This is your average mom and pop liquor store. Decent selection of beer, wine and liquor but nothing too fancy. I actually stopped going here because I got really into craft beers the last few years and they don’t carry that sort or thing here. The staff and owner is friendly and can help you get anything you want that they don’t stock and have access to. Prices are a little high for my liking but nothing insane.

So let’s start out with the basics. It’s a decent place to run in and get your beer and liquor without driving too far, especially if you live in town. Out of respect, I won’t compare their prices to wholesale places or other(bigger) liquor stores. You know with this place being much smaller, their market up will be a few dollars more. Small parking lot makes it easy to run in and out. The only problem you’ll encounter if you’re pushing a cart in or out, you need to open the doors manually. They don’t open with the sensor. Trust me… You’ll know what I mean when you get there and you’re standing in front of the door with a full cart and you’re like, really? It would just be more convenient, but trust me, that doesn’t bother me at all. What bothers me is the fake coupons that they printed out and you can’t use. See, they advertised with ValPak, and I got coupons for them right before the Christmas holiday. But when I went into the store, no matter what I wanted, I couldn’t use their coupons. Seems everything popular, had an «on sale» sticker on it, and the coupons couldn’t be redeemed with anything on sale. I tried using the coupon«$ 2 off 24 pack beer bottles.» I couldn’t buy anything… No Yuengling, No Budweiser, not even Roller Rock… I have paid the same price for months, now it’s got a «on sale» sticker with the same price I always paid? Didn’t make sense, but figured it was because of the holiday season. So I put the coupons away(they expire 2÷28÷14), and just happen to find them. Good timing too, I needed to restock the fridge. I go in yesterday… «Sir what beer can I use these coupons on?» He looks at me and tells me I can’t buy 2 – 12 pack beers, it’s gotta be a 24 pack of beers. After I completed my order I go to the register. I go to buy a bottle of liquor and use the 10% off coupon… «Sorry, this is 1.75L. You can only use it on 750ml or 1.5L.» Whaaa? Are you kidding me? Okay whatever, next up… I bring a 24 pack of Coronas and try to use the«$ 2 off 24 pack beer bottles» coupon. He said, but If I use the coupon the price will go up. I said can you explain? He said cause it’s already got an $ 8 discount on it. It’s still the same price I’ve always paid!!! So in the end, again… Nothing I can use the coupons on! It’s not so much to save a dollar here, a dollar there… but listen, it all adds up. When you print out coupons, you should be able to use them on what you want, not what they want you to use them on. I read the fine print, fine no large bottles and no sale items, but there’s an excuse why the coupon won’t work on anything you want to buy. The guy told me this as I’m walking out… «Listen, sorry buddy. They make me look like the bad guy here, but this is what they want.» I told him, it is what it is, I’m not going to argue about it. But that’s the 2nd time I walked in and was not able to use these coupons. It’s stupid! So in the end, I tried to save what… $ 4 – 5 dollars and couldn’t. Am I offended? A little. Will I be going back… You tell me? I dish out money to this place all the time and don’t complain… Now they had a chance to make things right and make me save a little bit of money and they play these games?

I see people giving reviews … «for Saddle Brook» Hey buddy, what’s wrong with Saddle Brook? I’ve seen worse! This small establishment is located on busy Market Street, the hub of our little town where they are the only liquor store on the strip. Recently a friend was looking for a bottle of Cake Bread Cab from 2008 and guess who had it? Not the big box store but little olé’ Saddle Brook Liquors. Yes she bought it for me and guess what? I don’t drink cabernet. We took a drive back the next day with no receipt and the owner let us exchange for another — he remembered her and said she didn’t need her receipt! That’s customer service. I can’t say they have everything I need, but he did say he had my favorite Pinot Noir from Gnarlyhead so I think I’ll be visiting again real soon.

Selection could be better, but for Saddle Brook, I think the supply fits the demand. Living in SoCal, there are two beers that I miss; Molson and Yuengling. I’m not sure why those beers aren’t offered there, but whenever I’m in town I take advantage. The Yuengling Black & Tan is a must try if you’re into lagers. The store itself has plenty of parking and plenty of refrigerated beer. Prices are on par with the larger liquor stores like Bottle King and Home Liquors. Yay for Yuengling…
