Don’t Cheat Yourself, Treat Yourself BLVD’s seafood tastes like it is frozen and processed. I have never seen either one of the Caribbean ladies fillet a fish. The fried whiting sandwich tasted rubbery and bland. The collard greens and yams tasted like it was from a can(supermarket brand). Overall, the quality of the food is wayyyyyy below standards, especially for those over inflated prices.

Had to stop here again, even though it’s not a cheat day. After a long ride from Brooklyn, I stopped here to satisfy my hunger. So yeah there was no line and this time I ended up getting the quarter jerk chicken dinner with their gooey cheesy Mac and cheese and warm delicious greens. This jerk chicken was hot as hell especially with the sauce and the whole meal was fresh. I can’t even find any more words to say about this, the food filled me up as usual.

My bff, boyfriend and I just went in. The service is ok. But I could care less due to the incredibly delicious food they make! Bff: catfish sandwich with green beans. Boyfriend: 2pc fried chicken with collard greens and mac. Me: fried shrimp with rice and beans and potato salad. Extras: yams, lemon cake All I can say is this place produces nothing but delicious food. The fried chicken is juicy and seasoned well. Everything was absolutely insanely delicious! This is what soul food is supposed to taste like! My advice is to call in advanced and depending on the day add 5 – 10 minutes to what they tell you.

Let’s talk Soul Food 101: We will begin with BLVD(Farmers Blvd). Good Soul Food’s main ingredient is Soul. Cooking food with tender, love and care. The seasoning and orgasmic flavor they toss into the batter here, is unmatched. In search of a legit fish fry/down home soul food spot, my Unilocal reasearch led me to Blvd. Minutes from home with ample street parking in Saint Albans A.K.A. The Home of Down Home Soul Eats, I spotted Blvd. I was greeted by a older Jamaican woman who informed me of the $ 12& $ 15 cat fish and whiting plates. Each served with 2 sides. I opted for the fried Whiting. Our food was prepped about 15 – 20 minutes max. No lines. No B.S. I paid with my credit card which was an added bonus. I hate credit minimum limits. My Godmother ordered the Potato Salad and Cole slaw as choice sides. I ordered the Collared Greens and macaroni and cheese. Every side was PERFECTION. The potato salad was just… beyond words. A little zest, sweet zing and chive for flavor. The MacNcheese was heavenly. The Cole Slaw was spot on delicious. My whiting was not greasy, nice crispy exterior and plump. When I don’t feel like cooking, I now have a new home.

This place a a neighborhood fixture. It’s been around for years and never disappoints. They consistently serve fresh, well seasoned, food. My favorite is the bbq chicken dinner which comes with two sides. I am in love with the potato salad and Mac n cheese but the collard greens, yams, corn, and string beans are great as well. You must try the peach cobbler!!! The customer service is great. Sometimes small businesses forget to greet you or even smile, this place isn’t overly friendly but it’s just right.

Where have I been??? I don’t live far at all and I just got put on thanks to Unilocal. The food here is really good and the prices are even better! So far I’ve only had the fish & chips with the macaroni salad($ 5) and the 2pc fried chicken($ 3.11). The macaroni salad could have less mayo but it’s still not bad. The fish and the chicken is amazing! Fried and seasoned perfectly! They also give you enough ketchup, tartar, and hot sauce with each meal. The first time, I went in to see the full menu but after that I called ahead and just picked it up because I didn’t want to run into crowdedness like the other reviews mentioned. Staff is cool. I’ve only seen a few older ladies that just seem like they’ve been dealing with wacko customers way too long. The ladies are nice, but just not overexcited.

Can’t live without the whiting sandwiches!.I have been coming here since childhood and the sandwiches never disappoint me. Peach cobbler is the business! I did notice that the mac and cheese fell off tastewise but who cares I will stick to what I know. I keep coming back whenever the fish crave knocks on my door. Service here is still a bit shaky but after coming here for so long I don’t even mind. Call ahead and your wait wouldn’t be to painful.

I’ve been coming here since I moved to St. Albans. The ribs are always perfect and they give you great portions for about 5 bucks(ribs only). The peach cobbler never let’s me down. The macaroni and cheese is always on point, same with the yams. The chicken and fish I haven’t had much of but when I do it’s always fresh. The rotisserie chicken is really bomb though. If you’re familiar with soul food you should call in advance because it’s gonna take at least 20 min to get your food. If you’re not then you’ll need to come in and get acquainted with what they have. It can get pricey depending on what you like. There aren’t many places in NY that serve traditional American soul food so when you find one that’s good you have to take advantage of It. This place is worth it.

3.5 stars. I had the fried catfish today with mac n cheese and collard greens, a $ 12 meal. Whereas it is more appealing than most of the other food options in the area, I was a little disappointed with my meal. The breading on the catfish was a little tough, making it hard to pull off bits with the fork they provided me(no knife was supplied). The tartar sauce was very fresh though and the mac n cheese was solid. The greens were just greens. It definitely didn’t feel like a $ 12 meal. FYI, if you use a credit card you must show ID.

Let me start by saying there food is pretty good, just wish their service matched up. The staff(well at least the cashier) is a bit on the rude side. Maybe she was having a bad day? Nope she’s like that every time Maybe she was annoyed? Not my problem! I’m giving you MYMONEY, look happy dammit! Maybe that’s just how she is? Then maybe she needs to get an overnight job then. At least she won’t have to deal with people. Now on to the food: The catfish is amazing. Perfectly seasoned and more importantly, they give more than 2 pieces. Now when I say pieces I don’t mean catfish that were on some type of diet. These are catfish that ate like it was Thanksgiving every day. These are big pieces. I’ve tried all of the sides and all were pretty good(except for the potato salad, I’m very picky when it comes to potato salad). Overall: I stop by whenever I’m in Queens and will continue to do so.

I have been patronizing Boulevard’s for many, many years. The food is great!!! They have never failed me yet. UPDATE: had to come back to update. Not sure if they’re under new management but the staff in the shop was very rude and extremely slow with service. Tried another time, got the same experience. Won’t be back unless I’m desperately hungry enough to turn a blind eye.

I’ve been going here for years and the food is really, really good. The whiting it always fresh hot and tasty. The mac and cheese, potato salad and collards are always great. Go on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday and they might have peach cobbler(only made on weekends) which is really good too. It’s take-out only, no seating. Get a menu and call your order in before you go to avoid the 15 – 20 minutes of waiting around on Farmers Blvd until your food is ready. The fish is freshly cooked and that takes time.
