I came to this Salvation Army location because my Husband had accidentally donated my external hard drive with every picture I had taken for the last 10 – 12 years on it. The Story: I went on the Salvation Army website and scheduled a pick up because we had a large TV and a large desk that we wanted to donate, but didn’t have the means to bring it down to the donation center, so they gladly came to pick them up. When they got to our house, my Husband hadn’t emptied out the desk, so he quickly emptied it out and let them take it. Unfortunately he didn’t empty out the one small drawer on the front of the desk which held my external hard drive among other things. I only realized it was gone when I got home that night and started going through my things. I freaked out, but they were closed, so I called them back when they opened the next morning. I spoke with a nice man on the phone who took a description of the desk from me, and went to look for the hard drive. He called me back an hour later and success, they had the hard drive and would hold it for me at the front desk! I went down there later that afternoon and had a hard time parking in the parking lot(it was packed!) so I had to park a few blocks down the street. Their office and warehouse where the trucks come in, is located right next to the donation center, but fortunately wasn’t busy so I was able to walk in and out. Thank you Salvation Army for coming to our house to pick up our donations AND for helping me in finding what I accidentally donated. :)

As a donator I love giving to this innovative organization… have u ever read the history of their beginnings? Amazing There would be no goodwill without these people. Giving here is easy i drive up and unload and I’m gone. Tax receipt in hand. Easy fast enjoyable. I even bought a cool ice chest here last time I gave… super good deal!

I’m writing this from the perspective of a donator. Every few months, I’ll bag up old clothes, household items, etc., and drop it off at Salvation Army. Some charitable organizations will only take certain items; NOTHERE. They’re always glad to take anything I no longer want. Haven’t shopped here but they seem to have a large selection. Always a half dozen sofas up front for sale.

I was very disapointed when I visited Salvation Army. The clothing is not hung by size, and not very well organized. There is a small selection of kitchen ware. However, to it’s credit, the Salvation Army has a very large selection of furniture, which I was surprised with. I would suggest the Salvation army if you’re looking for entertainment centers, bed frames, or TVs.

Yes, the manager can be obnoxious but he MOVES the products. I frequent this thrift store quite often and I love their sale days! I don’t know of any other thrift store that has the kind of sales that Sallie’s has. Do follow the advice and take plenty of hand wipes… it’s the stuff they have to delouse everything with. It eats my skin but you’ll find that at all the major thrift outlets now.

OK… I admit I am a thrift store junkie. I go to them all. I stop at the SPCA and this place about once every 10 days or so. 80% of the time I leave this place empty handed. I go enough to know that the same old junk is left on the shelves way too long. Most of the stuff is pretty crappy junk. And the store just has an overall feeling of being dirty. I hardly ever try clothes on there because I feel like thy are dirty too and don’t even want to be putting them on my body! I concur with the others about the very loud mouthed manager! And while the other cashiers are friendly, they seem like they came from some half way house and some can barely work the register. So, I have to say that this is really one of the funkiest thrift stores in Sacramento. They do have good sales on furniture, but that is something I never buy at at thrift store, so I am not interested in that. If you are… great. they have a lot and the only time to get it is when it’s half price. Other wise… if you want to look at junk for sale, this is the place! PS: if they do happen to get anything halfway vintage or good they put in the«Boutique“and charge too much for it!

Customer service — awful. The manager is one of the most loud, obnoxious, annoying men I’ve had the displeasure of being around. I’ve seen mothers usher their children out of the store because of him. I’ve seen him accuse a little old lady of switching tags on Bric-A-Brac items. I’ve heard him bellow about«parties, bro» to employees all the way across the warehouse. I’ve heard him gossiping about customers who’ve just left. I’ve seen stained, ripped, smelly, awful clothing. Broken office chairs priced higher than retail. Target brand clothing in the«boutique» section. Stained lingerie. Arm yourself with bottles and bottles of hand sanitizer. So why am I giving it 4 out of 5 stars? Sales! Sales every single day! If you’re lucky(or if you happen to check the new Facebook page) you’ll end up at Salvation Army on 99 Cent Clothing day, which occurs 2 – 4 times per month(other sales include 30% off furniture, 50% off bric-à-brac, 25% off clothing). Your standard, everyday pricetags aren’t always so great but there are two or three 99 cent racks(lovely if you’ve got sewing skills). But sale days make it all worth it.

Odor of urine once: Oh my, someone had an accident. Poor dear. Odor of urine twice: A mop and some vinegar would take care of that… Odor of urine three times: A bargain ceases to be a bargain when it’s been splashed by a stranger’s urine… and I’ve yet to find a bargain here, anyway.

I am issuing this review as a warning: be prepared for dinginess, a few possible vagrants and the occasional waft of urine. That being said; I have scored some amazing finds at this place, including a red patent leather Franco Sarto purse for 5 $ and an amazing vintage coffee table for 30 $, but for the most part the items are waaay overpriced. Go on sale days and be prepared to encounter some germs; this store is for the truly adventurous hunter who comes armed with hand sanitizer, pepper spray and a dash of luck, for good measure.

I’m willing to put up with a lot for cheap stuff. The staff at this store varies. The guy who appears to be the manager communicates mostly in bellows and appears to spend most of his time berating the employees. I suspect he ran a Nike sweatshop and spent his days beating ten year old girls with shoes in his prior career before scoring this sweet gig at the thrift shop up the road from the homeless shelter. The rest of the employees are great, really funny and friendly and very nice. I feel terrible for them. The merchandise? The usual thrift shop mix of great stuff, meh stuff and stuff fit for burning, and prices that are about average for thrift stores. What makes this place worth it are the sales. They run ½ off sales frequently, and«all the clothing you can stuff in this bag for $ 20» sales once a week or so. I haven’t figured out any cycle to when they run the sales, but if you live or work in the area it’s not terribly difficult to keep your eye out for which sale sign is out front. If they ditch the angry redneck sweatshop manager and put the radio on something other than«new country» or at least turn it down, I’ll give them another star.

Do NOT make me listen to a Christian-pop cover version of «Because You Loved Me» while I rifle through your overpriced, incredibly poor selection of 3rd-generation dregs of cast-offs. And don’t think that because you now carry«new» furniture, you’re an upscale thrift shop. Never mind. Do what you want. I’m going across the street to the SPCA Thrift Store. It may be a little smelly, but at least they understand the concept of «thrift».

I’m no stickler for cleanliness, but this Salvation Army makes me shudder a little bit. I didn’t feel like they had much in terms of nice or interesting clothing, just a lot of tapered jeans and sweatshirts. And, after flipping through everything I felt like I should soak my hands in Lysol.
