This is a nice little building that’s fun to explore inside. Admission is free and there are several rooms that you can explore, including one large room in the back of the building that has numerous paintings. It’s an overall neat little place where you can spend an hour or so.

This place is gorgeous. The library is both functional and lovely, with the wooden shelves, decorative floors and ceilings, and spiral staircases. But, the gem here is the art collection! Very few places in Vermont have such an intimate setting in which to get up close and personal with works of art. It was like being in a mini Met! The librarians are so nice and very helpful. It’s donation based so a good activity for folks on a budget.

This place really is worth the trip if you are in the Northeast Kingdom. The very personable staff members can guide you through the major works of art, or else you can pick up a guide book and walk around on your own. An hour is more than enough time to enjoy the art. There’s a small but quality gift shop where you can buy prints of the art on display and authentic Vermont gifts. I bought a print of Girl Reading by George Lambdin. I’d never seen it before, and it’s now one of my favorite paintings.
