I’ve been a patient of Dr Thuma for 10 years. Dr Thuma saved my life and anyone who says that he only saw them for 10 – 15 minutes is a liar. Dr Thuma’s bedside manner may seem a bit cold to those who seek coddling and sympathy but he is listening and taking notes when you first see him. Over time you realize that his recommendations are solely based on your telling him the truth about why you are there and what results you expect from his service. His treatments are based on his experience as an addiction specialist and if you don’t like what he offers you, then get a second opinion. I gave Dr Thuma 4 stars only for the fact that he takes on too many new patients coming from the treatment centers up-valley but it’s only because he wants to help as many people as he can. But that’s my humble opinion.

The worst decision I ever made was to allow myself to be treated by this man. He put me on drugs without my informed consent. I am now in drug rehab to get off the drugs he put me on. I wish there was a way to sue this doctor. He is very dangerous. I have not been able to work for over ten years because of him. Please be warned. Don’t go to Nathan Thuma M.D. for your care. My husband is also in rehab because of this man. I can’t express fully enough how this man has ruined my life.

I honestly do not know how anyone can write a good review about this doctor not only myself, but my brother went to him at the same time I was going to him and he had the same experience I had. I saw him for about a year before I had to go to a Drug Treatment program and two years later my brother went through a treatment program. Doctor. My brother and I had no history of drug abuse, but we both ended up in Drug Treatment facility. Doctor Thuma is a Drug addicts Dream come true ! He has a very arrogant way about him. Once he gets you hooked on the Drugs he prescribes you are at his mercy and treats you as so. Doctor Thuma is all about the Money and NOT about the best care of his patients. I don’t know how to put the hundreds of text messages I received from him over the course of a year on this review, but I will finds a way to do so and then you will all see that what I am saying is true. Please do NOT go to this doctor he is a HORRIBLE man. I am NOT writing this review out of revenge only for the safety of his patients and potential new patient. A former who’s life and Family have been significantly hurt by this Man…

I visited Dr. Thuma seeking help coping with some anxiety and insomnia issues I was experiencing. I didn’t have a recommendation for him, but he was one of the few psychiatrists covered by my health insurance and he was accepting new patients so I thought I would give him a try. Oh, how I wish I would have done some asking around first. In two visits(lasting maybe 10 to 15 minutes a session), he prescribed me 5 different powerful drugs. When I told him I have reason to suspect I may have a hereditary condition, he actually laughed at me. He said, no I don’t think that’s your problem. This is within five minutes of meeting him. Yet he immediately felt confident of knowing me and my state of mind well enough to prescribe very strong drugs? Against my better judgement, I went ahead and tried the first round of drugs. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience and it made things worse which sadly isn’t uncommon with these drugs. He wanted to then put me on even more powerful drugs. These are drugs one is supposed to take only for a few days to a week at maximum. He was prescribing them for long term use. When I confronted him about that, he said he had many clients that have been on these«short term» drugs for years under his guidance. That told me everything I needed to know. Since I don’t want to live a life under strong and potentially dangerous medication, I made that my last session. I have since shared my experience with other Dr’s and health professionals and their jaws dropped when they heard about what he prescribed and the duration he wanted to keep me on them. Needless to say, Dr. Thuma’s bedside manner is not one of listening to his patients, nor does he seek to establish trust and come up with a thorough plan to help you get better. If you are seeking out a Dr. to write a script for whatever drug you ask for, I suspect you will be thrilled with his service. If you are unlucky enough to find your way to his office in a state of stress, looking for real comprehensive help, then I am truly concerned for your safety. I have since found two other past patients of Dr. Thuma and their bad experiences were equally as shocking as mine. Don’t make the same mistake I did. I should have done my research and driven further to seek out better care or even paid out of pocket for a closer doctor. Since consulting with other professionals who listened to my original problems, I’m doing much better and without all the strong, dangerous drugs.
