Finally we made the trip. Worth it. Only open 7 – 2 m-f. The waitress was great and full of restaurant history. Opened during the World’s Fair in 1904.
The Slinger was great.
Have to go back.

What more could you ask for? A diner whose interior has not changed since the 1960’s, a congenial owner, a happy wait staff (some of whom have worked here 30 years), great breakfasts, blue plate specials for lunch, in-house baked pies and pastries.
The eclectic mix of customers come from Bremen Bank next door and from the industries in the neighborhood.
Note that they open at 5:30 AM and close at 2:00 PM.
