Shawn L. Brown truly is «The Hair Doctor», and is AMAZING. Like any good primary care/​hair physician, she not only diagnoses and treats (damaged hair, breakage, etc.), but she also does preventative care (trims, conditioning, etc.) AND patient/​client education. As a physician, I understand what it means for someone to call themselves a «Doctor», even as a metaphor like in this case. The difference is here, she’s the real deal.
I came to her as a referral from a friend (because her hair was beautiful and I had to know who did it!). Got a BB (Brazilian blowout) and a trim– and a ton of new knowledge. Who knew I was conditioning my hair wrong all these years?! The Hair Doctor knew, that’s who– as soon as she felt my hair. The transformation after was clear but what really set it over the edge was the second time I came– whoa!!!
Turns out, I have three distinct textures on my head and she diagnosed that one section needed no treatment (BB), while another did and the last needed extensive work– smaller sections with the BB flat iron. The result? A homogeneously smooth, flowing, gorgeous head of hair!!!
Last thing I want to mention. Shawn has a beautiful spirit that is welcoming, calming, and caring– you get that from the moment you sit in her chair. Good thing she did training in counseling because I (and probably most clients) opened my heart and spilled my guts the first sitting. Now, I am blessed to call her a friend.
