⁄₃ of what the other dentist wanted to charge.
Yesterday, my husband took my oldest to have his worst 2 cavities filled, which the other dentist recommended for root canal. Dr. Isola filled both, and my son, who has anxiety about doctors, was happy and completely not traumatized at all! He came home to tell me that he can’t wait to go back and fix his other teeth.
They do give kids small toys for being good patients, which I have no problem with. The other dentist had television screens, games, and ridiculous goodie bags. Still, my son and his younger brother can’t wait to go back to Dr. Isola.
Thank you, Dr. Isola. You have really helped our family. We will be back.

I just had prep for a crown. I had rushed from my office and was feeling anxious. I haven’t had dental work, just twice a year cleanings, for many years and just felt like I couldn’t manage it, like I was going to have a panic attack. I told Dr. Isola and he was understanding, normalizing my fear, and patient with me till I could deal with the injection. For the remainder of the procedure, I listened to music on my iPod and literally was feeling no pain. Or anxiety. Great dentist!

Best dental experience ever! To start, I had no high expectations since my previous dental experiences at other offices were not so pleasant. I decided to try something new – and more than happy that I did! Dr. Isola’s office is such a delightful atmosphere. The crew is fun, friendly, informative, and passionate. The entire time during my teeth cleaning with Kitty I felt at ease and even excited about the end results. After this experience, I can’t imagine going anywhere else! Although I plan to move an hour or so away from Sacramento, it’s more than worth the drive for this type of service – what they give is not something you come across often.

This is not your ordinary dentist. Dr. Isola’s Practice is an extraordinary team. I went there a few years ago after one of his patients over heard me complaining about my broken, black teeth. I went to see him and talked to his financial coordinator. To my surprise they managed to work a plan out for me. Since then I have been back regularly working away at the disaster that was my mouth. I live in Nevada County and drive down to see them. They do an amazing job. They know my name and are very pleasant. Not once have I felt uncomfortable or like I am not good enough to be there, as I have in other dental offices. I will not be seeing another dentist. They work with me financially, and with scheduling. They call me and remind me of scheduled visits. I am no longer in pain and I can smile without the urge to cover my mouth. I look forward to going down the hill to see Dr. Isola and his team. It is always a positive experience. I smile proudly when I recommend his office to everyone. It is wonderful to have a dentist’s office that really does care about everybody having a great healthy smile. I don’t know what I would have done without them. What are you waiting for?! Call them already!

Dr. Isola is the best dentist that I have ever been to! I am very proud of my teeth and take excellent care of them, so I am pretty particular about my dentists. Dr. Isola was recommended to me by a friend and I have been seeing him for the past 5 years. I have seen many of the hygienists in the office and they are all wonderful. Dr. Isola has a wonderful bedside manner and explains everything and always answers all of my questions. My sister and parents now see him too and they also love him and his staff! Everyone is very friendly and make you feel very comfortable from the time to you arrive till the time you leave.

I had my first appointment here yesterday after being referred by a friend. I seriously hadn’t had a dentist appointment in two years (I swear, I’m a hygienically clean person, just super lazy when it comes to finding new doctors and that’s when I moved to Sacramento). From Jeannie the receptionist to Dr. Isola himself to Kitty my dental hygienist (and Dr. Isola’s wife!), everyone was SUPER nice. Going to the dentist is never a fun thing, but they made it a little less painless. They fit me in for same day initial appointment AND a two hour cleaning (yeah, and THAT is why you don’t wait two years between going to the dentist). Kitty did a fantastic and super thorough job though. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a dentist in the East Sac area!
