They don’t provide much info on their website about how their model works, but there was an article about them in the Sacramento News & Review that basically says they take a 50% commission on what you give to them for pickup every other week. I discovered this company because I saw one of their vans parked at a house on Giant Panda Dr(where I guess one of their satellite operations work out of). When I first joined up in early 2011, they used to provide bags to put your recyclables in. It took me about 6 months to receive my 1st and only payment of $ 15.00. They haven’t provided bags since(over 1 year now). You have to use your own. Plus, they are terrible at keeping you updated via group email. Sometimes you find things out by physically calling them. I would have to agree w/the previous two reviewers that said that this company is very diligent about picking up your recyclables. Unfortunately, that’s about all they do well. They are terrible about record-keeping. Most of your pickups seemingly do not get recorded(when you call them they claim that they are backlogged) as it has been forever since I’ve been paid for what I submit. I’m 100% plus positive that they are ripping me off as well. Do not waste your time(or money) with this company.

Good idea, bad execution. I had the same problems with Set it Aside in Sacramento as those described in the Tom S. review. I discontinued service after several months when I discovered they were not crediting my account. Like Tom, there was never any money for me! The promises to identify the problem where never fulfilled. I would avoid Set it Aside unless you like giving away you CRV and recycle money. Based on my experience, they will usually, but not always, pick up the recyclables; and they will probably never send you your money. One half star.

Great idea and concept, but terrible in action! I was excited to sign up last year, as I wanted to get a share of the recycle redemptions for all of the bottles and cans we use, but was unmotivated to take them to the recycler myself. Unfortunately, I discontinued service about 8 months later. Come to find out they had«tracking issues» and my account was not being updated. Thus, no money for me! After numerous inquires and promises that it would be investigated(but I never heard back), I discontinued the service.(Interesting to note: they were, however VERY good at picking up my cans and bottles on time!) I have not heard back from them to this day. Too good to be true I guess.
