This place is amazing. The guy who helped me was super nice, I ordered a 4 piece wing with mac and cheese but he threw in an extra wing and checked up enough to see if I needed napkins/water/etc. The lady at the cashier was so friendly it felt like she was my aunty! I recommended this place to my whole family and all of my friends already. TRYITTTTT!

Does this place ever open for business? I stopped by twice during«supposedly» business hours and they were closed. Wanted to try it since there was some good reviews on here but now I’m starting to wonder…

WOW! Superb customer service from everyone there, I was greeted and acknowledged by every staff member. I ordered the tritip/rib/hot link plate with greens & Mac and cheese. All the meat was tender and came right off the bone. OMG the greens! GETTHEGREENS! they are so amazing! By far the best.

This is good home cooking at it’s best they are known for their wings but believe me when I say they have so much more on the menu. The place is hard to find but so worth the effort. I would recommend the tri tip and wings combo or fried fish and Mac n cheese with collards save room for dessert. Best time to go is on weekends or Mondays for live Jazz next door. Mr. Waters and his wife are wonderful enjoy!

Great place, great atmosphere the owner is a very nice and friendly gentleman. My husband was in search of a good soulfood restaurant. We gound this place on Unilocal and took the 25 minute drive and i have to admit it was well worth it. Everything we ordered was amazing and seasoned well(not salty). My husband and I plan on becoming regulars. Sidenote: his weekend hookups are the best if your ever in the area stop in

The best soul food in town! The catfish was great. I usually don’t eat cornbread but I finally tried some for the first time in 20 years and it was the best!

My only problem was the bathroom was horrible smelled like a walked into a barn. For that they lost two stars. The restaurant itself was clean. But the bathrooms discussting. Maby it was a bad day. Were they had a rush and never got around to it.

My wife was entered in a wing eating contest at the recent Sactown Wings event and the wings were provided by Water’z Wing’z. We checked out the restaurant the next day. Ironically, the restaurant is directly behind a building that I manage, and I was previously only vaguely aware that they were even there. The location: In South Sacramento, tucked away between some office buildings on Governor’s Circle. The location used to be Warner’s Rendezvous, a nightclub of questionable repute. Warner’s is thankfully gone now, and Water’z Wing’z is in its place. Warning: While only a block off of Florin Road, this is not the easiest place to find. It’s tucked up against the southbound exit at Highway 99, but you have to turn north at East Parkway, then right on Governor’s Circle to get to it. Parking is close and plentiful. Days/Hours: Open Wednesday through Sunday(closed Mon/Tue) but they are trying to get set up to be open on Monday evenings during NFL season. Sometimes they are closed due to catering jobs or festivals; we recommend that you call ahead to confirm that they are open, especially if you’re traveling any distance to get there. Environment/ambience: Not much to look at, in fact it’s a little run-down, but it’s clean and easy to navigate. The chief ambience is with the proprietors, Steve and Yvonne, along with Chef Ed who are all crazy nice! They have plans to open the nightclub side of the building as a sports bar of sorts, and are working on it as they can. But that part’s not quite done yet. The service model: Order food at the counter, which is brought to booths or packed for takeout. They have a menu with their main offerings, and also an extensive«secret» menu of items that are available on Fri/Sat/Sun only. Service: They prepare most items to order, so some items may take a bit longer than others, but the wait is not bad. They’ll be glad to hook you up with a beverage or an icy cold glass of water while you wait. Steve and Yvonne are some of the friendliest and nicest restaurant proprietors that we’ve ever met. We rarely hear restaurant people laugh so much. It’s clear that they really love what they do. Our meal: We’ve tried several items over the past month. I won’t go into detail on most of them, but rest assured that you cannot go wrong with any choice you make. We’ve tried the wings(obviously) but also their pork ribs, dry-fried ribs(a weekend offering), sliced pork sandwich, and… tamale pie! Food: Both the wife and I have really really enjoyed every item we’ve ordered! Steve and Yvonne seem to be incapable of turning out a bad meal. WARNING: This is «stick to your ribs» comfort food, NOT for someone on a strict diet! The wife absolutely loved loved loved her chicken wings and fries. The dry-fried ribs are like little pork chops, great either plain or dipped in their sweet smoky barbecue sauce. We will have to try them with honey mustard sauce next time. The pork ribs, although not baby back, were fall-off-the-bone tender and very flavorful. The sliced pork sandwich was tender and smoky, with the perfect sauce to accompany it. Their cornbread was OK and the dinner rolls were nothing special, but thei tamale pie? OMG! I was raised on the Nalley’s canned Tamale Pie back in the day, but that went off the market more than two decades ago, and I haven’t had any since. Yvonne makes hers from scratch, and it’s loaded with seasoned meat, cheese, olives, corn and masa. It’s every bit as yummy as I remember, and maybe even better. It is a freaking addiction, I tell you! Finally, the wife got a slice(right out of the oven) of their lemon cake with lemon glaze. Fantastic! Very moist and very lemony, the perfect palate cleanser after a hearty meal. Price: Wife and I feel somewhat guilty that we get such great food, in such generous portions, for as little as they charge. We’ve walked(walked? I meant waddled) out of their place stuffed to the gills and happier than a pig in mud for under $ 25 for the both of us, including a generous tip. Some items are even less expensive. There are a true value for the money. Summary: We’ve been partial to Tank House and Sticky Gator recently for BBQ, but based on the meals we’ve had, they now have serious competition for our restaurant money. The biggest drawback to Water’z Wing’z is their location; if they were located in Midtown, for example, they’d be crushing the competition. As I said earlier in this post, I manage a large office building directly across the street and my coworkers are probably tired by now of me going on and on and on about them. Listen to me carefully and heed my words: Search for them, find them, and try them; your taste buds and wallet will be rewarded! Then, get the word out to anyone who will listen. This is a business that deserves to make it.

A good friend recommended this place to me after I told her I had been craving a good hot link. My mother and I decided to try it out and I’m glad we did! I had the hot link dinner which included 2 sides(Macaroni and Cheese & Greens) and some of the banana pudding to go and I was pleasantly surprised, everything was great. It’s hard to find good BBQ/Soul food in Sacramento so I will definitely be coming back here to try some of the other items on their menu.

Now if it wasn’t for Unilocal,I don’t think I would have ever found this spot! It is off of Florin road in a little industrial court. The building used to be a little club for the grown folk but is now just being used as the restaurant. My guest and I both ordered combo plates that come with 2 sides. I had prawns and wings, he had ribs and wings. We got the red beans and rice, potato salad, collard greens and tamale pie as our sides. I often judge a good southern meal by their sides and this place hits a home run. The greens are smokey, rich and bitter. The tamale pie is moist and gooey with cheese, the potato salad, classic and straight forward and the red beans and rice were cooked to perfection. Our wings were fresh and ultra crispy, and they serve your hot sauce on the side which I really like. Their hot sauce is tangy with a great kick. Their fried shrimp are battered in cornmeal and fried to perfection, and their ribs were tender, smokey and moist. However they were served more at room temperature and would have been enjoyed even more if they were hot. Their sign says cooked to order and I love and appreciate the care they put into the food, even if it is a longer wait. The service was also memorable. The family is friendly and accommodating and made the visit that much better. However, there are definitely some things that could be improved… There signage both outside and inside the restaurant could eliminate a lot of confusion. You wouldn’t even know the place is a restaurant until pulling into the parking lot. Inside they have a menu available but it doesn’t list nearly everything they have. Make sure to ask about specials and what’s for dessert, otherwise you’ll be missing out! It would be great if they even just printed out some daily special signage on computer paper and posted them near the cashier. Second is that the place is pretty run down. I don’t mind a little hole in the wall joint and understand not everyone would have the money to upgrade such a large space but they need a better cleaning crew. The bathrooms were filthy and I saw dust clinging everywhere. They also have a makeshift office set up as you walk to the restroom which I find a little unprofessional. This place just needs to be stripped and scrubbed and given a little bit of an identity, that’s all. The owner told me they plan to use the large room for private events and revamp the bar, but couldn’t give me a date. I hope it’s soon! I would love to see this place thriving and surviving and can’t wait to enjoy another meal there.

Hidden on a side street, you would really never just find this place. However, luckily thanks to Unilocal,my friends and I came here for dinner. We were the only ones there but it’s quite a big space. The owners are extremely nice and attentive — it really feels like you’re in the south for some good soul food from grandma’s kitchen. I got wings and a weekend special(chicken and 2 sides). I had no complaints for the food. I loved the sides. The chicken was also great but I wish it came with sauce options. Nevertheless, if you ever find yourself in this area, come here for some good, filling, and reasonably priced food.

A co-worker of mine suggested this place for lunch. I was game, but cautious, only because I’m very particular about my soul food. The owners were awesome and just great people to talk too. They have a «secret» menu that changes on Fridays Saturday’s and Sunday’s. I ordered the ½ pound catfish plate, my coworker, the smothered pork chop plate with black eyed peas and fried(yes fried!) collard greens. The best way to describe lunch that day was total silence. There was no small talk or conversation once the food hit the table it was that good! Neither meal was salty in any way. If I had to pick one bone to pick, it would be the French fries weren’t done hard enough, but that’s easily fixed. I’m sure if I requested them crispy I would get it. Please please please check them out and support small local businesses!

I ordered the catfish sand which and out comes this box filled with winco frozen fries and a few prices for breaded catfish. No bread in the box to be found? I literally just paid almost 8 dollars for some frozen fries. Everything else on the menu was way over priced and the lady was describing everything on the menu in ounces so you know they give you tiny portions. Would never go back. Horrible first impression, still wondering where my bread went.: /

Amazing food. Got the ribs and catfish plate. I highly recommend this place but do have patience because they take their time making your food. a little disappointed that more people aren’t in this place when I get there because this place has potential. tucked in behind Florin Road but it’s got plenty of parking and really good sweet tea sweet tea.

I must say We found this little piece of heaven from Unilocal and love it! The owners are the nicest people and gave us samples of different greens and tamale pie. To me this is soul food and doesn’t get any better. They make you feel like your family coming to visit and just want to fix your favorite with a better twist. We ordered TriTip and hot link platter with homemade corn bread, greens & cabbage(Amazing!), potato salad(so good), wings(I’m not sure what they do different than everybody else but I didn’t want to use sauce they were so good), and tamale pie(sent from Heaven just to please) Oh yeah let’s not for get the ice cold mango infused water so refreshing. This is a casual homey place nothing fancy but oh so good southern cooking. I wish it was near my house. You have to try this place!

Décor needs some pizazz. Also, his meat has too much of a lighter fluid taste this time. Not sure if it was by mistake but it did. Customer service is bomb and sides were ok. Potato salad needs salt. The lobby is very dingy and the seats are old smelling. Great people but they need an influx of cash to spruce up the place a lot. Family owned and ran and a great thing. They need to market as well. The building is gigantic! They could really use a handy man in the restroom as it is broken and haphazardly presented. The food does not make up for the locale at all.

Finally had an a opportunity to check this spot out! It’s in a hidden location, so you definitely have to keep an eye out for the turn. The staff are extremely friendly and even offer to tailor the food to your cooking preferences. If you give them a heads up, they are wiling to bake any of the typically fried foods that are on the menu. Our food came out in a timely manner, hot, and perfectly seasoned. I had a tri-tip/rib plate that was bursting with flavor(I could taste the liquid smoke on the ribs). I will be back… :)
