Buffet City

Gonna start off by saying this, I’m sure if there was a surprise health inspection, this place would be shut down. Grab any plate in the place and you can feel the residual grease that the poor dish washing job left behind, not only that but several plates have old food on them as well. As I sat at my table, which happened to be a couple tables from the back where the servers prepare the silverware, I spotted one of the servers using his thumb to rub off spots from the spoon, I also spied him picking or rubbing his nose as he rolled the silverware into the napkins. Don’t get me started on the cleanliness of the bathroom, my 3 year old need to poop so I took him into the bathroom, we walked right back out after seeing feces spread on the toilet seat and floor of the stall. So long story short unless you feel like getting hep-​C or some other disease I would steer clear of this place.

Absolutely disgusting. There was a chair with a bucket of dirty water and a rag floating in it at the table behind mine– gross.
And the food? Oh wow– where to even start… shrimp dish. the shrimp were SOFT… gag. No flavor. The chicken on a stick– burnt, doused with curry. The raw food bar where you select things to be cooked at hibachi– it was warm, I was concerned about safe food handling. The hibachi grill was so disgustingly dirty, I would not eat anything cooked on there– caked over with old food and grease– yuck. And the line up was about 6 deep waiting.
Yellow rice was overcooked, soft, and no flavor. The fried rice was just an off white rice with some peas, again, overcooked. All of the chicken dishes were thighs– no white meat to be seen anywhere.
There was what I think was supposed to be a broccoli beef dish– the meat was too tough to chew and the broccoli was mush.
There are several bars of food– massive amounts, but nothing was good.
The desert bar had some sort of lemon looking things, and some really bad store bought brownie squares.
Fruit was bathed in syrup.
Waitress never came to refill drinks.
The «Chinese donuts» were sweet corn muffins sprinkled with sugar.
My teen daughter literally refused to eat I ended up having to take her somewhere else. She’s the smart one.
Won’t be back– go to Sonny’s for BBQ instead. or heck, Sonic is just across the street.
Just bad bad bad.

So gross! Watched an associate wipe down the buffet with a rag, use a bathroom stall with rag in hand, then continue wiping down the buffet with the same rag!!!

Been here 3 times and always leave satisfied. Lots of food variety, leaning toward Chinese food but very good
They have all the sushi you can eat for 12 bucks… Highly recommended.

I will admit that I was a bit apprehensive going here after seeing a bunch of negative reviews.
There were plenty of selections to choose from, the general appearance was clean, the help was friendly and drinks were refilled quickly. Even after a second trip I would still hold this rated at a «4». Its a good value for the money.

Have been coming to this location since it was whistle Junction so many years ago here in St. Cloud. I will agree with all the previous reviews in that the quality of food, cleanliness, tastiness, consistency, and staff has gone downhill about as far as it can go. It’s as if no one cares about anything except making money. The previous owners kept quality very high but now… its gross. My family refuses to come back here and I don’t believe I can give it another chance.
I just watched a veteran try to get ice cream out of the cooler that is entirely too cold and the ice cream is nearly rockhard. I think this gentleman deserves a little bit better treatment. The wall in back of the ice cream cooler was so filthy that we are leaving and not coming back, and you can’t even tell the staff about it because they don’t speak English! I asked if a manager or the owner were here tonight and neither are here tonight and when the cats away…

I have been here a few times now and I feel it has been hit or miss sometimes but overall I like it. I do think for the price it is more than worth the money. The restaurant is quite large and open. Always appears very clean. The staff seats you when you come in almost right away and takes your drink order. The selection is more than enough to satisfy anyone’s craving. They have a large selection of sushi and sashimi and are willing to make some if you don’t like what they have made. I like sushi without seeweed so they make it for me. The sushi is worth the price alone. They have the usual items as expected on the buffet including good size mussels which is one of my favorites. The mongolian grill is a nice touch, you pick items for them to cook and they make it right in front of you. They also have more specialty items that are on the after 4pm menu but nothing that would make me want to pay an extra 3.00. For an extra 5.99 on the of the extra 3.00 they have crab legs. There is more than enough as a said on the regular menu. I do feel at times that items could be hotter and refilled in a more timely matter. They are sell by the pound for take out. I would consider this with the mongolian grill. Our drinks were never empty and the waitress remembered that I like lime with my tea. (A nice touch). I have never had a bad interaction with the staff here. The bathrooms were clean on all the occasions that I was here but I do feel they should be updated a bit. They do offer a coupon in these little coupon books that are everywhere but you can’t use it on the weekend. I am sure that there are probably better buffets out there but for the price and the location this one does the trick.

All I have to say is DISGUSTING!!! I feel filthy after eating here!!! We ate here before few years ago so we decided to stop by last night oh man never again! Food was all cold the steak I order tasted like it smelled burnt just awful :(at least the waiter was fast and nice

Ate there again today, between lunch and dinner. I guess since there was not so many people that they did not care if the food got cold.
The green beans were wilted.
The stuffed mushrooms were cold.
The wonton was cold.
I have been living here now for 3 yrs, like another Unilocaler wrote,“the place has gone downhill”.it used to be a good place to eat.
While I was eating I kept smelling urine I don’t know why.
, I lost my appetite and left.

Sorry but I have to agree with so many of the reviewers here. We had a big party of 13 so we looked for a place that coukd accomdate us, and this pme did.
Seems like it must have fallen in hard times. The staff was very friendly but we also waited what seemed like forever for refills of our drinks. Additionally the restaurant was not all that clean. We went later on a weekend so I assumed that they just got over a rush. The food was typical Chinese buffet fare and nothing really stuck out as tasty, nor fresh. I’d give it another shot, but not when I’m hungry.

I read the reviews and thought I’d give it a shot. Disappointment, my husband had to ask 3 times for his drink, the food was cold and seemed not fresh. In fairness we were there at 8:30 so that could of been part of the issue. The service could of been better, the hibachi grill is what drew us in and that was a huge disappointment, nothing like our hibachi grills back home. Prob wouldn’t recommend or return. Was not worth the $ 52.14 for a family of four.

I hate to give such a low rating to a hometown restaurant. I was shocked by how the quality of the food has declined in the last 2 years. There is plenty of selection with a lot of variety however everything I had was below average in taste in quality. Lunch was $ 8.65 without a drink. It is definitely below average when compared with other Chinese buffet. I would not recommend it.

This is great for an oriental American buffet. Soup is tastey, salads are fresh. They had roast beef and pork roast meat was well seasoned and not cooked dry. Sushi was fresh and the hibachi grill was AWESOME! Won’t walk away hungry. Staff is friendly and helpful.

I’ve been here a couple of times and always enjoyed it. Large selections. Food is pretty good. I like the chilled fresh shrimp and the multiple selections for sushi. Everything seems pretty fresh. Establishment is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. I will certainly return when I’m in the area again.

Decent selection for a local pig trough. The garlic sauce was mild compared to other hibach, but fine. Not enough fresh fruits– canned pineapple, pears, peaches. Sushi selection was better than most. Frog legs, squid and oysters were a plus.

Horrible Buffett this is the first time I have ever been to a Buffett and left hungry. Horrible food everything was greasy undercooked, and even something so basic as a decent sushi was nasty, it is like the water they used to cook the rice was faucet water. Cashier had a poor attitude and could careless if my meal was decent or not. This is the very last time I ever come here. Definitely do not recommend not even to someone homeless with chump change to spare for food…

I have slightly low expectations of Chinese buffets, simply because the vast majority of buffets have to produce quantity over quality unless you charge $ 30 per person like Disney does. So, I tend to eat at buffets expecting a ‘three star’ experience. It’s not a bad thing, just my expectations.
Buffet City came highly recommended by a customer of mine, so I brought the wife the other day. We arrived in time for lunch, which was reasonably priced. The room was around 40% capacity and with a low buzz in the air, which was a good sign. We were shown to a table, drinks ordered and proceeded to the buffet. The food seemed like staple fare, so we filled our plates.
Once we began eating, we noticed the utensils were quite dirty and we had no drinks yet. After a bit, we had drinks, but about three minutes into eating, both my wife and I felt sick after both having the Honey Chicken. I’m completely willing to assume it was one bad batch, but the place is pretty out of the way for us, and I think we’ll stick to places a bit more local to us in the future.

It seems this place is always busy so today we decided why not! Let say first of all price point is not horrible however the food is what you pay for. The pizza looked like plastic and was cold to the touch along with many other items… French fries, chicken, crab and so on. The hibachi was the only saving grace for hot food! About mid way through lunch my wife looked at me and said this is horrible I think I am going to vomit! never a good sign!!! I can honestly say that this place is subpar at best and I would not recommend this place to an enemy… Or would I???

This place is okay compared to the Chinese buffet that use to be over by Valencia West campus. It seems this Buffet City plays more on quantity over quality. The flavor in the food is not where it should be. You can still make the food flavorful without loading it with salt. Guess what I’m trying to say that it’s okay for what it is. But if you are looking for the best Chinese buffet in town, Buffet City is not the place.
