I was getting treatment at Barnes Jewish Hospital or a little thing called cancer this year. While I was stuck in the hospital I used to sneak out and walk down to the spot for lunch because the hospital food was killing me. Seriously awesome beef ribs and an awesome Burger. The bartenders are super friendly and the atmosphere is very relaxed. I’m a huge beef rib fan but I also did have their pulled pork which was delicious. You have a weird White barbecue sauce that you wouldn’t think would be good when you looked at it but it was addictingly delicious. They have a huge scotch and bourbon selection as well. Highly recommend this joint. This is probably blasphemy but I enjoyed the barbecue there more than the great powerful Pappy’s.

When you first walk in you smell amazing smoked meats. Behind the bar has more bottles of spirits than one could ever imagine keeping track of. They have a pretty decent happy hour(½ price apps, 4 dollar drafts, and cocktail specials). The candied bacon is pretty good. Ribs are so enjoyable that you feel like putting sauce on them is almost disrespectful. Garlic greens beans are seasoned perfectly. Bourbon baked beans complimented the meal. Every single person working here gives off the vibe that your business is appreciated and they make sure you are enjoying everything you have ordered which in this day and age is a rare thing to come by. I highly recommend paying this place a visit if you are looking for some good food, well made cocktails, and an amazing staff of employees.

Stopped in here for lunch. They don’t have a huge selection of lunchtime items, only 4 sandwiches and a couple salads. Some people may be willing to fork over 25 $ for a plate at lunch, but my pockets don’t go that deep. I went with pulled pork sandwich and mac and cheese on the side, girlfriend had pulled chicken with garlic green beans. I’d say the meat was solid, which if you mess up your meat at a bbq place, you won’t last long. I wasn’t sold on the mac and cheese. I’m not sure what type of cheese it was but I wasn’t really into it. My girlfriend said she liked the chicken and green beans more, so there’s that. I’m a big sauce guy and their selection is ok. The Stl style was probably the best. Not as thick or sweet as a lot of other«Stl style» sauces around but still good. The SR-71 is sweet with a nice sriracha kick. The place was ok, a little slow for lunchtime, but I enjoyed the outdoor seating, and the food was good enough. I’ll be back sometime.

We stopped here and tried the BBQ combo. Also had Mac and cheese, bourbon beans, and pulled pork. Although we really enjoyed the sides and the sauces, the meats were so over smoked they were nearly inedible, and they gave both of us a stomach ache afterwards. We really wanted to like this place since it’s near where we live, but I think we’ll have to find somewhere else for BBQ. The ribs were fine otherwise — although I think I’ve probably made better, more perfectly seasoned and cooked St. Louis style ribs at home — but beware of the smoke if that’s not something you enjoy. The whole room smelled like a campfire for a while afterwards, too. Food should not be that overpowering.

The first real BBQ place in the CWE. I love their food. I had placed a 2 go order & suprisenly it was ready in 5−10mins. My boo got the pork ribs & said they were great. As well as the bourbon beans, she said they were excellent. Green beans were awesome also. I had the pulled pork & it was perfect as I had hoped it would be. The cornbread was decent but tbh, no Jiff. My girl didn’t like the sauces really, I liked about 4 of them. All in all, go here if you want good bbq in the CWE.

Stopped in for lunch today — ordered the lunch special —(3 pork ribs, 2 beef, and a side of pulled pork) — Verdict — pulled pork could have been«fresher» — lil dry. Pork ribs were pretty good. Now the Bad — my beef ribs were so fatty, tough and gross and tasted like smoke, but not good smoke. Kinda Was a turn off and I didn’t finish my meal. I would never order beef ribs from their food distributors again. SR-71 sauce had too much soy sauce. Wanted to like this place… Maybe it was a Sunday thing… may have been an off day? $ 26 for sub par lunch and a makers mark… Not including tip. Lot of great whiskey, though!

Horrible service! In the 45 minutes we were there, the waiter checked on us once. I ran out of water and had to ask the busboy to refill my cup. The food arrived less than luke warm. They do not have a kids menu. We ordered a full rack of beef ribs, cornbread, beans and mac & cheese. Beans were ok. No comment on the other items. Save your money!

The service here is absolutely terrible. No one greets you when you walk in and you’re left wandering around until a staff member decides to talk to you. We waited over an hour for a table regardless of the fact I had called earlier in the day to make a reservation. The server took her time approaching the table for our drink order, and never came back after that. After 25 minutes, I asked a different server if we could place our food order and asked if she could help get our drinks to us. The drinks came sporadically, minutes apart from each other. The food was only OK;, not worth the terrible service we had to endure. Don’t waste your time at this place. It’s the worst in the Central West End.

Service was awful. They had enough staff but no one communicated. Waited 30 min had to ask to order. Had to ask about out drinks. The waitress didn’t keep track of who ordered what drink so she has to go to everyone and ask them what they ordered. Food was ehh nothing to write home about. Super dissapointed in the BBQ nachos they were literally chips cheese and pulled pork nothing else.

If you enjoy whiskey and want it to be a little cheaper than its neighbor down the road, come here. That being said, I do not like whiskey. However, they make a killer sangria. Seriously, that was delicious. You all should give that thing a try. My friend that I was with got lemonade and they loved it. Now onto the most important part, the food. The food was delicious. They had a rare delicacy the night that I went. Kangaroo meat. Yes, I did mean to type that. It was a kangaroo meat burger. It was cooked perfectly and had a sauce to add some flavor back in. The sauce was delicious. On top of all that, it was reasonably priced considering hundreds of other factors. Since I already had that, I opted not to use any of the barbecue sauces on my plate. I did however taste the St. Louis and Carolina sauces. Both were sweet and had enough of the kick that I like without being overly abundant. I wasn’t really impressed by any of the sides, so I ordered the green beans. Those exceeded my expectations. They were crunchy and flavored just right. I would so go and eat those again. They were that good. A couple of my friends got their mac n cheese side. One of them let me have a taste. It was good. It was homemade mac n cheese which is always a nice treat to have. Especially when your standards are often bag or box mac n cheese. Things that I would have to say against this place is while the kangaroo meat was a really yummy and I was happy to have it. The meat seemed a like it was pulverized a lot. I had one bite of kangaroo once before and it wasn’t as soft as this piece of meat. Even with this negative, I would order it again because let’s face it. I secretly always want to vacation down in Australia. The other negative that I have is that the menu wasn’t that big. I wish it was a little bigger mainly because it would give you more of a variety. It would also be able to highlight some of the different foods, like the kangaroo burger, that weren’t on the menu. Overall, I would love to come back. It was so good that I want to give this place another go again here real soon. 4 stars for the solid experience and for the great time.

I can’t wait to come back here for more! My husband and I came here for post dinner drinks and were wowed by their whiskey selection. Their menu lists flavor profiles to help you decide which one to try. And if you are unsure, their bartenders are incredibly helpful. The staff was witty and playful as well. Next time I want to try some of their BBQ and more whiskey!

My girlfriend and I dined at BBQ Saloon last week with another couple. We arrived at the BBQ Saloon without a reservation, and we were told that the wait would be 30 – 45 minutes before we would be seated. This was no problem at all as we were out to have a few drinks anyways, so we went across the street to ITap to have a drink while we waited. As soon as we ordered a round of drinks, I received a call from the BBQ Saloon telling us that our table was ready(5 minutes after we were told that it would be a 30 – 45 minute wait). I told them we had just ordered drinks across the street, and they told me that if we were not back in 5 minutes, our table would be given away. So, we left our drinks half finished at ITap and came over to claim our table. Once we were seated, we were created by a waitress to take our drink order. We never saw this woman again. The bartender took over waiting our table with no further notice. He gave us menus and gave us time to decide on our order. Everyone at our table attempted to order ribs. It was at this point that he told us they were out of ribs(you probably want to advertise this when you pass out the menus). So, we all ordered pulled pork. The pork was extremely dry. I left my food half uneaten, and I never do this. The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of one is because the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. The food and service was terrible. Will not eat here again.

My review is only based off drinks at this time because we were killing time waiting for our table at Taste Bar across the street. The owner was there, sitting right at the door. After we were seated at a bar table he came over, welcomed us and introduced us to his establishment, in particular his passion the whiskeys. The bar selection is enormous and very impressive. He asked us several questions to gage a recommendation for our drink order. He even informed me if I didn’t like my drink he would switch it out for my choice. The BF loved his whiskey and for myself he suggested an Old Fashion extra sweet made by Nate. I actually enjoyed my Old Fashion, never had one before would definitely order it again, only there though. I fear another place wouldn’t make it to my liking. The owner greeted us again good bye and thanked us for stopping in. What a wonderful experience. Now that’s a owner whom knows how to treat his customers!!! The restaurant is nice, rustic like a BBQ saloon should be. We enjoyed the music selection. The aroma of the place is amazing!!! They had the pit, fired up and going. Unfortunately at 7 something they were already sold out of ribs. If you know me, when I’m at one spot, waiting for another, because I’m there. I’m trying to try the food, to go that is. The BF and I have already scheduled our return visit.

If you are searching for great whiskey and good BBQ, look no further – BBQ Saloon is your place. The selection of whiskeys and bourbons is dizzying both before and after consumption. I’ve tried just about everything on the menu and recommend the pork ribs above other options. The turkey was also excellent. The beef ribs are a less common option at local BBQ joints, but they weren’t as flavorful or tender as the pork ribs. Most of the sides are above average. Anything that they smoke will be good. BBQ in the Lou has improved dramatically over the past 10 years, and the expectation level has been raised. BBQ Saloon is a respectable contender, but the niche here is clearly the whiskey selection. Great rustic vibe – stop in and try something new.

I will always miss the Majestic but this place helps me forget; bold statement I know. The dimly lit BBQ saloon that looks borderline closed lures you to its front doors with the marvelous smell from their smoker that’s sits at the corner of Euclid and Laclede. It’s dominates the intersection and beckons you to gaze upon its specter at the least, if not further investigate. BBQ has exploded locally, it’s like an arms race who can build the fastest in each neighborhood; a territorial land-grab in efforts to capture the market. However nothing was rushed in the BBQ Saloon, in fact right on time. You’re met immediately not by the hustle and bustle of a typical BBQ fast food restaurant, but an actual sit-down restaurant that takes cues from its widely successful CWE counterparts. Low lighting, a friendly host, and a quiet dining room. The menu offers starters ranging from candied bacon(recommended), Pork Crackl’ns, to even gluten free Cornbread of all things. I didn’t waste my time we went straight for the BBQ, since this IS the BBQ saloon. What suited us best was the Rib Combo, ½ rack of pork ribs, ½ rack of beef ribs, and a choice of third protein(pulled pork, turkey, or pulled chicken). This is also comes with two sides for $ 38, more than enough food for two people; and it was. The sides we had were Mac N’ cheese along with garlic green beans. Rare is the day you see beef ribs at any place in Saint louis, they had them and it was glorious. Honestly the beef ribs alone made the meal worth it, but the pork ribs were equally as delicious. The ribs were so good you don’t need any sauce. l, a hallmark of champion BBQ. I would highly recommend the SR-71 sauce as BBQ saloon sauces rival their excellent entrée offerings as well. This sauce in particular meshes the bold and spicy with hints of sweet aftertones that warm the pallet. Finally, they have a cornucopia of whiskey and scotch, you’ll spend a great deal of time sifting through the wide-ranging menu. I will back no question about it.

Was my first time in St. Louis, so I knew the ribs were a must. There was a big conference downtown, and most places were selling out of ribs. We called ahead here and they said their supply was fine. So we brought a big party do people and they sat us right away. The waitress was great and attentive. I ordered a full rack which was foolish, but I enjoyed every bite. The dry rub was recommended so that’s what I got. It was good, although not as good as traditional in my opinion. The sides were large and delicious, especially the potato salad. Our whole group tried the sauce on the table to go with our ribs and decided that it tasted a little bit like acid reflux which was a little disturbing. So we enjoyed them dry.

A pretty good addition to the CWE south Euclid area of bars. I’m pretty sure it’s the same owners as Wildflower across the street(though that could be wrong), and they have similarly quality food. There claim to fame, outside of their food, is they apparently have the largest available selection of whiskeys in STL. So that’s cool. However, for non-aficionados this can be a little overwhelming. The staff can be helpful though even with them it’s difficult for them to winnow down a preferred whiskey unless you’re extremely specific about what you’re wanting. It’s a welcome addition to the corner though as it’s much more laid back than the other cocktail bar in the area, Taste, and a little more lowkey than bars like Tom’s down the street. That being how it is, I enjoy ending the night at BBQ Saloon.

Love this place. Great atmosphere, friendly servers and bartenders, and HOLYRIBS! They are HUGE and amazing. Fall off the bone, great variety of flavored in the sauces. You can smell them for blocks around, having a BBQ place in the CWE is great but this place really impresses & fits it the CWE great. Unique specials(alligator ribs, and camel, oh my!) make us want to keep coming back. A drink for everyone, incredible menu, having the biggest whisky menu around is obvious, but their wine and beer lost don’t disappoint either. Atmosphere: Love the wide bar, the up cycled décor, comfy padded chairs. Great patio. Bathrooms are clean, even have a chair for this nursing mom. Definitely go, you won’t be disappointed!

Take this review in stride. Last night at the BBQ Saloon, I had my ah-ha moment. I finally realized that I don’t like smoked meat. I love food cooked on a grill with barbecue sauce but I still cannot get rid of that smoky taste in my mouth. Meat can pretty much stand on its own. That being said, Mike and I agreed that we would give it an additional half star if we could. John behind the bar took our drink orders and gave us menus. Margarita scored an A. I ordered the pork ribs with baked beans and Mac and cheese. Mike ordered the wedge salad and the pulled pork sandwich with beans and slaw. They have three different barbecue sauces plus a ‘bama white sauce. The white sauce was good although it didn’t seem to go well with the meat. It would be good to dip your French fries and green beans in. The ribs were good and tender but the smoke flavor overwhelmed them. The pulled pork sandwich was also good. Baked beans and slaw were tasty. I did not care for the Mac n cheese but then again I’m a Kraft macaroni and cheese person. Mike thought it was very good. He also loved the price-very reasonable. I’m not sure if I would go back again or not. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

This review calls for brevity(«The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do» –Thomas Jefferson). Like so many, I’d been waiting on this place to open, seems like the coming soon window-wrap has been there since 1986. When you wait that long for something to open expectations are high and those expectations on the food aspect of this place were so not met. The service was great! The bartender was amazing and accommodating and the gentleman servicing the guest were very respectful and not overzealous. For a place called the BBQ Saloon I’d expect more than two barbecue sauces(Carolina & St. Louis) and they were just okay. I had a turkey sandwich and the flavor was subtle(tastes like they are cooking for an older crowd — w/no salt or pepper). The coleslaw was different and added blueberries to the mix. The garnishes were extremely fresh but that cornbread is the worst. It tastes like hot water cornbread were no egg is used and water is the moisture component. This was the densest, driest piece of cornbread I’ve ever had in my natural born life. The owners of Wildflower own this as well so they aren’t new to the restaurant game. If they just wanted to open a bar they should’ve done that. Pappy’s is way too dang close for their initial showing to be like this. If I were stranded on this corner, BBQ Saloon would be the last place I picked to go eat(but I’d get a drink).
