I went in for an emissions test and failed because the check engine light was on. They didn’t give me any idea of what it would take to fix it, just gave me the error code and suggested that I call the dealer, even though I said it wasn’t under warranty. I called the dealer to confirm that it’s not covered. I took it to another shop who says that the fuse that powers the check engine light is missing. It had to be there when I took it to Big Bend because they were able to pull the code. I’m very disappointed and will never go back.

These guys are terrific — honest, funny. As a female, I never worried that I was being overcharged or that they did unnecessary repairs. We’ve left the area, but Mike & his crew are on my Christmas card list!

When I lived in St. Louis from 2000 – 2003, I stumbled upon Big Bend Auto because they were fairly close to my neighborhood and appeared to have received good reviews. Best car-​related decision ever. Their work was always quick and reasonably priced. The staff were always exceptionally friendly and treated me, as a young single woman, with respect (none of the condescending explanations or dismissals I have experienced with so many other mechanics). Today, some thirteen years later, I found myself visiting from out-​of-​town and noticed a concerning issue with my car. I called Big Bend on the off-​chance that they might at least look at the car to tell me if it was safe to drive the 200 miles back to my current home. Not only did they work my car in on a busy day with a full shop, but they looked at it immediately (knowing I was heading out of town), assessed the issue and provided me with a temporary fix that would allow me to return home as planned. Cost? $ 20. This is the kind of service that so rarely exists these days. They know I won’t likely be a return customer, and they surely could have made more money during the 30-​minute consultation they gave me working on the many cars they had in the shop, but they took genuine interest in me and went far above and beyond what I would expect any mechanics to do. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

My taillight got hit and I was referred here to get it fixed. I can’t comment on the pricing as I didn’t pay for it myself, but Mike (the owner) and his mechanics were all very courteous and professional. The part arrived, was installed exactly as anticipated, and is now working just fine. The smallish but busy shop has a great local, no-​nonsense, no-​frills vibe which makes the place seem quite trustworthy.

Excellent service at reasonable prices. These mechanics really know what they are doing and they explain things clearly.
