Honestly the pizza is good, but i got turned off once I went to the establishment myself. The place is soooo dirty, the pizza on display looks like its been there for days! And then the guy who is handling the money is also just rubbing his UNWASHEDHANDS all over my slice and kneading dough. No thank you. At least try a little harder to be more sanitary

My family likes the pizza because of the texture of the crust. I could take it or leave it. I’m taking 2 stars away, however, since the workers and owner are extremely unfriendly. I’ve been coming here for about 15 years, and the owner makes me feel uncomfortable, since he always has a puss on his face, stares at everyone that walks in like they’re going to steal something, and makes me feel like he’s doing me a favor. His face looks like Rick Moranis with chronic hemorrhoids. The taller pizza maker never says hello, even though I’ve been in there hundreds of times. Pizza is good, service is obnoxious.

I wrote a review in 2013 and forgot to hit the stars! So here’s the update! I ordered Matts one night at random, as I had just moved here. It was the best! It had breadcrumb like bottom which added the crunch! I tried to find the pizza again searching by asking about crust, and got every kind but right kind! Then started reading the reviews, and found it by crust description! Having one in just a few minutes delivered! Best pizza ever!

My favorite pizza joint and always will be. I’ve never had anything comparable to Matts pizza.

Been coming here for 20 years, and I still love it. Nothing like sand paper pizza!; seriously, though, they bread the crust and it tastes great. Prices are on the high side, but manageable with Town Crier coupons.

I travel quite a bit with my work and eat in a variety of restaurants all over the country. Reading the other reviews I wonder if I was there on a bad night. Regardless, this was one of the worst places I have been. The pizza was simply laying out when we ordered. They popped it in the oven to heat it up. Also ordered a calzone type of thing. The food simply looked like it had been sitting there all day. I honestly believed the calzone I picked out was a display. I was amazed when it was popped in the oven. The young man working the registered didn’t seem to know what he was doing. I would never eat at this restaurant again. If we could have found something close, we would have moved on. I am amazed I didn’t get sick.

I frequented Matt’s Pizza when I was younger(they had locations in both St. James and Nesconset), and remember that it was great pizza. I live off of Long Island now, but decided to stop by during a recent trip to Long Island. The pizza wasn’t quite as good as I remembered, but it was still quite good and still has a lot of its classic taste. The crust is a little different than what you’d find at most places. The best way to describe it is that it has a rougher texture, but that’s what makes it unique.

We’re new to the area so we’ve been experimenting in our efforts to find our new pizza spot and Matt’s has definitely become a contender! Good pizzas with crispy, crunch crusts… yum…and fast delivery. Will definitely be ordering from Matt’s again.

I have been coming here for years, They used to have a few different locations but this one is always my favorite. Carlos makes an awesome Sicilian(my favorite) the Neapolitan is good as well but my preference is the Sicilian, I will often come back if there non available at the time. Crust is good, sauce and cheese are full bodied and balanced. The hero’s are also very good, my 2 favorites would be Eggplant Parm or sausage and peppers. Prices are good as well, seating is cramped and limited but take it to go and your set.

Best pizza in town. Too bad the one in Nesconset sold to someone and totally changed the great tasting pizza to a crappy one. Crumbs on the bottom of the pizza help make it taste amazing. Def worth the try

Matt’s has been doing the same thing for a long, long time. That is, making really good pizza. The crispy crust just works. They do a really good buffalo chicken pie too. And if you have the patience to clip coupons, the pennysaver seems to always have a $ 10 cheese pie coupon in there. I’m pretty sure if you don’t have any coupons it’s almost $ 15 bucks though! Matthew is right on about Grumpy Rick Moranis though, I’ve seen him at least 20 times and literally every time he looks like he’s having the worst day of his life. One suggestion is to always try to get a fresh pie — it seems like the slices out on the counter look like they’ve been there all day.

Everything about this pizza is perfection. Crispy amazing crust, tangy sauce, the cheesiest cheese. Simply perfect. Also very affordable. Look for the Pennysavers for $ 9.99 pizzas. The one and only draw back is the sometimes grouchiness of the owner. The one worker who primarily makes the pizza though, is so friendly, so it makes up for it. This is a Wednesday night tradition in our family and over the summer we do Matt’s Pizza Fridays at the beach. Great sandwiches and buffalo wings too.

Matt’s pizza is my favorite pizzeria in the neighborhood. It’s a little thicker than an ordinary crust, but whatever he puts on the bottom makes it. Breadcrumbs, perhaps? Only minor suggestion is to get out of the 70’s and buy new tables and chairs, you only have four. The service, rick moranis double, could be friendlier as well

Can’t beat the crust. It’s the best in the area. It really can’t be replicated, though I’ve seen places try. Aside from that, the pizza doesn’t stand out too much. The crust definitely makes it. I can’t say it’s my favorite pizza joint around here but it’s definitely one of a kind.
