UYE at the IHT | Warm Summer Days Cool Libations and Conversatio

A HUGE «Thank You» goes out to Lucy M for her AMAZING UYE at Iron Horse Tavern! Currently the new «place to be» in Sacramento, I don’t know how she pulled off reserving TWO super comfy and spacious booths for our large party but she did! We even had our own dedicated server so that we did not have to go to the bar and wait around every time we wanted to order something. Yes!
In typical Jenni fashion I arrived super early (no ones going to stop me from getting the party started) so I was able to hangout with Lucy, Karen and Ken before everyone else got there. A special thank you to them for scrambling for change so I could feed my hungry parking meter outside! Grr…
I really enjoyed hanging out with some of my favorite Unilocalers; Lucy M, Evangelina R, William L, Karen and Ken K, John H, Jenny P, Jessica L and Michelangelo S but also meeting some new (to me) Unilocalers like Tuan and Vickie G! I enjoyed mingling between the two booths because it made it really easy to talk to everyone.
The food was tasty, the service was great, the atmosphere was alive and the parking was easy. What more could I ask for? I will definitely be coming back to Iron Horse Tavern to try more of their food. They have a great Happy Hour with reasonable prices, but I have heard their brunch is pretty good as well.
Thank you again Lucy for an amazing night (which we ended up finishing off at Shady Lady afterward)… When’s the next one? :)

I feel a little guilty. A little late writing this review of Lucy M’s UYE. Then again, she wrote hers yesterday. I’m good. I take no responsibility for the missing «n» in the title word ‘Conversatio” — it’s Latin; a third declension of ‘converso’ and interpreted as a way of life, conduct or behavior.
This was my first exposure to IHT and appreciate Lucy making a point to pick this relatively new restaurant and bar to share with fellow Unilocalers as her first UYE. Met up with some of our regular Unilocal peeps and loved meeting some new comers as well.
The eats purchased by some looked delicious (I had none. except a couple fries) — pretzel, chicken, mac n cheese, fried pickles, and more. The drinks were good and happy hour priced. The round of Fireball shots brought the cameras out! Wait… there were Tequila shots too. We were treated to some fabulous looking deserts, as well — french toast, hoho’s but not hoho’s, and pineapple cake stuff.
I believe a good time was had by all and I know a good time was had by me. Thank You Lucy M for arranging this fun UYE.

Although I have dined at the IHT several times in the past, this friendly Unilocal meet up was extra special for me as it was the fist time I had the honor to plan and host an unofficial event for our Sacramento community. The premise of this event was simply to meet up with the yeeps and enjoy great conversations, drink refreshing beverages, while dining on really tasty food.
I arrived early to greet Unilocalers as they arrived, and was relieved when Karen K walked up to me with an awesome smile on her face. It was so fun to meet so many friendly people in person. Karen, Ken and I sat in the first large booth in the bar area and enjoyed a few snacks and beverages off the happy hour menu. During happy hour snacks are ½ off, and that does not mean that they are traditional «mini-​me» happy hour sized. The serving sizes of all happy hour snacks are quite generous. I love… love… love the brandy fried chicken nuggets. These chicken nuggets are of a size greater than average and they are served on a bed of (skin on) lightly seasoned fries. And the pizza that Karen and Ken ordered was enough for 3– 4 people.
This event turned out to be so much fun! I would like to thank everyone who showed up as without you the funness would never happened, nd BTW your are so Unilocalin awesome!!.
Lastly I would like to thank Katie for her patience and understanding in answering the bazillion questions I had… I’m pretty sure I was becoming extremely redundant with that. And I would like to Mr. Colin W., IHT night manager who was so accommodating to all of our Unilocalish needs. Colin provided us with «VIP» reserved seating in the first two booths in the bar area in addition to a dedicated cocktail server named Hayden.

This UYE at Iron Horse Taven is the best UYE I’ve ever visited! Lucy M, who created this fascinating UYE weeks ago, has done it! We did greated with awe as I saw Jessica L, Quan, Karen and Kenneth K, Michelangelo S, John H, Jenni T, Jenny P, and the rest came by, and I ecstaticed to meet them!
Lucy and the rest did ordered the pretzel, the talipia nachos, and fascinating desserts like the strawberry French toast. So far, their foods from IHT are very good! The drinks are very well received from cocktails to local brewery beers.
We did made an amazing conversation on a busy Thursday night on 7÷23÷2015. The crowd was jam packed as the work days are over. We did made some good jokes and stories on what just happened. We did have a great time here meeting new and familiar people inside at IHT.
In the end, Lucy M’s UYE at Iron Horse Tavern is one of the best UYE experiences I’ve ever participated! Thank you Lucy M for making it a success!

Lucy, you are a doll. This event was killer. Our girl pulled out all the stops. We had two reserved booths with plenty of room, which was great thinking since this place was hopping at 5:30 when I moseyed in. Iron Horse just opened not too long ago, and boasts happy hour drinks, delicious appetizers with Southern flair, a roomy rectangular bar area, and I noticed gorgeous interior space and chill patio space both with plenty of seating. Even the bathrooms look more like some kind of hotel lobby.
Our designated server, Hayden, was AMAZING! Whatever they pay her, it isn’t enough. We were offered free desserts from the extensive menu, and pretty much went nuts. I ordered the red velvet ho hos and could barely finish one. Fan-freakin’-tastic! I also tried the Mustang Sally cocktail and the Mac n Cheese trio (For $ 10 you get to try 3 of the 8 flavors!) with Jalapeño, Basil Pesto, and the Classic Mac, which was my fave of the 3. Yum!
There was a great turnout! I met a bunch of new people this time around. Afterwards, we continued the party over at the famous Shady Lady. Good times!

For my first event this was amazing. The people were very welcoming and friendly. My name is stewart and I was so happy to meet everyone there.

Our unofficial Unilocal Event was held at the newly opened Iron Horse Tavern. This was the first unofficial event I had attended since becoming a Unilocal member. Knowing that parking might be an issue, my wife and I left the house a little early hoping to snag a close parking space. We were able to find parking directly in front of the restaurant. How lucky can we get!
The event was scheduled to start around 5:30pm and last to 7:30pm.
We got there a little, ok a lot early and waited for other members to arrive.
Expecting a large group of people to arrive shortly, two booths were reserved for the event. Happy hour prices were still in effect so our combination pizza was one half the regular price. Right on ! Everyone tried everyone’s else’s appetizer because the portions were more than one person can eat. We tried the tuna poke nachos, fried pickles and onions, and the brandy fried chicken nuggets. Everything was delicious!
We were thrilled to hear that management was giving us free desserts.
My wife had the Stuffed French Toast and I ordered the Coconut pineapple upside down cake. Everyone was having a marvelous time! I am glad we were able to make this event!

What a totally fun night! Happy hour at the iron horse Tavern is sensational. They do have some very good happy hour specials including half off appetizers and discounts on beer, wine and handcrafted cocktails. Once again I got the fried stuff… Pickles and onions deep-​fried with a delicious aioli on the side. I tried the ahi tuna nachos, delicious, sampled the brandy fried chicken and fries, greasy but really tasty, and drooled over the huge pretzel with three dipping sauces.
The always fun and Unilocalalicious Lucy hosted this event. Thank you Lucy for arranging the reserved booths and the insanely incredible desserts. In addition, our server was amazing! She made sure our drinks were always filled, our food hot and fresh, our table cleared, and even did a ton of separate checks. What a sweetheart!
IHT was packed, but the staff was super friendly. Sitting in the comfortable booth, I had a chance to visit with my awesome Unilocal buddies. Many thanks to those who helped me relax after a stressful day of work.

Thanks Lucy for setting up this awesome unofficial Unilocal event at the highly acclaimed IHT establishment!!! We got here early to eat their tasty flatbread like combo pizza. It was a great choice as it was still HH prices. I also ordered the watermelon fizz drink that had no alcohol but it was yummy & fruity. Wouldn’t have mind drinking that the rest of my life!
Got to meet some new to me Unilocal Eliters like Tuan, Jessica, Jenny P, Michelangelo as well as seeing again Jenni T, John H, William L and also meeting Vicki G. Also was a treat to try Tuan’s poke nachos. Those were amazing!!!
We got treated dessert by the establishment so I ordered the stuffed French toast; hubby ordered the coconut-​pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream. Now that was heavenly. After eating so much I had to stand up and mingle around. Got too full from just sitting around! Also tried Vickie’s beignets… that was also delish!

* The Deep-​fried pickles are always a treat
* The Deep-​Fried Onions were Amazeballz!
* The Deep-​Fried Chicken (notice there’s a «theme» with deep-​fried?) was scrumptious!
* Then came the Mac & Cheese Trio, with different kinds; Classic, Basil & Jalapeño, Olé!

And to top it off, Stuffed Waffles with Ice Cream & BlueBerries & Strawberries with a Caramel Sauce!
