Everything you’ve heard about this place is true. Excellent service and great people! Brian set me up with an appointment to install my ARB Old Man Emu 3″ lift + alignment. Be patient, as they are probably backed up with work on other trucks as well, being as popular as they are. They were shooting for my Runner to be finished by the end of the day I turned my truck in, but they could not get the alignment done in the same day. I was back to the shop by lunch the next day with my truck, and no issues whatsoever. They even applied a military discount, and knocked off the alignment costs for me. Awesome service from highly experienced dudes. Came back after 700 miles for a free retorque, and check up as well. Will be my go to shop for any future suspension work!

I installed a rough country lift on my 05 wrangler myself but experienced some pretty bad death wobble. Brought my jeep to Brian at S&H and was not disappointed! I told them i was willing to replace various components if they felt stock parts were worn out or not up to the task with a lift but it ended up just needing a few things to be properly torqued and a couple other small finishing touches. Work was completed quickly and at a very fair price! Everyone i spoke to during this process was very friendly and given that they specialize in jeeps i will certainly return for future work! You can be confident your 4×4 is in good hands here!

I went to Brian with a laundry list of things I wanted checked over and/​or updated on my ’03 Jeep Wrangler, in anticipation of a move up north to colder/​harsher climes. I had a very tight schedule, it was moving week, but he was entirely accommodating, and since I didn’t have a second vehicle to use while the work got done, he even drove me over to the mall so that I could hang out there and work on my laptop for a few hours. I felt like I was in safe and ethical hands at S&H, and that’s so important in car repair.

The 4WD on our 2004 Toyota Sequoia wasn’t working at all. We took it into three other shops that all insisted the transfer case motor needed to be replaced, which is a pricey repair ($ 2,000+). After finding S&H on Unilocal,we took the truck in and they told us that the transfer case was corroded and just needed to be cleaned up to the tune of $ 400. They had the truck back to us the same day by 4pm and the 4WD works like a charm. We had a great experience and will definitely be going back for any other issues. Great job, S&H!

As opposed to some «big box» 4wd shops, S&H has always been willing to take the time and chat about parts/​upgrades. No attitude, just good guys and good opinions. Starting using them 20 years ago with my FJ40 and now again with my YJ.

This shop has a customer for life in me. I took my recently purchased 98 Jeep Cherokee Sport in for service after I bought it. I had a list of items from the dealership where I had taken it in for an emergency radiator fix before finding these guys. Brian went over everything on the list and then some. It ended up being more than the initial quote, but that was because he found things the dealership missed! Where at the dealership I couldn’t get the guy to check his voicemail, Brian text me at 730am with updates on my Jeep. Their front office is dirty and covered floor to ceiling in jeep parts and memorabilia, I love it. Bring your 4WD here, you won’t be disappointed in the level of experience and integrity.

I’ve taken my 95 jeep here 3 times now for misc issues and I always get excellent service! They don’t over charge you and there is a trust vibe that you get here!.. I found this shop because of Unilocal reviews and I’m so happy I did. Today I took my jeep in because of a squealing noise it was making and it ended up being an easy fix. When I picked it up they said no charge! Who does that? Honest and awesome mechanics that’s who!!! Thank you S & H!

These guys are great! I needed to have a lift put on my 2015 Tacoma (Fox 2.5 coilovers, 2.0 rears and an add-​a-​leaf rear lift). I made the appointment and dropped my truck off that morning. They had it completed on time that day and were even working with one less mechanic. And best of all, the final bill came out less than the agreed to price! Who does that these days? These guys are just an honest bunch of great mechanics. I’ll definitely be back.

I had an Atlas 4 speed transfer case installed in my 2007 Jeep. It works fine. It was installed in 2007. I have also had it raised, ARB lockers all around and new gearing. It’s a sweet ride and a great place to get any 4×4 serviced.

Called them trying to track down an obscure toyota transmission seal. Anserwed the phone said seal was not in but would track it down and have it in a few hours. Called me back said they had the seal. when I showed up I compared my old seal to the new one turned out it was the wrong seal. The person helping me asked if he could hang on to my old seal and would track down the right one. As promised had the correct seal in my hand in a few hours. This was the best customer service I have ever had when dealing with auto shops and such. I will be back to have my work done there from now on!

This shop is GREAT. They are fast, efficient, and they know what they are talking about. In a little under 2 days they were able to diagnose and completely fix the laundry list of issues my Chevy 1500 had. I never once felt like I was being mislead or overcharged.
I would highly recommend bringing your truck here!

There is only one thing that matters when it comes to an auto shop. Trust. Do you trust the service guy? Do you trust the work performed? Do you trust that they are not going to bend you over and rape you at the end of the day
I’ve been to S&H a few times based solely on the Unilocal reviews and my experience. This place rocks. It’s a hole in the wall kind of place but it’s run by two guys who you know just like to tool around with big trucks. They shoot you straight. No BS. Just good quality work at a fair price. It’s hard to believe a place like this still exists!

These guys are GREAT! I needed some work done on my Dodge Ram 2500 and I was on a specific schedule. They sourced all the parts in time and got the work done in a day, right on schedule!
There aren’t many proper 4×4 shops like this around, anymore… They won’t oversell you on shiny stuff you don’t need. They get the parts you need to get the job done.
If you are building a 4wd machine that needs to PERFORM, this is the shop for you.

S&H recently diagnosed problems with my 2006 Dodge 3500 2WD and repaired it promptly for a reasonable price. The rear differential had a bad carrier bearing which they replaced along with the other bearings.
Seth offered to meet me half way on a Sunday to deliver the vehicle, which he did. (I live in Napa). Prior to the repair, we decided on the type oil to use, however, I was later told wrongly by someone that did not have all of the information that the oil chosen was not the correct type. Seth explained that we were ok with the chosen oil, but offered to change back to synthetic free of charge, which we did not. This shop stands behind their work and I would recommend them to my friends. 5 plus stars…

I usually do my own service work as I was previously a mechanic, but since I haven’t moved all of my tools yet, I had to break down and pay someone else to do it for me. Unilocal to the rescue! I was able to schedule an appointment with S&H.
My truck needed the front axle rebuilt, and having been a mechanic, I know that shop markup on parts can be pretty high, so I purchased my parts online and took them with me. Unilocal reviewers were right, this is a real shop, no frilly waiting room, no fancy signs, and best yet, no BS from a service manager. These guys man the phones and do the work!
By the way, not many shops will install parts that you bring (usually because people buy cheap parts from places like Autozone instead of spending the money on name brand parts), but these guys took a look at the parts (Moog, Timkin) and had no problems installing my parts.
Two tips for my fellow Unilocalers:
1. Sometimes the phone doesn’t get answered, so might take a drive down there if you don’t get an answer. Also best to catch them after 10AM and if the door is locked, go to the shop door.
2. Google maps doesn’t show how to get to the shop correctly, from Arden Way, go North on Evergreen and then east on Calvados, then right on Green.

Great shop with mechanics that have been around for a while. I’ve taken my crawler there a couple of times. They can be slow at times and may not meet your deadline so be patient lol

Sent my Jeep in here for a little clutch work, arrived to see about half a dozen other jeeps all off-​road ready to the 9s. I needed to replace a plastic part (that continually broke) with a custom metal piece. Not only did they have such an item, they turned it around in two days.
Here’s where they get 4 stars…
When I showed, they grabbed the keys & said «& you have that 707 number, right?» (talking about my phone) & I said «yeah» but I didn’t leave with any paperwork… They had the wrong number down on my info & Google maps has a wrong number for them, it wasn’t until I was about to leave a 1 star review that I noticed there’s a different number on Unilocal,I called it up & realized we both had wrong numbers for each other.
Paperwork has its checks & balances, the work on the Jeep was great, next time (& I will be using them again) I’ll make sure everyone has proper contact info.

OlllllO this is a real shop… parts on the floor and jeep toys and items that will be older than you on the walls. I took my 2010 jeep JK there to have some welding and bumper installed for off roading. they did a great job which gets 4 stars the 5 th star is that they helped load my trailor up and told me i need a better ball on my hitch and if i got one and stopped back by the would just change it out for free… awesome. they do lots of jeep and 4×4 work… and diesel work as well i am 33 and they had some of the toysi played with as a little kid there it was pretty neat.
i think they have been at that location for around 30+ years and the owner started there when he was 29… ps no checks and they had a sign that said returned check fee $ 200 …haha
PS if they dont answer the door just walk around to the back off the shop and yell in… they are off arden across from the sacramento harly davidson dealer on a side street… cheers and happy whellin

I first found out about these guys back in 2002 after 4 wheel parts was overselling me and not getting my truck fixed. I have had my lifted tahoe fixed there a few times and even my ford ranger. I will be bringing my diesel there soon to have some heavy duty U joints put on the front wheels. These guys have been around for a reason!

I finally got around to taking my little1991 Toyota 4×4 truck in for a transmission rebuild and boy am I impressed! Not only did they do a fantastic job, but they did it fast (again) and at an exceptionally reasonable price. I feel like I’m taking my vehicle to my dad (even though the owner is almost my same age) as he always makes sure every detail is taken care of… I completely trust these folks and highly recommend them. Thanks Nick and crew! I LOVE having my little truck back on the road =)
