Is it just me or does the shop have an odd scent? It’s a fun concept — instead of a conveyor belt, the sushi is on little boats that float on water. Sushi is pretty good — buffets are good deals, chance of overeating is very high! :)

Great place for sushi! The boats are fun and the sushi is fresh. The chef even made a few things not on the boats.

Pretty good spot. Love the boats, and the food/service was good. Could have had more nigiri options on the boats, just had to ask. Great value!

The Hibachi experience here is on par with everyone else in the area. It’s not my thing though, I come for the sushi. More specifically, I come for the All-you-can-eat sushi, which is the best in the area. They do all-you-can-eat from Sunday night through Thursday night. … which I learned on a Saturday night that cost me $ 90… The great thing, though, is that the all-you-can-eat menu is the same as the regular stuff, unlike Sakura where there’s a noticeable difference in quality. The sushi is always fresh and the chefs will make whatever you want if there isn’t already some on one of the little boats that go around. I’ve always had good service. I’ve been here at least a dozen times and other than it being a little slow a few times it’s always good, always polite.

Went with my wife for the Hibachi and was not disappointed. We have been to a few in the area and this one has the best flavor. Chef was very entertaining and cooked the did perfectly. The Mai Tai special was also good, flavor and alcohol content was quite nice for a $ 3.50 drink. Only complaint might have been service, we were seated right away but it took a bit of time before someone on the wait staff came by. Also, once the chef came over never really saw anyone again until they asked if we wanted or check. Didn’t really bother us because we were in a hurry but it could be annoying for people expecting constant attention. Overall will definitely go back and bring my friends next time.

This is Another restaurant we went to when first it opened. But that was many years ago. What was once a fast pace unique dining experienced has become a old slow boat to China. The first thing that greats you is the smell. Off putting. The floor is old and cracked, everything appears slightly worn. The round boat race is fueled with a dark unclean looking water. The boats which go around this tank kept stopping. The sushi maker had to restart it numerous times. The small selection of sushi was old and crusty. Rice is not suppose to be crunchy. The prices were all jacked up also. $ 2.75 a plate was a RIP off. I think I’ve made my last visit to «the boat»…

In town for 5 days on business and was looking for a sushi place. One of the other members in our group recommend this place. Hmmmm. So they have all you can eat on every night except Friday’s and Saturdays. Never seen this before. The AYCE price is $ 23.99 for dinner. Of course I came on an Friday, so no all you can eat. Instead all of the sushi on the boats was $ 1.99 per plate. Cheapest I have ever seen. So let’s do some Simple math here. You’d have to eat 12 plates to cover the AYCE price. Not many people I know can eat that much. Their AYCE is really not a good deal. Unless you get the lunch one, which was $ 13.99(I think) I wasn’t sure whether to be excited or scared. There were only 2 pieces of a roll per plate, hence the low price. All the rolls were just ok. Nothin exciting. The nigiri was ok. Not much flavor. Then again you get what you pay for. Overall I’ve had much bette sushi from my local independent supermarket. I’d skip this place and try something like matsuri or one of the other sushi places in town.

Ok I loved this place-LOVED with an ED at the end. Where do I start? My husband and daughter came in on Saturday night-not super busy but enough. Sat at the sushi bar-had a Living Social coupon -$ 40.00 worth of food for $ 20.00. We ate a lot of sushi and my husband ordered filet and shrimp hibachi to go. When the bill came-this is where I was ready to blow my top!!! The server informs us that in order to use that coupon instead of the plates being $ 1.99 she would have to charge us $ 2.75!!! WHAT??? How can you do that? Is that even legal? To price gauge like that! And my husbands dinner was under 40 bucks so could not use it towards that. NOPLACE on the coupon does it state what you can and cannot use it for! We left there totally disgusted! I used to love this place until Saturday! Bad business practices and the service was horrible to boot! Every time the server came to us she kept saying«did you need anything or is there something I forgot?» Total airhead and totally terrible! I have a picture of our«to go» meat and shrimp-looks like someone ran it over! NEVERAGAIN! And I will be sure to tell everyone how they run their business!

The service was horrible — it took 45 minutes to get a glass of water. When we asked about our food after an hour of waiting, we found out it was given away to another table. There is better sushi across the street.

The owners name is Park, and once you get to know him, he will do sake shots with you! Their sushi, which floats by you on boats, has many rolls conceived by Park and are quite good. However, hot item but on the boats which aren’t popular and don’t get eaten tend to stay out when they should be replaced. Also, when they’re busy, they tend together behind and the boats aren’t sufficiently filled and you can wait a while for fresh items to be put out. The AYCE special they have is worth it if you can put down a lot of sushi. On the hibachi side of the restaurant, if you get Park as your chef, he will put on the best most hilarious show you’ve ever had.

Disappointed they didn’t honored the restaurant gift certificate that i bought online for some invalid reason. They told us it is for dinner only which is not stated anywhere in their certificate,

Quote simply, the best hibachi in Chicago. I have been coming to see the owners for years and they are awesome people. The food is excellent — I recommend the teriyaki Salmon, Garlic Shrimp or Honey Chicken. It is family friendly but I highly recommend having a few Sake Bombs with Mr. Park! He is an excellent sake companion!

Currently eating takeout sushi from House of Tokyo. Was in town overnight for work and this place was close to my hotel and had decent ratings. The salad looked like iceberg from the bag(possibly nearing the«fresh until» date?), the rice was a little stale and when I got it in my car everything had a faintly fishy smell. Unfortunately, I’ve had better sushi from the grocery store. Darn! However, service was friendly and my order was ready on time.

Fun atmosphere with the little sushi boats that come around and you pick right off the boat you want. Can have made to order as well. Decent/ok sushi but good value. They have a neat charge by the plate pricing policy. Would go again.

Honestly this is the worst sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. Nothing is labeled, dirty boats float around in dirty water and the service is minimal at best. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else! Top that with the sweet sweet smell of stale cigarette smoke on the waitress and you’ve got the definition of a truly horrible restaurant. Run, don’t walk away from here!!!

When looking for sushi think of this as discount sushi. You want all you can eat… It is at that level. I tried a variety of items in a Friday night and it really just doesn’t measure up to what it used to be. Margin control makes the portions very small and quality of fish is detracting from the value. Service was also off. Nice that thy were friendly but clearly they were happier just talking among themselves. Very confused on covers which tables and attention was way off. Like I said. Save your money or know what you are getting and you will get what you expect.

We ordered appetizers to share and helped ourselves to sushi boat items. Sushi was fine. Folks in our party who don’t regularly eat sushi enjoyed the cooked rolls with lots of toppings and more experienced sushi eaters enjoyed the Maki. I’ve had better, but it’s not a bad way to expose people to new things. Where things really fell apart were the appetizers we ordered to share. The«Scallops Flambé» were incredibly overcooked and tasted like vinegary pencil erasers. The Teriyaki noodles could have come from a kit. Garlic Shrimp was greasy and salty and tasted little of garlic. Beef and asparagus rolls were tasty, but the bed of mushrooms they were served on were inexplicably greasy and vinegary. Service was great and they were really cool about our fussy baby, but between the quality and size of our appetizers I DONOT think we got what we payed for(even with a Groupon that inexplicably raised the price of our sushi.)

Bad service, bad staff, lame sushi, and cheated on bill. My wife and I went there on Valentines Day a little after 7pm and when we walked in the hostess barely said anything to us and just sat us down at the sushi bar. It took 20 minutes for anyone to come to us to offer us anything to drink. We each got one drink the whole time and we were there 1−½ hours even after trying to flag staff down to help us. The sushi menu had 30 items on it, but only 6 items were continually made and rotated on boats. Plus the boats were 80 percent empty all the time and it was common to see 10 boats in a row empty even when the sushi bar had a lot of people sitting down. It looked like everyone sitting down were disappointed with the selection and the empty boats. My wife tried to ask the sushi chef if he could add more items or make her something on the menu, but he just looked at her and didn’t answer. We got tired of waiting for more sushi selections besides the 6 items over and over again plus the sushi rice tasted like the premade sushi that you get in the grocery store. The quality was not good. When we asked for the check I presented a Groupon and the hostess refused it. I asked why and she said not valid on special offers. I said what special offer? She said happy hour special and then I said we got there after 7pm and also she didn’t mention anything about happy hour when we walked in. Then she said not valid on holidays, so I said Valentines day isn’t a holiday. Then she said Groupon not valid on days when we are busy. I stopped arguing with her and just paid the bill, but while I was waiting I went on my smartphone to check the Groupon fine print and there was nothing in the fine print about not valid on days when they are busy! Anyway, besides the hostess cheating me on the Groupon… overall, the hibachi style tables looked good(I doubt I’ll ever be back though to try it) but I suggest staying away from the sushi bar. Sushi is poorly made, many empty boats, they put out only a small selection of the overall menu, and the staff is not responsive when you need them.

I have read the other reviews and I truly had a pleasant experience. The service was good, the quality was good and the food was good. I enjoyed my experience at the boats, and devouring as much as I could. I didn’t think it was a bad deal at all.

Alright, I’ve said it before and apparently I will say it again… this is a «good in a pinch» type joint. Meaning: everything about this place is decent. It’s not amazing. It’s not terrible. It’s just all around decent. Here’s a quick run down of the pros and cons I noticed whilst filling my gaping maw with sushi: Pros: 1. It has both a teppenyaki grill side and a sushi bar side. Pick your poison. 2. The sushi bar is adorable. It’s a little hut with cute boats floating around with a nice assortment of sushi on them. In real water! Sans obvious conveyor belt. Obviously, I’m easily impressed even though I didn’t partake. 3. The Boston Maki was delicious! Nice chunks of tuna with creamy avocado. Perfect. 4. My friend seemed to really enjoy her Dragon and Philadelphia rolls too… nice fresh chunks of fish in each. Cons: 1. The Sapporo Maki and Spicy Tuna were meh. Neither were spicy as promised and both were totally chopped and mushed together salads of either crab or tuna. It’s the Spicy Tuna Maki that gets me, and this one didn’t live up to my snobby sushi standards. 2. Service is OKAY. Not overly quick or friendly, but it gets the job done.
