We recently rented a 19ft powerboat and were assisted by Russ. He was both helpful and knowledgable. Rental process was smooth, boat in great condition. Look forward to renting from you guys again!

My wife and I did the sunset sailing tour with shelling on little St. George. We loved it! We had Captain David, and he did an excellent job! The wind wasn’t cooperating, so we ended up having to use the motor for the majority of the trip, but David did give us the chance to experience some sailing when the wind was blowing, but knew we wanted to do the shelling as well so he made sure we had the chance to do that as well. He understood what it was we wanted, and balanced it out so that we could get a little of everything. As far as Journeys, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed our experience.

Booked a bay and flats fishing charter through Journeys and we were lucky enough to be assigned to Captain Larry. The whole experience was fantastic. Myself and my husband are not that experienced at fishing(or rather catching fish) but Larry was more than patient with us. He is very knowledgable of the area and worked hard to find us spots where the fish were biting. We ended our half day with a take home catch of 25 fish ranging from trout to black drum and a large sheepshead. We must have caught an addition 20 plus catfish and stingray which added to the fun. On top of all this, Larry not only cleaned and filleted the fish we caught, he also delivered our catch to our rental home. A great day on the water — I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area — we will definitely be back.

ONEOFTHEMOSTAMAZINGEXPERIENCESOFMYLIFE!!! We booked a fishing charter through Journey’s with Captain Jack on 7÷7÷15, for 5 people,… all of us from Tennessee,. and all of us pretty decent«fishermen/women» … Or so we thought… Deep sea fishing is SOMUCHOF A RUSH! Not only did we catch fish as soon as we cast out first thing in the morning, we caught them all day, Red Snapper, Cobia, King Mackeral,. Which was so much fun, and we were all having such a blast… ANDTHEN… And then we caught a 300 lb. Goliath Grouper!!! It took almost all of us taking turns for around 45 mins to actually reel it in. And when I finally saw it coming up out of the water,… so Glorious,… and not to mention, THESIZEOF A SMALLCAR, My eyes and heart both skipped a beat. I’ve never seen a fish that big. Maybe in an aquarium, yes,. but this was BYOURBOAT, ON A LINE,. right there. To touch, and see up close… I’ve traveled a lot of places, and seen a lot of things, but I PROMISE– I will NEVER forget this experience as long as I live, Thank you so much, Journeys and Captain Jack!!!

Everyone at Journeys is really nice and helpful. The shop seemed to offer an assortment of outfitting items for just about every need. We were booking a fishing charter which was to take place on Monday, but got moved to Tuesday because the Captain was ill, but then got moved to Friday because of bad weather. The office really does try to work with you and wants you to have a good time. You aren’t charged anything until you actually take your trip. Our trip ended up okay. The weather was nice and we caught an interesting assortment of fish. There are local places which will cook it for you, but we were heading home the next morning and didn’t get to try any of them out.

Tropical Storm Karen churned up the Gulf so much during a recent October visit to St. George Island that the original plan to paddle around the island was scuttled. Instead our group was taken by van to a pristine part of the peaceful Apalachicola River where the water was quite high due to heavy rains this summer. Our Journeys guide, a young woman who goes by Leesee(Lissy), was a very competent group leader who managed handling the van and trailer, finding the remote spot where we put in and off-loading several kayaks with ease. The calm water made for an easy paddle as we navigated narrow passages single file as well as wide swaths where we fanned out, always keeping an eye out for snakes. Wildlife sightings are scarce on our trip but gators and turtles would likely have been spotted if their usual perches weren’t below the water line. There were a few spiders and spider webs and a small green guy hitched a ride on my kayak for a short bit but the only other creatures present were birds and a dog on a passing powerboat. When you arrive to check in for your choice of kayak trips, paddleboard lessons or excursions, fishing, birding or shelling tours via powerboat, you’ll find the business is located in a lovely structure that doubles as a shop where you can purchase clothes, kayaks, sunglasses and pretty much anything you may have forgotten to pack that might come in handy — paddling gloves, anyone? The real advantage for this outfitter is that Journeys is located in an ideal area of the Panhandle that is perfect for outdoor adventures. Great destination for those who love to get outdoors and play!

The fishing trip around the island was awesome. Captain Krista is a real treasure. Book with her if at all possible. She put us on fish everywhere, told great stories, was very knowledgeable and friendly(and gorgeous). We caught some nice redfish and trout and learned a lot about fishing and boating, all while safely dodging rainstorms. AWESOMEDAY. We will be back.

Went to rent a paddleboard and get a lesson. However they required 2 person minimum for lesson… oh well my friend wouldn’t do it. Nevertheless, family that runs this place is awesome! I rented a paddleboard for the afternoon, they loaded it up on my vehicle with straps and protective gear for the car. Gave me some quick simple instructions to teach myself and off I was to the waters! Granted it took me some time, but I got myself going on it. A great way to spend the day at the beach. paddling when you felt like it. Was easy to load back up on the car and drop off. The owner’s son was really down to earth, friendly and helpful and should get kudos for his work! I would definately recommend this place. You can probably get tubes to rent and float on the water too here… among kayaks, surfboards etc… also has swamp tours which we didn’t have time for. Be careful. the paddleboard is solid. i broke a couple toes on 2nd of only 2 falls… dumbass. :)
