I tend to not care much for who cuts my hair. I’m a 24 year old guy living in the area and usually go wherever is most convenient for me. However, I booked a last second appointment with Maria Tahopoulos and she was great! Not only did she give a great cut, she was a pleasure to speak with. Cost of the haircut was somewhat pricey, but worth it if you’re looking to get the cut you desire. I highly recommend Jay Michael’s — ask for Maria!

Years ago, I had a very cute pixie cut, and for the past few months, I had been thinking about going back to that hairstyle. Having not lived in the Philadelphia area for very long, however, I was wary of just going to any random salon and having all my hair chopped off. Then I was recommended to Jay Michael Salon, specifically to Maria, who is AWESOME! She did an absolutely wonderful job with my hair, and was super kind and patient, even when I was late to my appointment(I went to their old location by accident so double-check in case your smart phone is also not very smart, like mine). I thought it would be really expensive, but the price was totally reasonable. And I got to meet Jay Michael, who is also awesome! Thank you, Maria! Note: they only accept tips via cash or check(no adding it to your credit card), so make sure to bring one or the other.

I have been going to the stylist and colorist for many years. They are both wonderful! Unfortunately, the salon is run extremely poorly. The prices are outrageous, and go up from what they quote you when you book the appointment. the management will not entertain any constructive criticism. This is no way to run a business! There are so many lovely salons on the Main Line, that I’m sure that I can find one where both the stylists and owners are kind and reasonable people. Won’t be back!!!

I had the absolute worst hair color experience of my life at this salon! My hair is now a nightmare. Judi did my base color and hilites. The base color came out several shades too dark. I went back a few days later, she agreed it came out too dark. She said she put too much«drab» in the color. She said she would put in a few more hilites, and then a toner. We’ll, after the toner was in for a while, she checks it and says she left it in too long and my hair is a mousy brown. I thought she was joking, but she wasn’t! My hilites and base were now an ugly brassy color. Her comment to me was — well, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be between me and you. The salon did not offer to remedy the situation. Instead they told me that my hair looks fine. I called Jay ‘Michael himself the next day, who told me he was too busy to talk to me and hung up the phone on me. I am now trying to find another salon to fix it, and will require corrective color. My hair looks so ugly.

Great haircuts for men are rarer than an honest politician. True story… and I am not in politics, trust me. I’ve had my hair cut by people all over the freaking world, including in languages I did not understand(this did not turn out well, mind you…) and JJ Manning at Jay Michael in Radnor is the very best. Never wanted my hair to look like every other Docker’s wearing suburbanite and JJ always made sure my hair looked awesome. The man took 10 years off my life without making me look like some aged version of Justin Bieber. So, if you’re a man, looking for someone who can actually cut your hair really well, go see JJ. The dude is Michaelangelo with scissors. Yes, guys, he actually will cut your hair short with something other than an electric trimmer. «That’s crazy!», you say, but really, life is too short to have a shit hair cut. You can look better and its a phone call away.

My hair looks incredible. I booked an appointment with Maria A, hadn’t been to the salon since they were on Montgomery Ave so I didn’t know what to expect. Maria A is amazing. She listened to what I was looking for and exceeding all my expectations. Another plus? She is awesome and was so fun to chat with as she made my hair look super. I had a spring wedding to go to and she took me from frumpy to glam in less than 45minuted. She’s a wizard.

Got a great cut a very reasonable price 40 which was less than i expected. My stylist was Steven and he was very personable and professional. I have naturally curly hair and the cut looked great. I definitely recommend and will be going back. I later sent my husband in and he didn’t want any fuss and Steven got him in and out quickly.

I was there for an updo this past weekend. The whole experience except for the stylist was awful. The salon opened early for us(we were getting updos for a wedding) and while one of the girls was getting her hair done the stylist told me it was ok to blow dry my hair(I brought my own blow dryer and straightner) and while I was blowing it dry the salon manager told me that I had to be done by 8:30(they don’t open until 9). It was very rude you don’t tell a paying customer that. I was drying it so that stylist didn’t have to. So at this point I was not happy and really didn’t want to get my hair done but I did because I had no other options. So I let the stylist do my hair and she does a good job, but when it came time to pay it was $ 125. That’s a robbery for an updo. It wasn’t anything crazy just standard curls pinned up. I was expecting to pay max $ 75. So I felt robbed. I was just a bridesmaid. So I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone or ever go back myself.
