DONOTHIRE! A2Z Salvage and Junk Removal took $ 750 in cash from me to buy and hang Christmas lights on our home and they did not deliver anything. My attempts to get our money back has been unsuccessful. Do not hire this contractor. Update: After taking the time-consuming steps of suing him in small claims court, we were finally repaid one year later.

I called A2Z to perform a routine house clean-out and to deliver a donation to Goodwill. I was surprised to find out that this would be no problem.(I could have scheduled Goodwill to come out, but being able to handle it all in one stop made this arrangement convenient to me.) I informed them that we had between 3 and 5 cubic yards of trash to remove, but I was informed that they would quote the job when they arrived. That is where the positives end, and the negatives begin. They contacted my wife over the phone and asked about the job, she was originally quoted $ 750.00, but we settled on $ 500.(We were willing to pay $ 500 for a professional who had good references) A2Z arranged to be at the house between 11 and 11:30am, but we were contacted at 11:30am and were informed that they would be late. They arrived at 1:20PM, with a small trailer and a full pickup truck(from a job they decided to squeeze in). Because they were ill prepared, they were unable to complete the work as I had originally described, and had asked if they could leave the job incomplete. They were insulted by a partial payment based on their level of professionalism, and completeness. Their work was prioritized and we had to enlist additional help to complete the work. In addition we were promised we would receive a receipt on the day of the job, this was untrue. It has been a week since my last contact with A2Z(2 weeks since the job), where they once again said we would provide an emailed receipt. When asked why this had not been done, Keith said, «I’ve been busy.» Keith took the time to tell me that he thought he did a great job and that he felt insulted when he was offered less than expected. After this experience I took the time to investigate A2Z Salvage and Junk Removal. The state of Michigan has no record of them being a business of any sort, LLC, LLP, corporation, partnership, or other business entity. The address listed on the website seems to be a personal residence. But don’t take my word for it, search it yourself
If you need some junk removal completed and not just started, my advice is to contact a free service from craigslist. At least then when they decide to show up two hours late because they fit in another job, you won’t feel that you are over paying them.
