Huge fan. Wish they had a winery you could taste at, but it is on the list at Taylor’s Automatic Refresher and on the shelves at the grocery in St. Helena. I also spotted it for $ 19 a bottle in Mill Valley at a wine shop. Don’t bother dropping by Raymond Winery looking for it either, since they will act like they aren’t affiliated… but they did call the winemaker for me!

Though I am a bit miffed that my first Unilocal review is not the very first review for this up and coming winery I have to pretty much echo what the first reviewer said, really great CA wines, well priced, a treat to find on any wine list, etc. They don’t have a tasting room that I know of but you can find them online at or try the Ferry Bldg wine store(and at Taylor’s Automatic Refresher in St. H and SF’s Ferry Bldg) or at K&L for some of their wines.

I love finding value priced, yet fantastic tasting wines. Ones that not everyone knows, but those who do feel especially lucky and when brought up in conversation, begin bobbing their heads excitedly in agreement. Ones that when you spot it on a wine list at a restaurant while out with friends, you suggest with an air of understated confidence, that yes, I would be happy to choose the wine this evening. This is exactly such a wine. From the unique label to the rich family history, to the absolute nirvana of the first quaff, Five will remain one of my all time favorites. They make 4 varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. All good. All reasonably priced. I suppose that it helps they are still in their infancy years and are building a reputation, but I guess that means I’ll just keep cellaring cases for later. Check them out if you get the chance — you’ll not be disappointed!
