Okay so I bragged to my husband how much he missed a wonderful dinner we had here last time. My mouth was watering just thinking about going tonight… boy was I let down and disappointed BIGTIME! We waited to be seated for at least 7 mins within clear sight of the owner watching us at the bar.(Hindsight we should’ve left then) It should NEVER take a family of 3 with only 7 tables full in the restaurant 2 hours… NEVER! Wait… drinks. Wait and wait and wait and wait… salad. So on and so on… WAIT! On top of that WAIT my food was cold even after Val put it on the hot plate. AGAIN… wait. They served cold rubbery veggies as our side-we dare not complain because of… more wait. Take away our teas for a refill after the 1st glass and forget to bring them back… wait. Finally my son stood up to get their attention for the check… wait! In the mean time all but 2 tables had guests. waiting some more! Unless you want mediocre cold food and waste ½ your evening in this establishment. WAITING…stir clear!

The service was great, my lamb was enormous and delicious, and the staff was extremely attentive and friendly. We reserved our Christmas party here last minute, and it ended up being a great choice. The place was packed, but we had our own private room. Everyone raved about how great the food was.

We had a friend recommend Spiro’s to us. The whole experience was fantastic. The restaurant was quite enough for a date night. Each dish was delicious and the service was impeccable. I highly recommend eating here!

We had eaten here shortly after they opened this location and weren’t impressed. Recently I convinced the husband to give it a second chance. We were mostly pleased with this experience. The hummus app was good but it’s hard to mess up hummus. I enjoyed my trio of Greek dishes but DH was less impressed with his fish special. It was a bit dry and overpriced. I think we will stick with Greek which is clearly their forte. The server gave us a slice of baklava on the house which was a very nice touch. It was super sweet with plenty of honey. It’s close and reliably good with their specialties so we will be returning.

The Athenian salad was great. We ordered the tsatziki with pita bread which was fantastic. The moussaka was really good. The pasta con broccoli was somewhat bland, but that was easily remedied with salt and pepper. As i am very picky about white sauce this was probably just my personal preference. The consistency of the sauce was really good though. First time trying baklava, which was excellent. The server took great care of us and somebody was always nearby to refill our drinks. Most of the dishes were prepared or finished at the table, which was a nice touch. Portions were very generous so the pricing was fair as well.

Not bad. Kind of expensive for the quality of the food. Not the best Greek food in town. Leg of lamp was very over cook. Steak didn’t have a lot of anything. Nothing special at all

Been to Spiros several times, and have always had a great experience. The saganaki(flaming cheese) is a MUST try, and their kebabs and gyros are great. Love some of the other greek dishes too. The service is superb, with a friendly and attentive staff. The only gripe I have is that the lobby area is very poorly decorated and«cheapens» the experience overall. I wish they’d spruce it up.

I was looking for something off the beaten path for a meal for my sister, her friends, our mom and aunt. My sister has a tendency to stick to cheeseburgers and pizzas, so I thought this might be fun, to get her to try greek food. SHELOVEDIT. The whole party loved it. Our waiter, Val(Valenteen) was amazing. He joked around with us and treated us like royalty. The food was fantastic, I couldn’t have asked for a better meal. We ordered the cheese appetizer and the presentation, of lighting it on fire, was really impressive, not to mention it tasted delicious. I ordered the beef ka-bobs and have never had meat that melted in my mouth like it did. Everyone’s meals were great. The head chef came out to talk to us, it was a really special night. Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I brought our mothers here for Mother’s Day today. We have lived in St. Charles for a long time, but this was our first time at Spiro’s. We expected it to be nice, but it far surpassed our expectations! The waiter was great, the food presentation was great(many things prepared at our table), the service was great(drink refills and so on), and food was excellent. Two of the dishes we had were Chicken Kabob with rice and Grilled Chicken Pasta. Wonderful! The maitre de visited our table and was a joy to talk with. We will definitely be back!

Don’t come to Spiro’s on New Year Eve. Reservations mean Nothing. We are finally getting our food 2 hours after our reservations!

I went to Spiro’s a year ago for dinner and am just getting around to reviewing it now. Details have faded. General impressions: It’s a classy place that isn’t trying too hard with the décor, unlike some restaurants.
The food was good. I probably had baklava for dessert and I’m sure it was delicious. Service was excellent! Prices average for the high quality. Don’t let that industrial Hwy 94 location scare you away. Spiro’s is a nice place.

Everyone — from the host, to our server, and even the owner(who personally stopped by our table to chat) — was so welcoming and helpful. This was my second visit — and I will definitely be coming back! Ask your server for menu suggestions — and you shall receive! We had the Tzatziki and Saganaki(fried cheese) to start(my friend says she could go back daily for the Saganaki– I can’t imagine that would fare well for any Summer diet plans lol)! We split the Pepperloin($ 3 split fee but they gave each of us the potato and vegetables that come with the normal sized order — so an overwhelmingly great deal)! My friend’s boyfriend had the lamb gyro– another super delicious entrée. Just writing this review is making me want to head back to the burbs again this week to enjoy more of what Spiros has to offer…

5 star food + 3 star service = 4 stars overall We asked to be seated as far away from the smoking area as possible, and consequently ended up in the back dining room by ourselves. That resulted in mediocre service, as most of the staff were attending to tables in the main dining room. We had to ask for drink refills and remind the servers that we were there, but after that they took decent care of us. They did hit on one of my four restaurant pet peeves though: the waiter was quick to snatch the receipt after we paid. Grr… Regarding the food, the saganaki was not as great as Greek Islands in Chicago, but I really never met a flambeed cheese that I didn’t like. The gyros was the second-best I’ve had in the STL area, losing by a narrow margin to the Greeks at the Festival of Nations. Overall a solid choice for dinner and we will definitely return!

This is the best restaurant in the St Louis area. The food is always great, I have been coming to this location for years. The service is awesome and the atmosphere is great for families or dates.

We go here every couple of months when we get a taste for their sea bass, which is regularly available and fantastic. Also enjoy the tableside preparation of salads and Greek appetizers, adds a little nice touch to the atmosphere.

Spiro’s is acceptable — nothing more, nothing less. After years of hearing friends positively drool at the mention of Spiro’s, my fiancé and I decided to give it a try last night. We both started with the agvolemono soup. It was light and delicious — some of the best we’ve ever had. The bread that is served prior to the meal is fantastic too. We both ordered the gyros. They were okay — nothing special per se, but definitely decent. The meat was a bit dry; however, the portions were very fair for the price. My fiancé got the Greek fries — the potatoes were a bit undercooked for his liking and had a definite crunch. I got vegetables for my side and they were some of the best I’ve ever had — perfectly seasoned and steamed to perfection. The food deserves three(maybe three and a half) stars, but what caused me to dock Spiro’s another star was the service. I couldn’t help but notice that every other table near ours was visited by the waiter much more often than we were. It seemed like everyone else was being waited on hand and foot, while we had to wait almost ten minutes for a water refill and another fifteen at the end of the meal to receive our check. Meanwhile, we watched as the other patrons received stellar service. I don’t know if it’s because we’re young or because we didn’t order the most expensive thing on the menu… either way, it was extremely off-putting. The difference between the level of service at our table versus others was extremely jarring and made us feel very uncomfortable. I’ve said this in other reviews and I’ll say it again — it’s a dangerous business to judge people based on appearances, age, or what they order. You never know how well someone can tip and who is just waiting to write Unilocal reviews(positive or negative) for your business. Shame on you, Spiro’s, for undermining your own good reputation and delicious food with your overinflated ego!

We went there for dinner while spending a weekend in St. Louis with our 11 year old. It was St. Patrick’s day so the restaurant was unusually empty for a Saturday night. We virtually had the place to ourselves. The food was 5-star all the way! We had a couple of appetizers(toasted ravioli & saganaki) which were both quite delicious. The saganaki was prepared table-side and done a little differently than what we see in Chicago — not worse, just different. I liked it a little better; my wife liked it a little less. Dinners were the sampler platter for me(all greek — all great!); the 6 oz. fillet for the 11 year old(I tried a bite and it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had in a restaurant); and the sea bass for the wife(less greek — absolutely amazing!). We finished dinner with a piece of their chocolate cake and only left a few crumbs. Our waiter was excellent and we left a 25% tip. All in all, a great meal for a reasonable price given that we were out the door for about $ 135. The reason I only gave them four stars is because they did two things which utterly pissed us off: 1. There was nobody at the hostess stand when we walked in. The couple behind us waited for a minute or two and then called somebody over, thus jumping us in line and commandeering the staff to set up their table while we waited. Ass bags! 2. We had been at our table at the far end of the dining room for a matter of minutes when they sat another party right next to us… with a toddler. How could they not have known that a toddler brought out after 8pm would disturb other diners?!? Again, the place was virtually empty and there was absolutely no excuse for putting us in the position where we had to ask for a different table just to ensure we could enjoy our $ 100+ meal without hearing a kid(who really should have been in bed instead of the restaurant) screaming and banging things around. I don’t blame the restaurant for the parents poor decision but there were at least 20 open tables that were NOT right next to us they could have given the other party and at a place like this such a blunder is just unforgivable.
