I have and will always enjoy eating at chuck a Rama I came with my grandparents and it was a pleasant experience. I really enjoyed the food. The only downside to when we went was the bathrooms, they were dirty and I don’t like dirty bathrooms! I would go back for the food any day!

I will admit this was not on my To-Do List after the Zion Half Marathon, but it won me over and in spite of it’s perfectly appropriate name, it really is a pretty good buffet for the price. Don’t come in here expecting a Vegas/hotel experience. The ambiance is more like a family coffee house than anything else. It’s head-and-shoulders above the Hometown Buffets we find clogging the arteries of Californians. A post-run visit to this institution of fine dining in St. George, Utah. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, but the offerings on that Sunday morning were very tasty. The greens for the salads were fresh and crisp. The meats were very Middle America, which is to be expected, but not overly seasoned. If you’re hungry in St. George and want to enjoy an unhurried meal with good service, I can’t recommend«Chuck-A-Rama Buffet.»

Now, you may wonder why I gave a buffet a 5-Star review. It is because the quality of the food is great. Everything tastes good and has flavor which is tough with mass produced food. They also have a great selection of foods, and everything is clean and fresh. I love their whole wheat rolls, banana bread, bread pudding, mac & cheese, and carved meats. Eeish baba!

If you know going in its gonna be a buffet then you get exactly what you expected. Lots of choices, carving station, desserts, starches galore… not a lot of actual vegetable choices but let’s face it… you didn’t look at a place called Chuck-a-Rama because you’re a vegetarian or healthy eating nut. Cheap, easy, fun for a family.

I’m actually surprised by all the 5 star ratings, but to each his own! The entre selections here are few, which is something I’m not accustomed to in regard to a «buffet.» Fried chicken that was a bit soggy, Mexican-Italian style lasagna, ricotta stuffed pasta shells and a small carving station. The salad selections were great and the absolute best part of this buffet is the desserts! Delicious cakes! We sampled them all and were not disappointed. Mad house. Unorganized. Just a few words that come to mind when considering the overall feel of this place. Granted, we were there on a Saturday evening, so I expected long lines and they certainly snaked from the front door inward, but the place was utter chaos. There were many open, clean tables, but there was only one girl who walked back and forth, back and forth from one end of the restaurant to the other, scoping available tables and then seating those waiting at the podium. If you’re from Vegas then you may lack the patience for this place lol They do not have people standing at their sections and radioing the table availability back to the hostess. 13 bucks for adults and the price for young children starts at age 4 and increases a bit for every year. The desserts are so yummy that they account for 2 stars, but that’s as good as it gets. I will not be eating here again.

The atmosphere left alot to be desired. It would have been nice if there had been rubber wheels on the carts transporting the stacks of dishes… it was deafening! The servers clearing tables have no regard for people’s hearing comfort as they throw dishes into the tubs. Then there’s the food… chicken is dry, not a very big selection to choose from(nothing compared to Golden Corral) and flys were everywhere landing on the food in the fruit and salad bars! We both had headaches later that evening and felt very nausious. Woke up this morning with the same type of headache and sick feeling… not good people! Worst buffet experience ever!

6÷11÷15. Went to C.A.R. Today this is our third time the last 2 months we live in Mesquite, nv. That’s 3 times of the best quality an service I don’t know what else to say and I’m a real critic of food place.

…I really hate buffet’s…all of them… and yet I love this place… dragged in here once on the way to Brianhead skiing and could not believe the quality for the price… stop in whenever I need a big carbo load for a long Zion weekend…

If your looking for decent comfort food, this place is good. I really love their salad bar. It’s nice that they have a lot of kid friendly options. The scones are so yummy! The only thing they could do better is to clean off dirty tables and clear plates a little quicker.

I drive to St. George from Vegas just for this place! Homemade deserts, bread, food, even the salads taste better than norm? I’m in love with this place!

As an expert on buffets I am exceedingly upset about a huge predicament at this«chuck-a-Rama» people make a big deal out of. The problem? Pizza. A fairly decent-not even decent– buffet would have at least 10 different pizza selections and they would all look and taste delicious. This so-called-buffet had one option of pizza and it looked horrific. Pizza should be cheesy and have steam slowly rising from it and the topping should look fresh and inviting. this one looked like trash. I’m not oscar the grouch so I don’t typically spend time around garbage cans or anything that goes in one. until tonight at chuck-a-Rama. Thank you. But whole wheat rolls and cinnamon honey butter were delectable. but the pizza.

I used to go to Chuck-a-Rama with my grandparents when I was younger, but as I got older buffets sort of fell out of fashion with me. I guess that is because I always associated them with low quality, high quantity. I pride myself as being somewhat of a foodie and I would say that I have almost nothing in common with the average Chuck-a-Rama patron. But lately I seem to have rediscovered how amazingly good Chuck-a-rama is, despite being a «buffet restaurant». Seriously, this place has delicious, hot, quality food. Granted, the name is odd and its somewhat a tribute to Utah’s quirky culture. Name aside, there is probably no better value than Chuck-a-rama when it comes to price paid and quality(and quantity, if you wish) of food received. My wife and I picked up several slices of fresh carved, oven-roasted turkey that was moist, tender, and delicious. The roast beef was equally tender and delicious. The roasted carrots, onions, and potatoes were amazing. Mashed potatoes, chicken wings, cornbread, delicious rolls. It’s WAY to easy to go overboard here. Eating there tonight felt like what Thanksgiving dinner should have been for me last Thanksgiving. I also want to point out how good their salad bar is. Lots of fresh greens and sides to customize your own. Or, pick from many healthy ready-made salads(apple slaw, Asian chicken salad, broccoli salad, Greek salad, cucumber salad, etc.). I had three plates of various salads before I even dug into the heartier dishes. It is easy to get lots of quality fruits, veggies, and to eat really healthy here. Or, you can eat really unhealthy and just indulge yourself. It’s your choice. Desserts are also very, very good with lots of choices. Every time I leave Chuck-a Rama I usually have two thoughts: 1) Why did I eat so much? 2) Why don’t we come here more often? Like other buffet chains, this place has lots of choices. But unlike other buffet chains, the quality of each dish feels is good and tastes similar to what you’d find at an above average steakhouse.

We were staying for a few days in St. George just down the street from Chuck-a-Rama. After hearing so many radio ads, checking on Unilocal and even hearing local newscasters rave about the place, we decided to give it a try. Yes, it is a buffet, but the food is downright good. We went on a Sunday, or their«Family Day,» where comfort foods abound. Everything we tried was good but also quality stuff. Highly impressed with everything they had to offer. Everything was fresh and well-seasoned. Too bad Chuck-A-Ramas are only in Utah.

Do not be fooled by the off-putting name, this place is the bomb. Went here twice for lunch(Oct 2014) after 1. Not wanting to eat at Chick-fil-a 2. Reading the surprisingly positive Unilocal reviews. This place is right off of the freeway and has an older looking sign. Again, do not let that deter you. Lunch for 1 adult is $ 9.99 plus tax and is worth every penny. This place has a TON of salads — green salads, pasta salads, vegetable /sauce salads. I loaded up on broccoli salad and a giant green salad and was super impressed by their dressing selection. Living in Vegas I’ve been to expensive(such as Wynn, Cosmo, Caesar’s) and low budget buffets, and honestly, apart from Caesar’s, I would honesty prefer to eat here. I hate chicken fried steak but the stuff here looked so good that I had to try a piece. Topped with roasted bell peppers and white gravy, hands down the most delicious thing I ate all month. This place has tons of desserts, but they’re actually good. Vegas desserts may look good but are either tasteless or blah. All their various cakes are moist & flavorful here. I suggest the fresh berry cake. They have drinks galore — club soda, apple beer, horchata and even an ICEE machine. Definitely cool! Honestly, I’d drive all the way to St. George just for lunch here. Will be back.

500th Review!!! I used to be a big buffet fan when I was younger but have been less turned on by them as I’ve gotten older. But this spot was surprisingly good and I would drive back to St George for sure just to eat here! Pricing is reasonable at $ 9.99 lunch and $ 12.99 dinner and Sundays, and because the buffet area isn’t overwhelmingly big, food doesn’t sit too long before it’s consumed and then replaced with freshly cooked goodness. I have to admit, the buffet looked a lot bigger when I first arrived but I soon realized that it was all an illusion due to the mirrors they strategically placed around it. Although small, basically anything you grab is probably going to be delicous, most notably the fried chicken they keep bringing out! It’s hard to find good fried chicken, especially at a buffet so I was surprised that it was so fresh and delicious here. So good in fact, that I couldn’t stop eating it and basically ate a bunch of fried chicken and sides until I was full and ready for dessert. The dessert was ok, but I’m not really a big dessert guy… They have 2 soft serve ice cream machines with different flavors which is basically all I got. There is also a salad bar and multiple drink machines, including an icee machine, that are all self service. I love drinks and got so excited I think I had like 3 drinks and an icee during my meal. The service is also pretty top notch because our plates were being cleared soon after we pushed them aside. If you have a larger group though, I’d recommend grabbing separate adjacent tables because the booth we had made it difficult for everyone to get in and out.

Chuck-A-Rama, a family tradition. As an extreme pursuer of all things buffet, I must say that this one may be king of the hill. With a fiery long sword called«Cinnamon Honey Butter», this establishment cuts down all of its competitors. None can withstand the might of the buffet’s delicious food. Kids aged from 8 – 800 all line up for a slice of cake: carrot, rocky road, German chocolate, Love. Horchata, an orange Julius-esque drink, and whatever«rica-Jamaica» is, stand before you; soldiers ready to serve your taste palate on the proverbial b-ball court. The orange chicken, banana bread, and scones are to die for. Were I a samurai, I would commit seppuku were I to fail my shoguns. Only then could I regain my honor. No buffet is complete until you are so full that you wish only for the sweet release of death. Grant me this, Chuck-A-Rama. I beg. Lay me low on rocky road cake and ice cream. On scones and spicy chicken. Impale me on a skewer of carrot cake. The chicken nuggets are pretty okay.

I’ve been to a good number of comfort food establishments in my day. I know what’s good. You don’t. So allow me to serenade your eye balls with some home fried knowledge about the food game. Attention: 3 ½ stars and below folks: I will not entertain reviews below 4 stars on this piece. So take your delectable-home-made-jam-non-appreciating-selves to St. Elsewhere, because St. George has no time for your food ignorance. Ya dig? This isn’t your ‘Chuck-Wagon” or «Buckaroo Buffet»…(albeit, upon first glance, you may think twice about stopping in after a weekend at Brian Head). but I insist you do. Why? Imagine yourself for a moment, in a quite suburban neighborhood, somewhere in the middle of Utah. You decide to have a potluck. You invite Molly McButter and her 30 plus stay-at-home mom’s in your neighborhood and ask them to each bring their BEST dish. One by one, the show up with steaming hot tray’s fresh out of the oven. You slap a Chuck-a-Rama sign outside and charge 13 bucks at the door. Chuck-a-Rama, ya-mama. Take note: 1. Fried Chicken. I can’t even think of ONE single chain establishment to make fried chicken better than this place. And that’s just a little taste of whats on offer here, people. 2. Cinnamon pull-apart. So much love.(not even a dessert, son. You eat it with dinner. Dig?) 3. Home made jam. Not even the breakfast buffet at the Bellagio has the foresight to serve home made jam with your $ 50 breakfast. Respect. 4. Home made butter milk bizkits. Eat it with home made jam. Don’t be weak. 5. Dessert selection. Remember the cake walk at your elementary school? Imagine that on weed. 6. Don’t sleep on Chuck-A-Rama. It’s worth driving out to St. George just to come here for dinner. 7. I don’t even own the place, I just want people to recognize. 8. Sincerely, one happy regular.

Bottom line: FABULOUS. When traveling though St. George we were looking for something we could both agree on. Well who can’t agree on a Buffett. That said, we were a little skeptical, the building exterior could make you think hmmm, but don’t be fooled. The service was great, the food was excellent and it completely blew away my expectations of a Buffett. Golden Corral has nothing on this place. Hands down, the best Buffett place I have eaten at… period. Fabulous.

This is a great spot to stop at when you’re on your way to Cedar City, Brian Head, Zion, etc. I have taken several of my friends here and they are always impressed. The sign out front makes me think of a Sizzler type of establishment, but in actuality it is a very good buffet. There is a lovely salad bar, they usually have a carving station, dessert bar, ice cream bar, pastas, bakery, comfort foods. I am completely convinced that if you eat a large salad first, the fried chicken doesn’t count. Grin. Remember, you can just taste a little of everything, you don’t have to have a full serving and be uncomfortable later. The service is very attentive. I like the large windows so I can keep an eye on the doggie while we dine. We ate on Sunday afternoon coming back from Brian Head and it was $ 12.99 per person.
