Place sucks. Bouncers are antagonistic. Managers try to get you to buy a booth and a bottle for a ridiculous amount. Worst establishment in town.

!!! THEYDISCRIMINATE !!! Half of my party was gay and didn’t care about hiding it from people, as it should be. The minute we walked up the disgusting, lazy bouncers loudly said«are you kidding me!?» I knew what they meant, I’m really sensitive to paying attention to things like that and I hate when people disrespect me and my friends like that. But everyone noticed it, it was very obvious. They let the first few people in my party in because they were very straight looking but once it got to my gay male friend they wouldn’t let him in. He dresses very very nice, and they initially blamed it on his shoes. I was so disgusted by this point I didn’t even want to go in anyway so we all turned around and went to leave and the 3 – 4 male bouncers yelled to us «fine, go to the mercantile» which is a very stereotypical gay bar downtown. I guess I shouldn’t be shocked. But I’m curious if the owner knows and supports this attack on equality. Discrimination is very alive in this place. Don’t go if you want to be treated with respect. I plan to tell every single person I know about this experience. They should be ashamed.

Came here on a Saturday night with two of my girlfriends. I have been here once back in January. There were hardly anyone in line to get in, however, once we waited, everyone and their moms(literally moms) decided to come. We waited a little over an hour to get in. There were 4 different lines and the bouncers were letting whoever they knew go in first. The little manager kept saying that they were at capacity but he kept allowing people to walk through. Kinda silly that you would let 20 bros go in instead of 3 girls. I gave them an extra star since it did have an intimate feel to it. Girl at the bar made a decent Jameson and Ginger Ale. Music selection was alright. Dance floor kinda sucked since it was small. The place has potential. Too bad it’s poorly managed.

My whole party was kicked out because of one person. He didn’t get his money back for a private booth either. I was apart of the party and over all disappointed with the management, security and the experience was lackluster. If your looking for a good place to have a good time; this isn’t the place.

I have been here about 6 times within the past 5 months. Each time we had bottle service. We were provided with an excellent location and what I believed to be a great deal on purchasing multiple bottles(in terms of bottle pricing at clubs). When we go, we contact, Sterling, a VIP Host and he gets it done for us. The music is Top 40/dance(when we were there) and I like how it opens up to the outside on warm evenings. The waitresses are always on top of their game and feel that we get treated like valued customers every time.

Great New Year’s Eve party until I had nothing to toast with during the countdown! I paid $ 40 entry to find out they do NOT pass out the toast, you have to push threw the crowd and fetch it. So disappointing! They had plenty of half naked servers that could’ve done this. Literally walked up to the bar to ask for our toasts after midnight. Oh, happy 2016 to you vanguards?!

This place is pretty disappointing. I don’t go out to clubs or bars much these days but since The park didn’t have any booths open we ended up buying a bottle at Vanguard. We stayed for about 30 minutes and then left. Maybe it was the night we were there but it didn’t have a great vibe.

The gorgeous chandeliers are one of the first things I notice whenever I walk into Vanguard. It is a very small club with two levels of dance floors so it can get really toasty in here and you will often see guys’ shirts drenched in sweat at the end of the night from a combination of dancing and the lack of proper air flow. But this place is very classy looking and includes lounge chairs, globe, and a faux shelf of books. The DJ’s here are always good but service from the cocktail servers are a hit or miss depending who you get. For my bestie’s birthday we had an awesome server with bottle service. For my girl Susan’s birthday the club hooked it up with a Vip booth and bottle service but with a snooty server. Drinks are pricey so we usually pregame it and still end up buying shots. The bathrooms are shared with next door restaurant and are horribly small and stuffy. Overall still a great place to get your groove on.

This place is a bit too fancy for me. I didn’t like the vibe, feels very stuffy. For one, the bouncers pretty much select the people who are allowed in based on physical appearance. There were a lot of men who looked like they live at the gym, and not in a good way. What’s with all the VIP booths? Long wait for drinks. I wouldn’t go here again. If you want to feel like you’re royalty, this place is for you. If you want a friendly and relaxed vibe, go somewhere else.

Shout out to Courtney, our server, for the night! Not only did she take care of us, but she hooked us up with complimentary red bulls and checked up on us from time to time. Even when we had to leave our booth to go dance, she made sure the security guards were on point to make sure no one took over our booth. And yes, this place is still great if you are trying to find a sugar daddy LOL. Be warn, this crowd isn’t your typical 21 – 24 peeps, they’re all here, well-established and know how to handle business. We would know because we had these rich European guys follow us and even though they had a limo outside, they were just thirsty AF and ain’t nobody got time for that! Lessons learned: stay away from rich weirdos who may be serial killers. and don’t get too sloppy or ratchet because the security guard will kick you out.

Had a guest list of 50 and was promised free entry prior to 11. Instead half of my party was charged cover because they didn’t receive my guest list even though I showed them a copy of my email and because of a «new rule» that every club in Sac is now required to charge a $ 5 cover minimum which I don’t believe. $ 9/drink is excessive for Sac standards. DJ replayed at least 5 songs throughout the night.

This was my 1st time here and I gotta say I was impressed! My cousins had a booth for their friends birthday. So we could of got in free but didn’t make it in before 10:30pm. Anytime you’re on the guest list make it before this time, and also give yourself time to find a parking. Cover was $ 10 and dress code is strictly enforced a lot of people were turned away FYI. It was dark, pretty chandeliers, nice décor, nice outside area to chill a bit fancy but Sacramento is in need of some classy joints. We had a booth in the back by the DJ who played good music mostly hip hop. This is a lounge with plenty of room to dance but can get very packed. Overall I had a good time especially with my crazy cousins and wouldn’t mind going back.

Good lord please get rid of the stinky cheese smell off your furniture. It has basically smelled this way each time I have sat in the couches or chairs inside. This past friday I went for a birthday party and good lord the smell had gotten worse. It’s pretty obvious that people spill alcohol on the furniture and it soaks in and begins to smell. Bad choice in fabric for the furniture. Besides the smell it’s a decent place kind of small for a club. I thought originally there was not going to be any dancing or anything but I guess the lounge for 30 – 50 crowd never got into this place so they started moving the chairs on weekends so there is a mini dance floor. But please clean your furniture or get new furniture that doesn’t soak up the alcohol and make the furniture stink! It makes you feel like you smell like the furniture after awhile. The patio area is cool too but same deal stinky stinky. I didn’t go out there friday since it was raining but have been out there and theres that stinky cheese smell again.

Not sure if it was the acoustics or the sound system itself but I could barely hear some of the tracks my favorite DJ played. Maybe its the placement of the teeny tiny DJ booth which also seems to be in a stupid place because its in the direct line of traffic to the one bar in this place. They were also way too early on last call and the obnoxiously bright lights. The crowd seemed OK with a good mix of people and I was just happy to see them booking some decent DJs in Sac town while I am here for the time being. I am spoiled by the SF clubs and sound systems and I will go back here again if they continue to book good talent but I hope they can work on the sound!

Horrible horrible place to be The staff at the door is an ass. He looked at my ID and said he wouldn’t let me in. He said he didn’t like my response. Wtf. He didn’t ask me anything just to say that He was an ass. Do not go here, your money isn’t worth it.

Good spot on certain nights. Best time to go is when the DJ of choice places house music. I think it might be on Saturdays but not 100% on that. Dark, small, lit by super sexy color changing crystal chandeliers and room for a dance floor. Easy to get in, no drama at the door, and there may be a cover on certain nights, call ahead to find out. I think if you arrive before 11 it’s free, why not put that money towards a drank instead?!? If you like really deep house, this is your spot to get your groove on. The crowd is mediocre speckled with a couple honeys and hotties here & there but then again, I’m used to the LA scene so… I’m beyond picky. It’s a good spot, my fav downtown so far– but that’s simply because of the music. #HouseHeadForLife

Nice place. Short wait in line. Security friendly. Love the chandeliers. Small on the inside so it gets super packed. Long time to get a drink. Dance floor same way super crowded but the dj was on point. I didn’t want to leave because he kept playing good music.

Tonight we had VIP Service for a Birthday Girl. We arrived at 10pm got out seating situated and waiting for the FUN to begin. The DJ was doing his thing and the music got louder and louder so people can get up and dance. Our server was great! and I forgot her name. Lighting inside was cool and started to fill up. I would say it’s Nice and Classy and I love the beautiful chandelier inside at the bar. Now for parking? good luck on street parking :)

Sacramento is in need of some classy joints; where I can wear my favorite pumps, sequence tank top with a blazer, grab a great libation, sit back and enjoy great company! Right?! So with that said I love the idea and concept of Vanguard! Classy interior; nice large chairs, glass chandeliers, fancy flutes for cocktails, dark wood. This is a lounge, so why the bouncer at the door? Why the feeling of, you need to be someone or higher class to gain entrance? We arrived after dinner on a Friday evening, around 8:30 pm. The place was not packed and had no lines. Maybe the bouncer was there because there will be a crowd later or to reflect out the unwanted crowd who knows. We grabbed 3 cocktails, which totaled $ 36 and headed for seats. We admired the location, chatted and people watched. I wouldn’t say the clientele was«Elite,» I think I would say they Think they are«Elite.» After one drink, we left. Let me be clear nothing happen, and we had no issues but I like to be in a environment which I feel comfortable and welcomed. The staff was OK and the clientele was not for me. Though the location was impressive, the environment was not. Sacramento needs lounges, especially catering to ages 30+ but maybe a Little more welcoming and less stuffy. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place.
