Who doesn’t love a good festival on the St. Charles Riverfront? Having never been to Oktoberfest, but to many of the other festivals held here, we were excited to see what it was all about. When you entered the area, you are ushered to a tent where you had to purchase a $ 2 wristband that was the vendors way of seeing that you were over 21. While this can be a time saver as vendors don’t want to ask for IDs, it can be a waste of money for those people who don’t plan to drink too much and have to pay for this on top of everything else. We didn’t see a lot of people with them on. We then walked around the vendors and the booths which there were plenty of. Most popular were the beer ones. There were more people up on the cobblestone Main Street looking at the shops, the restaurants and the classic car show. Parking, like with any other St. Charles festival, was hard to find but if you’re a veteran of heading down there, you know the secret spots to pull into. Cheers to Oktoberfest and for our first visit!
