I don’t care how good the food may be… if I have to walk 2.5 blocks to use a park bathroom because they provide NONE for paying customers… Won’t eat here again or any spot in St. Helena That makes you walk a distance for a restroom!

Don’t even think of trying this place! First off, they have NORESTROOMS! They sent me across the street to try another restaurant! When I returned, they have no ice tea. ??? What no ice? OK, how about a glass of water to have with our 2 meals? Oh, no glass of water? I had to buy an entire bottle rather than a simple glass of water. The food wasn’t all that good, but by then I had lost my appetite with this place. I definitely won’t be back. There’s too many good restaurants near here where I can get a nice lunch.

After our wine tasting, we went to Giugnis Deli, on Main St., in St. Helena, CA. Fun place! When you walk in there’s candy up & down the aisle,(to get all the kids attention!). Funky old fashion tin signs are tacked on the wall. But that’s not why we are here, OK? Let’s talk about sandwiches. You go to 1st person behind counter; that employee takes your meat +/or cheese order. Then you move on down the line, to the 2nd person behind counter; who crafts the rest of your deli delight. Lastly 3rd person will show up at cash register to take your money. They are very reasonably priced. $ 8.00 for 1 meat in 1 sandwich. Or pay $ 8.50 for 2 meats in 1 sandwich. We 2 gals split the 2 meat sandwich &1 bowl of decent chili. Check = $ 15.00

Came here before a round of wine tasting for the first time and the sandwich was AMAZING… BUT The line we had to wait in to order was a bit annoying. Great selection of Chips, drinks, sides, meats, etc. Get the sauce.

Giugni’s gets five out of five stars for the delicious sandwiches and friendly staff, but a star off for convenience. It’s cash only and the closest ATM is not far but not necessarily close. And if out-of-staters want to enjoy a beer, then bring your passport — they only accept California IDs. It’s now a must go for us in St. Helena. Everything we had there was good, and Giugni Juice is a must.

YUMMMMMMMM! I love a good sammie and boy does Giugni deliver! It’s a cute little store too with some vintage candies and good selection of chips, snacks & drinks.

What a great find on our way to Calistoga! I had the veggie sandwich on hard sourdough and my hubby had the turkey avocado on the same bread. Delicious! Great service and a cool old school atmosphere(been there since 1911). Would have liked a fountain drink or fresh brewed tea. Otherwise perfect!

The sandwiches are nice and big at Giugni’s. Fresh and yummy ingredients. The ladies and gentlemen who work there are friendly and helpful. You are definitely bound to run into a few PUC students no matter the time because this is the place they all go. The sandwiches run around $ 8-$ 10 depending on the added toppings but it’s worth the money. Make sure to add Giugni Juice to your sandwich(an awesome oil/spice sauce). You can also buy the G.J. for yourself if you’re feeling greedy. The only downside is that they only take cash.

My husband and I spent a weekend in wine country, and to atone for our drinking and decadent dinners, we decided to grab one quick, cheap lunch at this deli. I gather Giugni & Son is pretty beloved in St. Helena, and I could see myself eating here often if I worked or lived nearby. Our stop here was a good decision. The place was small and charming, an Italian grocery store with a deli counter and a space with some seating in back. There was a small crowd gathered to order sandwiches when we got there, a little before noon on a Saturday. Service was friendly and fast, and we had sandwiches in hand with Subway/Quizno’s speed. There didn’t seem to be any set sandwiches, just build your own with a ton of choices along the way – pick a meat or a meat and a cheese to start, then bread and toppings. I don’t do that well with so many choices, but managed to come up with something tasty. I got a half sandwich with soppressata and provolone on Dutch crunch, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, salt, pepper, mayo, and Giugni juice(all the included toppings except for sprouts), as well as some avocado and pepperoncini for a little extra. My husband just got prosciutto and mozzarella on wheat. Both the soppressata and prosciutto were delicious, and made me wish that Giugni made one of those piled-up meat sandwiches I love at Italian delis. I was a little worried that my soppressata wouldn’t provide enough meat, but thankfully it gave plenty of texture and flavor to anchor the sandwich. All the toppings were great, too. The only thing that didn’t work was the bread, on both of our sandwiches actually. Both breads were just kind of stale, surprising on the early end of what was probably a busy day for the place. Anyway, my sandwich was satisfying, though in retrospect, I should’ve gotten a whole instead of a half to prevent that 7PM hangover I got slapped with after a day of wine tasting. I liked Giugni’s, and have a feeling I’ll be defaulting here for easy lunches whenever I’m in wine country.

Great, great, great sandwiches. Lots of variety and add ons! Prices are decent and you can complete your meal easily as it is also a mini market with plenty of chips and drinks. Sooo. .. minus 1 star for cash only and no bathroom in place. Another one because, well, if they could get better fresher bread, that would make these sandwiches the best of the best.

Always happy when coming in to this cute Deli! Great staff. Defiantly a LOCALS favorite spot. I’m surprised I still haven’t written a review. A few things I’d like to point out to others before coming is… 1. CASHONLY! *(NAPACOUNTYCHECKS, excludes American Canyon I’m guessing from reading reviews)* 2. NOPUBLICRESTROOMINSIDE Get there early because the place gets busy &BREAD sells out. Dutch Crunch is my favorite or sweet roll! Everything is sliced to order hence why it takes a minute to get the line moving! But hey who doesn’t LOVE fresh cheese and meat. I love this place! ILLALWAYSBECOMINGBACK.

This place is a local gem! Don’t judge the food by the look of the building! I work in St. Helena, and feel blessed to be able to come here for lunch every once in a while! The sandwiches are fresh and tasty. I’m usually a turkey and provolone girl– but I switch it up every once in a while. Also love the meatloaf sandwich with provolone(warmed!). The Guini juice is fantastic– but messy! Add a few sprouts to your sandwich to get the full effect of the juice. A few cons: –They only accept cash– and I’m a card-carrying gal– so that prohibits me from going more. –They are packed during peak lunch time– I recommend go early! –If you go late– they will be out of breads, cheeses, and other key things– because they’re that good!

Located on the main drag in downtown St. Helena, Giugni & Son started out in 1911 as an Italian grocery and in the1970’s was still family owned when it was converted to a deli. The last Giugni owners sold it to a long time employee in 2002 and while no longer family owned it still resonates with pride of ownership and locals’ vibe. The walls seem almost literally papered, in a good way, with business cards, flyers and news articles. A small table and a couple of chairs are tucked by the front windows. We didn’t try one of their famous sandwiches; we were on the hunt for Wild California brand crackers made with grape seed flour.(They had them!) But we noted how good everything smelled inside, how sparkling clean was the deli case holding the sandwich fixings and deli salads and how friendly everyone was in asking if they could help us. This is a tiny place with narrow aisles(in part due to more candy bar displays that I can imagine they need) so be prepared to line up in them to wait on your take away during lunch hours or peak tourist times. Noting reviews that speak about less than patient service, I’ll note we were in during a slow week when crowds were few. We’re not sure this would be a destination stop for us given how awkward is parking and store layout, but if we were in downtown St. Helena and the timing was right to avoid the crowds, we’d go in again. THIS N THAT: PARKING: Is on street. You can plan on having difficulty finding parking in downtown St. Helena, so be prepared for that too. ACCESSIBILITY: The old entry double doors are narrow but both open. If you need both opened to get a wheelchair through, they’ll do that. But overall, this is not an easily accessible venue. For that reason, we choose Dean & DeLuca for take away most of the time. NEIGHBORS: Model Bakery and Acres home and garden store, both on the same side of the street with Giugni, are well worth a visit too.

Best sandwiches in Saint Helena. Start at the back, pick your meat and cheese. There is s wide selection, perhaps 20 choices of each! Then, advance to bread selection, then assembly where they have a good choice of fresh produce. I love the«Guini juice» dressing and horseradish…

While wine tasting we needed a break to get lunch at a casual 4pm. We saw Guigni and the doors were wide open, a nice big«Deli» sign so perfect — found parking and came in. The store looks pretty unimpressive, bordering on potentially unclean looking. The walls are covered in random signs and newspaper clippings, etc. Everything looks kinda old, old seating, but the food… The people working behind the counter are legit sandwich surgeons, precisely making your amazing sandwich with intense care. I ordered the vegetarian — came with cucumbers and avocado, lettuce, tomato onion and sprouts and chose pepperjack cheese. All the veggies looked super fresh. Unfortunately they were closing in 20−30mins so there was barely a selection of cheese left and they were kinda unapologetic. I stole the whole wheat! The store staple sauce made with lemon ving was amazing!!! Stop by during your time in Napa!

This was the place to get dealing food 30 years ago and still the go to place now. The make a great deli sandwich and still do. You can choose a half or a whole the portions are big. They have been making sandwiches since 1911. I had the the roast beef with everything on it. Including the guigni juice. Yum. Good food makes for good memories. We were lucky enough to introduce 10 new comers to the place too.

This place has some pretty good sandwiches. They have a nice selection and sometimes let you sample a meat or cheese if you’d like to. Sandwiches: I usually get the Santa Fe turkey with provolone on Dutch crunch bread(if it’s not out) and all the fixings except for sprouts. The Dutch crunch bread is the main reason why this place is given 3 stars. It’s a favorite at the place but they are almost always out of it even as early at 12 noon which is prime lunch our. They should really look into getting a better stock of this because there is nothing more disappointing than always having to sub out your favorite bread for something else. Atmosphere: The employees here are very nice and know how to make great sandwiches. They always make them pretty fast and with a smile. Seating: the place only has 2 tables by the window the rest are in some dimly lit back room which isn’t that nice to be honest. But hey, for a good sandwhich why not? Prices: considering the location the price is cheap. However anywhere else, and $ 8.00 sandwhich of that size would be considered and push.

I am drooling a bit even before I started writing this review. The perfect lunch-stop, the wine-palate cleanser, the meat-craving fixer, and a place for a big-o-sandwich. This small Deli doesn’t have a website, no credit card machine, and never disappoints. The word on the street of St. Helena will tell you that this is The sandwich place. Everything is made-to-order, you choose from a list of almost 30 types of meat, 9 kinds of bread and 20 types of cheeses, a near infinite possibilities. You start with generously hand-sliced meat Piled on your bread and cheese, top of with the everyday fixings, Include the yummy sprouts and soak the bad boy up with that Giugni juice(what this wizardry of deliciousness I don’t fully understand, but a blend of rosemary, red wine vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper, among other secrecies.) Your wallet will happily approve your Sub-$ 10 purchase versus anywhere else that’s going to cost you $ 20+. It’s lunch, it’s about saving the Ben Franks for a few bottles of Napa wines. Most importantly, you will be pleased that you’ve decided to spent some time waiting in line to please your stomach and help mop up a bit of the extra alcohol in you. Cheers, Edward

It’s great to come in here and grab a drink, chips and order your sandwich(in that order). Then go down the street to the park to leisurely eat and enjoy the sun. the best part about this place: You can get in and out for under $ 10. Pro-tip: the menu is by the deli case. Pro-tip: CASHONLY

Good sandwiches! If it was closer to where we lived, we’d probably eat here all the time :) Pros: –Love their bread. –Lots of options for a veggie sandwich. –Good sized sandwiches. –Line moves along pretty quickly, even if it’s a long line. –Lots of cheese options… yum :) –Lots of chip and drink and dessert options to go along with your sandwich. –Ingredients all seem fresh. –Just overall a really good sandwich! The Giugni Juice that they put on is delicious :) –Prices aren’t too bad, especially considering the area it’s in. –Staff is polite and efficient. Cons: –Hard to find parking. –Easy to pass by the shop without realizing it. In fact we have accidently done that. It really blends in with it’s surroundings. –CASHONLY. Yeah, I learned that the hard way… –No good seating if you want to eat there. Small, cramped space. Next time I’m there, I’m buying a bottle of Giugni Juice to take with me!
