The Brickhouse has live Jazz Jams every Sunday evening from 6 — 8 pm — $ 10. at the door — great music and different musicians every week! The art changes regularly — amazing displays in a cool, peaceful environment. They also have an amazing pizza oven outdoors built by artisans. Great additional to historic Oak Park.

Haven’t been here to attend a gallery or for the art on the wall specifically, but I love the layout and the form and function of the build, its an open flow of space, with the viewers and the art interacting in such a way where all can be seen. I went here for an open mic night last Monday(The Most Open Mic in the City, where there was poetry, hip-hop, rap, music.), and it was beyond enjoyable, interactive, great location for all the arts, performances and just to get communities of people together. It’s one of a kind.

I discovered this gallery on 36th St & Broadway when I went out exploring a few days ago, they weren’t open at the time, so resolved to return on 2nd Saturday and did. It is an old, industrial, brick building with character of it’s own, and is a lovely space for displaying art of various forms. There is also an outdoor area in back. The web site says they want«to bring art and art education to the community», «teach art in all its forms», and they provide a venue for new, as well as established, and would be artists. I enjoyed my visit to see the current exhibit, and signed up to receive email notification of future events and am looking forward to what is to come.

Went there on a Sat night on their percussion and pizza night. The pizza was great and the music was wonderful. If you love drums, flutes, and an overall sense of spirituality– you should go there on one of their events. It was good fun.

Gallery with quaint rambling sheds and buildings as studios for resident artists and assorted businesses. Yard with assorted half done building and art projects, so it’s not safe for children. Quirky place and people. Occasionally open, occasional exhibits. Privately owned, but lots of committees. I tried to book an event there, but after a couple of meetings and asked to attend more meetings, the committees and each of their agendas seemed to be in conflict with doing simple business, so gave up. Nice place to visit if the place has something going on.

I love the Brick House. It is an awesome venue for art and has a really unpretentious, warm & creative vibe. The show right now, Curious Band of Artists, is super fresh and lovely. It was really great to be there on 2nd Saturday, perfect music, twirly pink cupcakes, outside space…

When I moved to Oak Park this was an abandon gas station/mechanic shop eye sore, but now it has transformed into a movin’ and shakin’ art gallery. Located on the corner of Broadway and 36th street it is a fantastic addition to my Oak Park Neighborhood. It is a group of art studios and a gallery. The Sacramento Bicycle kitchen has a space there too! I’ve seen all mediums of art being made and shown here, from wood carvings and metal work, to paintings and ceramics. Second Saturdays are alive with so many different themes! I’ve seen South American Dancers, fire twirlers, and cool movies on the lawn! Dave Davis is the owner, a fantastic artist as well, he really loves what he does and he is building a wonderful showcase to share it with everyone. If you haven’t been out to the Brick House take the time to have a look, you just don’t know what you may see.
