Ok so we tried Que Pasta across the street last week and we wanted to try this one at some point in time and that happened to be today. Before we parked I checked here to check their reviews and to my dismay I see 2 and a half stars. I always like to give places the benefit of doubt if I see at least someone has given 5 or 4 stars, but omg we couldn’t even take the food to go cause it was so bad. I feel bad cause the waiter was very forgetful but he was nice. At one point I asked him for my drink and he looked down at my empty cup and said«ok, I’ll get that for you» and there was only ONE other table there with customers who were there before us and we’re a small group. 7 minutes pass by of me watching him talk to another employee, fiddle with his fingers, go back and forth between the customer area and the back(mind you, there’s no customers because the other group already left) and I still had no drink. I needed my drink so bad too! It was hard to put down that food since it tasted like something out of an episode of «restaurant nightmares»… I really think they should ask for help from a professional that has owned a restaurant that has kept its momentum… I was told that many years back when it first opened that the food was good, but it’s barely edible… Someone else left a review with 5 stars but wrote that this isn’t a 5 star restaurant. Just ask yourself if that makes sense. I still feel bad for the girl cleaning table(young maybe early twenties) and the waiter(late 40s maybe early 50s), because they weren’t bad people BUT I WISH we were so friggin warned about the food. And who serves pasta, ITALIANPASTA, with a spoon? And chicken parm isn’t suppose to be soggy with a watered down sauce. And the ribs were horrible. THISISWHATTHEYRESUPPOSEDTOSPECIALIZEIN! Just don’t do the mistake we did and pay an almost $ 50 bill on food you can’t even take home for someone else to eat.

I’m reading not so pleasant reviews and of course that’s the views of others and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I love this place the food is good, the specials are excellent, the prices are more than reasonable and I’ve been there countless times(in walking distance from my home) and I’ve never had a bad experience. It’s not a 5 star restaurant by any means and they don’t advertise that they are but the patrons are friendly, the staff is great, and I’ll be back.

Been here a couple of times in the past where the food was pretty good. Just left there now food was major disappointment including prime rib that looked no better than a burnt 10 ounce steak had to send back. Also had French onion soup that had no taste.

I passed this place hundreds of times and finally decided to try it out. I’ve eaten legit BBQ before in Texas and Ironically Memphis. This isn’t that. The place definitely needs a refresh with their utensils and plates. The service was good but the food was bland. No real taste. I’d pass on this one

This place is stuck in the 80s. Better yet, it looks like one of those places you would see on the show Restaurant Impossible, where they fix failing restaurants. I stopped in because my cousin told me this place had good cheesesteaks. So my husband and I ordered one from the menu, you choose from the options A, B, or C. We chose the one with onions and mushrooms. To my astonishment when it arrived from the kitchen, the cheesesteak was cheese-less! LOL. When i flagged down our waitress, she gave us a bit of attitude because we didn’t ask for cheese on it. This doesn’t make any sense. how are they going to advertise cheesesteaks on the menu with options A, B & C and then make the customer request to put cheese on a dang cheesesteak? Skip this place.

I’ve been going there for years… the ribs are awesome and the prices are great. The owner and staff are very friendly. I will continue to eat there and stop by for a drink.

WOW! I honestly do not know how this place is still in business, if it wasn’t for the regulars this place would be closed.

The golden pub has amazing food. Everything is fresh and homemade. From the steaks to the seafood bar. All their servers are very friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a bit outdated but the quality of the food is well worth it. I personally never had the ribs but have heard from family that they are amazing. I come all the time for a cheesesteak and wings and a good German beer. If you want good quality food and a calm not busy environment then the golden pub is for you.

So while working my partner suggested BBQ here I said sure lets try it. Big mistake. Shoulder was tough and dry. I’m not even sure it was smoked and it was drowned in BBQ sauce. No smoky flavor. Ribs were decent but smothered in BBQ sauce. The coleslaw was a just diner slaw and the baked beans were from a can. All in all a pretty bad experience. I don’t know how the other items on the menu are but if you are looking for good BBQ go elsewhere.

I agree with the guy who said the people who give bad reviews about this place don’t understand what kind of place it is. My friend and I both really enjoyed this restaurant! The food is good and the prices are inexpensive. I had the barbecue chicken, and my friend had the barbecue ribs. The meat was tender and juicy and fell off the bone — definitely the best barbecue I’ve had in Jersey. We will definitely be coming back!

People who give a bad review of this place are simply ignorant and don’t understand what kind of place it is. The prices are inexpensive and it’s a nice local place. The dry rub ribs are absolutely off the charts. The raw bar is also one of the best. Everything else is stilly pretty good though. I’m a big ribs guy and these may be the best I’ve ever had(ps the dummy who complained that their not really Memphis cause they aren’t dry rub, DIDN’T order the DRYRUB!) So you wanna bring the whole fam to a nice place an not wait on line for two hours and not spend a fortune, this place is great.

I love the Golden Pub… I love the mushroom soup it’s amazing. Also the staff is very friendly and the owner is a doll! The prices are fair and the food is yummy. It is a very laid back atmosphere and there is a dude that hangs at the bar named Lambet! He is a trip. Really nice guy and he will buy you shots all night if you sit next him. Ha ha ha! Also I LOVE the pickles so crunchy and crisp… When you snap them make sure you do it next to your ear… just so you can hear the crispy-ness! Pickle King Rules!

Me and the hubby decided to eat here since it was across the way from Kessler where we were visiting my dad and plus it had a huge sign for RIBS!!! As soon as you walk in don’t be expecting a 5 star meal at a 5 star restaurant. This place does serve its purpose of killing your hunger if you’re starving. I ordered the ribs(had to try it) and hubby got a burger. The salads our meals came with was a typical salad thrown together… nothing special. The ribs were alright I guess… I’ve had better. Hubby’s burger was more appealing to me and wished I got that instead. So dont go crazy and order anything too fancy or you’ll be disappointed. This place reminded me of a diner or kinda like a Ponderosa(remember those??) but Ponderosa is better… just saying. Our waitress was very nice.

Ok… so. First of all, the premise for my visit before checking reviews was due to my desperation. Grams is at Kessler across the street. I’m going to pewk typing this. I walk in. Smells like rotted ass. The rag the miserable lady that was cleaning the table was using hasn’t been washed… in years. She must have already killed her sense of smell. Smelled horrendous. She abruptly took our order… I wanted to run but with two kids in tow, I was stuck. I ordered the sizzling steak. With mushrooms and onion. I hade two crackers. My steak was a grilled muscle. I swear. Will not lie. It was seasoned with air. Yep. Air. No salt and no pepper. The mushrooms were raw. Yep! Nothing was sizzlin’ I can’t. I’m going to go pewk. The oyster bar looked like hell. I wouldn’t eat from there if I was a fly. Rather eat shit. I’m sad. I was so hungry and couldn’t eat more than crackers. The plates. The plates were soooo old not a spot on them looked shiny. They were dull. The whole place was DULL. If ure looking to kill ureself this might be a good place to go for ure last meal. Most depressive place I’ve ever been. I’m done. Going to pewk.

i was pretty unsure when i walked in. It was old dated and dingy. the raw bar i got excited over but the shrimp weren’t firm and crisp The guy that was shucking looked like the dishwasher from the back, he opened them but left a lot of the meat to go back and scrape off the shell. I felt like i was doing his job over again… I ordered the lobster ravioli and it had a very strong fish after taste. The stuffed mushrooms were pretty decent and my husband had the philly cheesesteak .He enjoyed that but the french fries were not edible soggy cold and greasy. fries should be crispy hot and lightly salted. i will probably go back for the raw oyster bar and maybe hot pastrami. Only because it’s so hard to find someone who knows how to brine and cook pastrami correctly. I still haven’t found a good fish and chips place as well. Off to another culinary venture …

Atmosphere– outdated. Noise level– New Jersey. Food– greasy. Dry rub ribs were greasy. According to my nice waiter they make a new batch of ribs 3 times per week. Although the rub offers some flavor I asked the waiter if they deep fry them to heat them up. They were exuding grease, unusual amounts. Won’t go out of my way to go again. Nice waiter.

Not sure what all the negative fuss is all about with some reviews for this place, it wasn’t bad at all. Unfortunately, I didn’t try any BBQ. Definitely next time though… WHOWENT: I went there with my girlfriend and her kid. I had a steak salad, She had a stuffed fish dinner, and the kid had a grilled chicken salad. WHATWEGOT: The portions for every meal(and plates) where excellent and HUGE! My girl said the seafood was fantastic and the 6 year old kid actually quietly ate all the grilled chicken on the plate as well as most of the salad… which has to mean something if you know anything about kids being picky eaters. THELOOKANDFEEL: The interior was kinda family restaurant oriented… it was very casual and you kinda knew you where going to get a good home style cooked meal, but we weren’t expecting the extremely large portions. Very nice. WAITER: Our waiter was kind and served food and drinks in a timely manner. No complainants whatsoever. We left a nice tip. COST: It wasn’t expensive at all considering the amount of food we got. $ 9 each for the(2) huge salads and $ 13 for a complete huge stuffed fish dinner with veggies, mashed potatoes, and soup.(plus juice and drinks). RESULT: Very nice, quiet, and relaxed time. We are definitely going back again, and looking forward to it. BONUS: Try the giant sized strawberry frozen daiquiri. The drink had to weight like 5 or more pounds, it looked great and tasted great too! One of those made me feel nice and relaxed.

AVOIDTHISPLACE!!! The first time I went here was for a birthday party and enjoyed the food and atmosphere but when I went back the 2nd time with my friends… totally different. The service was horrible, the food was under cooked. We decided to leave a very small tip for the lack of service and bad food, as we were getting into our cars the hosts runs into the parking lot to demand more money which is completely unfair. With this being said we will DEFINITELYNOT be returning back to this place.

I went to this place for dinner because it said it had Memphis BBQ and my boyfriend decided he didn’t want Que Pasta at the last minute. It wasn’t expensive but I wouldn’t go back.
