Food is delish. But line up and wait is frigging ridiculous! Over an hour and a half wait is not worth the food. Sorry but it just isn’t worth it.

I ordered a chicken burrito. It was huge, however it was not the best. Cannot beat oscars Mexican food. I would not go back there again

Pork stomach taco was tender and flavorful. Big David’s mulita special was delicious. For $ 9 the portion was small since it was about the same size as a burrito. The red salsa had an interesting flavor. Green salsa was good. Service is great.

Service was terrible. Appetizer was delivered after the main course. Both the green salsa in the red salsa lacked flavor. Neither were very spicy. Chicken tostada tasted good. Unfortunately the service does not match the food.

Came here today for lunch with my coworkers for my first time. I ordered mini cheese quesadillas with sour cream, guacamole and salsa on the side. 3 of us at the table got the same thing and my salsa was 90% cilantro and onion and theirs were 90% tomato. It was a little weird! The food came out quick and it was delicious. We had 5 people and were sat at a booth that fits 4. The waitress told us she was going to grab our 5th guest a chair for the end of the table, and never did. He had to grab it himself– which I felt was weird. She then never brought him a water either. When we asked for more salsa or water she seemed like she didn’t understand us. When we paid, we split the bill 5 ways and she was extremely confused. Our waitress was a little off today, but the food was really great! I would love to come back again soon!

My boss took me out for lunch before heading back down to the Bay Area. Nice, cozy sit down restaurant. Seems like it’s family owned. My boss said he’s been coming here for 20 something years! I love Mexican restaurants that give complimentary chips and salsa! This one drops off a giant basket right when you sit down! Win! I just ordered 2 of their Carne Asada Tacos, I know, very basic. But hey, how bad can you mess up on tacos? They were a good size, double tortilla and even had guac with it! 2 tacos were more than enough to fill me up. Now I know why my boss keeps coming back. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food!

Awesome carnitas, tender, flavorful with the right amount of scorched bits… sublime. House made tortilla chips too.

If I could give this restaurant a half a star u would! This is the 2nd time I’ve come to this restaurant, and the servers have been horribly rude! After entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a server asking if we were dining in, because they close in 20 mins. Not only were we ordering our food to go, but the server who seemed to be off work was VERYRUDE. Not only did we NOT have a chance to answer her question, but she immediately dismissed us, stating that she would see if the«kitchen was still open.» After being treated as such we immediately left, and I promise I will NEVER return to this restaurant a gain. Take heed, when visiting this restaurant!

Well I don’t know what to say. I have always liked coming here, be it for lunch or dinner, but I rarely come on a Sunday for dinner, and I won;t be going back on a Sunday. The food is always good, but I have never experienced the poor service we received this evening. We sat ourselves near the waiter’s station since it wasn’t that busy, and figured that we would get quicker service. NOPE. There were five tables taken when we walked in and 4 of them already had their food. We were greeted by one waitress who took our drink order; 2 Pacifico and 1 ice water. We got 2 ice water and 1 beer with a cold glass 5 minutes later. We waited for the second beer that never came, so I ordered another for my wife and it was delivered 5 minutes later, no glass; so we asked for one. We waited again. No chips were brought to the table, so we asked for them. We waited for the server that brought the drinks to take our order. A different waitress finally came to the table and we ordered 2 meals with one to be split. We waited and we waited some more. The waitress who took our order brought my meal and 2 plates for the split order for the wife and daughter(the servings are very large) and I asked about the other meal. The waitress acknowledged and brought back the tortillas for my meal. She left again, I began eating and the second meal was still not delivered, so I asked the waitress, who acted oblivious that we had ordered two entrees. So we waited again. I got about half way through my meal before the other entrée was delivered. Apologies from the waitress, but it was too late IMO. Honestly, with all of the problems and our good natured patience, I was expecting a comp of some kind; dessert, free drinks, something, but no. I still tipped my usual 20% because I understand that times are tough, but the restaurant has lost my future business because of this lack luster performance on a slow Sunday afternoon. Mistakes happen and you expect them when a restaurant is busy, but to have all of these things happen when there were barely any customers; unexcusable. We will not return on a Sunday, if ever because of this poor service issue, I will give my business to 524 or El Novillero instead. Even Los Jarritos has a more attentive staff and a lot less expensive as well.

We tried out this restaurant on a recommendation of a friend and I was very surprised at how good everything was! When you walk, you notice the restaurant is very small on the inside and there is not much seating. The place was very busy when we got there so we had to squeeze a party of five into a booth for four, or sit outside. If the weather was nice that would work but on a 108 degree day in Sacramento… No way. It took us a while to get our drinks and our food order in but the place was completely full and I think they only had two women working the floor. Once our order was in, everything went very smoothly after that. Drinks were refilled promptly and our food came out and everything was delicious. I ordered the taco salad and it did not disappoint. First of all it was HUGE! The chicken on top was grilled and moist. All of the ingredients in the salad were very fresh. My only problem with it was I could not eat the whole thing! Everyone else in our party scraped their plate clean! I don’t even think they needed to run it through the dishwasher if they didn’t want to! This is a great place we will be back!

Horrible. I ordered the Red Combo Burrito with Chicken for takeout during lunch, and it should have come with a warning label. A couple of bites into it, I bit into something hard. I took it out and it was a bone! Eating a burrito, I shouldn’t expect to have bones in it. I’m glad I opened the burrito after finding the first bone because I found another long bone in it. I’m definitely not coming back.

We are never coming back here! The other location is so much better. I ordered Vegetarian Quesadilla, was not worth the money. I was expecting for mushrooms and bell peppers, it only had lettuce, tomatoes and guacamole. My bf ordered Mexican style Jambalaya, it tasted like shrimp and rice covered in cocktail sauce. I can’t remember what else my friend ordered, but overall no one left satisfied with their meal. When we got our check, we noticed they charged gratuity for a group of 5. We flagged down a waitress to confirm we must pay gratuity for a group less than 6 and she said yes. We looked at the menu and it clearly states groups of 8 are more will be charged gratuity. We were extremely unhappy with our experience.

We went to Vallejo’s on a Friday night when the place was packed with customers. We were seated and served promptly. The friendly service was consistently great throughout our meal including water/beverage refills. I ordered the Parillada Azteca and B got the Chimichanga platter. I was underwhelmed with my order– it sounded delicious on the menu but the flavor was meh. But what Vallejo’s food may lack in flavor they make up for in portion. My order was a sizzling pan and a plate of fixings(salad, guacamole, sour cream, beans, rice and tortillas). I was super full at the end of dinner. And B’s meal was almost twice the size of mine– the plate(damn near a tray!) that his food arrived on was the size of an adult torso, no joke. Vallejo’s was a solid 3 star dinner for me. If we come back, I’ll order something new off the menu and see if the flavor improves.

Decided to try out this second location with my groupon last night for dinner. And I was definitely not disappointed. There was ample free parking on the streets nearby and even though it was dinner hour, I was able to get seated in a booth upon walking in(despite it being rather busy already). I ordered a small guacamole appetizer and house margarita on the rocks to start off my night and everything arrived in less than five minutes! I enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa verde(always my favorite) as well. The staff was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was very clean and tidy. I ordered the dinner carnitas plate and the king’s carnitas quesadilla a la carte as well. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and quite promptly after ordering. The flavor was great and I even had enough to make a second meal out of it for lunch the next day. Definitely a win in my book! Would recommend this Mexican restaurant for anyone looking for great flavor, large portions, affordable prices, and a quaint setting for either lunch or dinner. I will definitely be back again in the near future!

I had been in Sacramento for almost a week now and when my brother asked if I wanted to have Mexican food for lunch before heading to the airport I was all over it. Living in San Diego I pretty much have Mexican food 2 – 3 a week. We came in at lunchtime and it was packed which is understandable since it’s downtown. They sat us which I guess was kind of like the bar area, very small table and it took awhile for us to get out chips and salsa even though I asked a couple of times. The salsa both the red and green were pretty good, chips were not greasy. I ordered the chile relleno and the flautas(rolled tacos). Everything was okay, pretty standard solid food and let me tell you I was full for the rest of the day. Didn’t even have dinner, lol. Protip: There are two Vallejo’s Restaurants, each owned by a different brother. This is the smaller location.

It was a Friday night and I was craving a Big Dave’s Mulita. We arrived at Vallejo’s around 7:00pm so they were still super busy. We got seated right away but the tables were so crammed in the dining room we were basically sitting with our chests at the table. There was little room to get up or move around. Despite the squeeze we decided to stay. Since they were busy, service was a little slow but understandable. I ordered the Big Dave’s Mulita while my husband had the enchilada special. I really enjoyed the chips and green salsa while we waited for our entrees. The chips are warm, thick and crunchy. My mulita was filled with a layer of steak, pull pork, fresh vegetables, cheese and guacamole. This is the only thing I get here since you can get everything else on the menu at any other local Mexican restaurant. Service was alright. Food was good. The dining room was crowded yet there was still a guy playing his guitar around for entertainment. My advice, come early or during not peak hours. This is the only Vallejo’s location with the Mulita on the menu.

According to Unilocal,5 stars means you think a place is «as good as it gets.» You might even let out a «Woohoo!» 4 stars indicates you are a fan(«yay!»). As of today, 33% of you are fans of refried beans straight from the can, rubbery«marinated» meats completely devoid of any flavor, and stale, greasy chips. 13% of you would say a fucking turkey platter of these meal components are among the best Mexican food you have ever tasted. And 46% of you make me want to weep. How are we supposed to move forward as a society if we can’t trust one another?
