this place smells. it smells very displeasing and drives me away. with greasy tables, ice cream stickiness, and a small space for eating. I can’t stand it! their hotdogs are awful and vainy! I can’t stand their mint ice cream! WAYTOOMINTY! it’s all I taste!

After doing a big bike ride up to Swanton and back I needed to refuel. Hoss’s was the place and enjoying a St. Albans’s Co-Op creemee was my chosen fuel! The small chocolate creemee cooled me off, restored my glucose levels and made me a very happy guy. If you’re going to take a ride to get a creemee this is the place to go to.

Hoss’s…where the baby size creemee is as big as your one year old baby’s head! Love Hoss’s creemees, love the prices, love that they use dairy from the St. Albans Co-op. Nothing bad to say about Hoss’s. Fries are great too.

Hands down best ice cream around… The only reason I took off two stars is for service. Usually young help working n they are pretty rude n unfriendly to say the least.

Great creemees, good sundaes! Large sizes, I couldn’t manage to eat a small. Hopefully next time I visit they will have raspberry twist and maybe, just maybe, my teeth won’t kill me with every bite. Too cold!

One of the reasons it’s great to see winter go away, Hoss’s opens up! It’s your typical snack bar stand: creeemees on one side, grill/fried food on the other. They take your order, you pay, you get a number, they cook the food, they call out your number, you eat your food or take it home. The food is pretty tasty for snack bar fare. It’s a large menu but I’ve tried the bacon cheeseburger(they use a round piece of bacon so every bite has bacon!), philly cheesesteak, fried clams, italian sausage, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and fries(not ALL at the same time!!). Everything has been pretty satisfying. I’m not a fan of the mozz sticks but it’s only $ 1.50. The onion rings are perfect but don’t bother buying the $ 4.50 large, it’s waaay too much food. Fries are pretty decent, russet potato style. Creemees are a real highlight. They make 4 sizes but believe me, the smallest«baby» cone is sufficient. I’ve seen a «medium» and it’s ridiculously huge for a cone. They rotate flavors of the week. Maple is the best but orange tastes amazing too. Shakes are very thick but perfect in flavor. I haven’t tried the flurries yet but am tempted. Prices can add up for a family but it’s great for a weekend treat out. It has a small sit down area out front and plenty of parking. The service is quick as well but it can get busy during meal times. I’ve seen them open as late as 9pm or so as well. Stop by before the warm weather disappears for the year and you ask yourself«why didn’t we go to Hoss’s this summer??»

Being that Hoss’s Dog House is a seasonal deal, every time I come here, usually on a warm summer day, for some reason brings back memories of being at the beach. Just something about the casual setting, and the smell of the food. The Dog House got a porch roof earlier this year and has the ability to take debit and credit cards now. Baby cone size — as others here have indicated, is actually a very generous adult serving. A fun lunch or early dinner place.

Yummy is the word. I’ve tried and tasted creemees from various locations throughout Vermont, and non of them seem to come close to the quality, taste, and value as Hoss. The milk for the creemees is provided by the St. Albans Coop, which is a high quality seal in itself. The main flavors are chocolate and vanilla but they have a few other flavors as well usually as a special of the week. Watch out for the sizes of the cones. The servings are huge and you’ll be shocked when you’re not expecting it. Lets put it this way, a baby sized cone is generally enough for an adult. A baby size here is a large elsewhere. Enjoy!

this was my first visit. My wife and I both had the michigan dogg and split a quart of fry’s. The Michigans were good. The sauce was more like«Manwhich» sauce(tomato based with onion salt or something like that) than I usually see with a Michigan. But like I said, it was good. Now lets talk about the fry’s: Excellent. Pretty much just like Beenseys, Al’s or even the other place owned by 5 guys. A definate good place to stop for a bite if you are in town, or need a place not too far from the interstates.

Lovely variety of summer treats! My favorite Mango Vanilla Swirl Creemee. Delicious! Huge serving, a junior for $ 1.10 was wonderful.
