Jay was an excellent inspector, very thorough and extremely knowledgeable. Not only does he do his job well but he helps you learn more about your new house and the best things you can do to keep it in great condition. Jay is very personable and made the inspection a great experience. He also keeps a great website with tons of valuable information that will certainly come in handy.

My fiancé and I are first time homebuyers, purchasing a 100 year old home, and relatively inexperienced when it comes to handy work. The mere concept of a home inspection was very overwhelming as we just don’t know very much about homes or the process. My grandparents, who have done a lot of DIY in their homes and were landlords for a time, came with to offer insight and make sure we knew what was going on. Jay explained everything at a level that I was able to understand, and then walked through what the fix would look like in regards to how severe it really was. He would show us pictures and demonstrate what was wrong each time and really gave us clear and open communication throughout.
My grandparents (who have bought and sold 20+ properties in their day) were also very impressed with how he explained everything and how thorough both he and his report were. They were there to make sure we were understanding everything appropriately, but honestly we would have been fine even without. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a home inspector that will really make sure you understand what you’re purchasing!

We were referred to Jay, (Acuity) through our realtor and have been very happy with his service. The inspection was thorough and complete. The report was provided to us expediently and was professionally done with color photos and explanations of the concerns listed. During the inspection Jay offered to «pop on over» or «call him» if we had any further questions or concerns. I didn’t expect to need the extra guidance and considered the offer a polite gesture. However, as the home buying process continued, I ended up calling Jay two more times and asked if he could come over a second time to view an issue we found after buying the house. All three extra contacts, Jay was more than thorough and extremely helpful. He didn’t seem pestered by the extra calls, in fact, it was the opposite and there weren’t any additional charges for the guidance.
