Another fundraising event for the books! This event benefited Runnin’ for Rhett which I had recently heard of as a family member did a run for Rhett. Rhett Seevers had severe cerebral palsy born 2÷7÷97 and passed on 3÷13÷04. Beth was introduced to running one year after Rhett passed. She in turn was inspired after completing the 1st annual Shamrock’n half marathon. The foundation was founded on 12÷7÷07 after many friends and family ran with Beth. Both Beth and Randy dedicated their lives in honor of Rhett to the importance of movement for one’s good health as Rhett was unable due to his condition. This Winterfest was in their fifth year in the making in Sactown. It was held at Red Lion Woodlake Inn on January 15, 2016. At least forty breweries, fifteen wineries, twenty restaurants & food trucks, DJ’ed music were present. It really was ideal to have this event at a hotel so all you have to do is walk to and from your hotel room! Both of us don’t drink so we didn’t have to worry about driving home drunk. They did have tickets for those of us who were designated drivers. That’s really a plus for us too bc it was a fraction of the total cost. Looking at the list of breweries they came from several areas & states like from Juneau Alaska, Surrey, BC, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Big Island, Hawaii, Chicago, Illinois, Seattle, Washington, different cities in Oregon as well as all over California. It was an impressive list to see. Wineries only included those all over California not as huge as the brewery list. Because we got to enjoy the food there here was a list of who was there: Bacon Mania, Cichy Co., Costa’s Kettlecorn, Drewski’s, Flavor Face, Gyro Stop, Melting Pot, Oak Park Brewing, Slightly Skewed, Smokers Wild BBQ, Capitol Garage, Game Day Grill, Dad’s Kitchen, Chando’s Tacos, It’s Nacho truck, Cecil’s Taste by One Soul, Kico’s, Smoking Hot Pizza & North Border Taco. Tastings were unlimited and amazing! My favorite was the meatloaf mash from Oak Park Brewery, wings from Game Day Grill and Melting Pot’s delectable dipping desserts in chocolate sauce. DJ music got us in the partying mood, along with the photo booth pics and fun picture taking of the Sterling Limousine company. Dinger the Sacramento River Cats mascot was really hamming it up. So cute! We enjoy attending fundraisers like this as they go for a really good cause. Not sure if we will make it next year but if we are available we probably definitely will!!! Maybe we will see you the next time!
