We love checking out new and unique restaurants around town. This was easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the cocktails(strongbow on tap!!) to food(best burgers I’ve ever had!) Our server Stephen was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the food and drinks; along with providing the best service I’ve had in a long time! We will definitely be back for more!

We came here for brunch today and my excitement level wasn’t that great because had I been here for brunch before(awhile back) and was never excited about the menu. Well glory be, they have changed it. That made me excited. I picked the breakfast banger plate and J picked the cheese biscuits with gravy and added a side of bacon. His biscuits and gravy also came with roasted potatoes. I was lucky enough to get a bite and the biscuits were outstanding. I’m not sure what the gravy tasted like because he had eaten that already. My banger plate was outstanding. Sausage, fried egg and johnny cakes. Everything was delicious and the johnny cakes were the star of the show. If you don’t want to get one of their plates, you can always order off the side menu. Would I come back here? Yes, oh yes.

In town for a quick business trip, and decided to check this place out. Walked in and was immediately seated. Had my order taken, and went with the suggested meal. Open faced smoked turkey sandwich on homemade bread, smothered with a thick Gouda gravy. Delicious!

We had never been here before, but since they were open on Memorial Day we decided to try. And boy we were not disappointed! So good. My boyfriend had fish & chips, he’s pretty picky when it comes to this, and he loved it. They had some bbq specials for today and I got the bbq pulled pork sandwich, yummy! We will definitely be back when we are in the CWE. You must get their homemade chips, they are fantastic.

Really cool pub! The menu is very original and has some eccentric classics. I had the«black and blue.» It was brisket with blue cheese sauce, chipotle slaw and toasted Texas toast. It was really good! The blue cheese sauce kind of overpowered the whole meal. It was good but too much cheese. My dad had the flash fried cauliflower and if was pretty good. It was seasoned with paprika and that was really the only flavor. It was good but not too flavorful. Really nice restaurant but I don’t think I’ll be rushing to come back.

Loved the onion dip, bbq blue cheese sauce, chips and the Porchetta«Louie» sandwich. The pretzel was also to die for. I also had a bite of the Pastrami special sandwich and loved it. We will definitely be going back soon!

Service was really lacking. I saw this place on TV and made a note of it. Well, we found ourselves in town and my husband loves Porchetta sandwiches, so we went. Sadly, not great. Admittedly I was hot and not in a great mood once we arrived, but I made a reservation and we were committed to going there. We were seated in the bar area and the service from the bartender was really poor. I know, he’s the bartender and was slammed, but then he should have been given some help. I ordered one drink and didn’t care for it. We shared the potato chip appetizer and got the rarebit to go with it. This was my favorite item there. The rarebit was tangy and the chips nice and crunchy, I had the grilled cheese and my husband had the Porchetta Louie. My sandwich was good and cheesy and tasty. My husband enjoyed his sandwich, but the service was so poor. Neither the food runner nor the bartender ever came back to check on us. I wanted something else to drink, but was never offered anything. The place was not busy on a Saturday night(at least in the bar area) so I should have been skeptical? Had I liked my drink or even had the opportunity to order another one I would have had a much better experience.

We had a terrific evening here! My three friends and I split four meals. In order of deliciousness they were the Dressel’s Burger, Truffled Grilled Cheese, some sort of pork and rice special, and the House Banger Plate. Oh! And the Deviled Eggs were fantastic! Server was so helpful as were the other staff members who helped us move tables when our party of four grew to six. I can’t wait to go back!

Started here for my most recent birthday. Great pub atmosphere, warm and inviting. I had the truffled grilled cheese served with tomato bisque. I feel the prices could be better, a little high compared to similar places in the area. Limited menu with unique choices and ingredients. Fun cocktails and good beer selection.

Came here for a friend’s birthday dinner. Cool place. Cozy space. We ate upstairs. The cocktails all have fun names. I ordered a Handsome Stranger. It was clear-my-sinuses strong. I ate Dressel’s pretzels with rarebit and it was pretty good. Hope to be back soon. Next time I think I’ll order the truffled grilled cheese.

Unpretentious but modern, this CWE staple maintains its old-world Welsh charm in an increasingly posh neighborhood. It’s hard not to like this place, true to its Roots of the old country. you step in the door and you’re immediately transported if only for a second, seemingly to a different landscape. Decorated throughout the walls of the main bar and dining area are photos of the great writers and poets of our time, intertwined you’ll find Welsh sayings that I struggle to translate. It has a certain level of authenticity to it as you glance about main floor, never been to this region of the world but I imagine this what I’d expect. The bar is absolutely laced with whiskey, scotch, and other libations that are indelibly on homage to that region. This particular day was brunch where you’re allowed to order a la carte or you can try their spin on breakfast ranging from Eggs Benedict, bangers and mash, corned beef and cured salmon, and even a slinger. Seeing as I eat slingers all the time, the server was able to sell me on the newly added eggs Benedict with freshly handmade English muffins to boot. Next time she won’t need to sell me on it, the dish was unbelievably good. I’ve never been a fan of English muffins till I had them here, so fresh with a savory chipotle sauce that left me yearning for more. Packed with ham and perfectly cooked egg, each bite supersedes the previous in taste. Yearning for more eventhough I was full after scarfing down the healthy side of potatoes. My lady had the salmon and corned beef, though it was a tad bit salty(salmon) she equally devoured this rich and flavorful dish. Dressels has long progressed from a restaurant known for chef salads to a full on culinary delight. It may no longer be the best kept secret anymore, but it’s one of the best restaurants in the CWE; I look forward to return for dinner or hell even brunch again.

We went at a weird time(between lunch and dinner) and also we had our little one with us and this is not a restaurant for a 9 year old but she nevertheless enjoyed it. The place is very cute and has that Irish feel. This could easily be a very cool date venue. We ate from the lunch menu. Their homemade french fries are humongous and really, really good. We also got a meat and cheese table which was pretty great. Husband got the onion soup. Presentation was awesome. I got a kale salad as well. Precious. Their choices of beer are great and if you are a beer lover this is definitely a place to go.

Arrived hungry, left hungry. We ordered brunch today. I ordered the Banger Meal and he ordered the Pork Belly Poutine. They tasted great, but the portions were very small. I guess Dressel’s is kind of like going out for sushi– you should eat beforehand.

I had heard good things about Dessel’s so I was surprised to find the food less than expected and the service quite poor. The waiter/bartender was seemingly always too busy to spend any time at our table. Our food and drinks were delivered to our table as if we waiting at the window of a short order kitchen. We tried their two highest recommended dinner items, the black and blue brisket, and bacon wrapped meatloaf. We also ordered the fried chicken livers as an app. While my father thoroughly enjoyed his meatloaf, I found my brisket to be overly salty, much like the livers. Over all I was unimpressed.

Such a great meal! I loved the grilled cheese. Such delicious flavor. And the all that glitters drink was 5 stars. The flavor was layered and complex but did not mask the bourbon. So good. My husband has the steak sandwich which I thought needed more sauce. House chips were good. The side salad is literally mixed greens tossed in vinaigrette and nothing more so that was disappointing. Really good bread pudding too. We went when if was pretty Busy, especially on the outdoor patio but the service and wait time did not suffer.

In from Chicago, once for late night munchies and another for mid afternoon lunch. Hours I was there were off-times …maybe 4 or 5 other patrons. Nice dark cozy bar to belly up to. Both times got the Porchetta Louie — dripping with flavor. Peppers perfect bright note against velvety au jus pork and cheese. Perfect. My mouth is watering now as I plan my next drive to STL. Perfect stop before or after visiting Urban Chestnut

Dressels was the first restaurant I went to when I moved to St Louis. I had a great experience. The service was amazing, and the food was unbelievable. It quickly became my favorite restaurant in St Louis. After so many great experiences, lately, I hate to say it, but Dressels is slipping. My fiancé and I ordered some of our favorite menu items: the mussels, French onion soup, truffled grilled cheese, and the fish and chips. The mussels were good, but not cleaned very well. I kept getting bits of sand in my teeth. The French onion soup was okay, but not up to its usual standard. The soup itself was bland. I had to add salt to it for the first time ever. The bread wasn’t crispy at all. It was all a soggy mass. The truffled grilled cheese/tomato bisque was pretty great. The fish was oily, but had good flavor. The service wasn’t the best. We had the bartender as our server, which was fine. It just meant we were ignored a bit. The biggest issue he had was that he kept taking plates before we were done with them. We’d have a few chips left and he’d take the plate. We had an extra bowl for the shells of the mussels. He took the bowl before we’d finished the mussels. That, as a former waitress, drives me nuts. Ask before you take. I hate giving Dressels 3 stars, but that’s what the experience was. Hopefully things get better next time.

Went to a company holiday party at Dressels held in the second level and was quite impressed. Great bartender, service food and atmosphere. They went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating to whatever we needed. Also a very good craft beer selection on tap from local breweries. Definitely recommend this place for their food, drinks and their event room.

8 of us came here on Saturday night and I think everyone had a great time. I remember seeing Dressel’s on an episode of «Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives» so I figured it was time for me to check it out. Our server was attentive, our food and drinks came out within a reasonable amount of time, none of our orders were messed up, and our server correctly split our checks(I am always impressed when it’s done correctly the first time around). For dinner, I ordered the Poutine and the Acorn Squash Gratin(very good). I also ordered«A Prayer for Pancho»(Mescal cocktail) and a cocktail with champagne that I can’t remember the name of. We stayed from 6:30pm-10pm and I would recommend this place if you’re looking for really good pub food and drinks.

First time patron, but I will be back. Got seated next to the fireplace on the coldest night of the year! Service was a bit slow, but friendly. I had a great hot chocolate that tasted as though it was made from scratch(not powder packets). I ordered the«Chicken and Slicks»; sort of a funky, unappetizing name for chicken and noodles. Excellent! The noodles had more of a dumpling texture but were cooked al dente. Lots of chunks of moist chicken simmered with celery and carrots in a very flavorful broth. My guy ordered the fish and chips: a huge piece of haddock perfectly battered and fried, served with homemade potato chips, slices of sweet pickle and tartar sauce. All very tasty. Can’t wait til the weather warms up so we can try more offerings on the sidewalk patio!

Very cool, old-school pub with above average food, drinks and very friendly service. While not spectacular, it’s a great traditional pub with a neighborhood feel. Our service was very fast and friendly. Down-home style food with a good selection of beers and unique specialty drinks.

When another table’s tab was charged to my card I called to discuss the situation and received a gruff and unapologetic response. On another visit my dining companion literally burned her finger on the bowl of the soup special. She kindly explained what happened to a seemingly uncaring server. He did say that he should have mentioned that the bowl was hot, but so hot as to leave a blister on a finger seems unacceptable, especially for the price of the food.

We came on a Wednesday afternoon and it was slow, so we got a lot of attention from the staff. The flavors are amazing. The lamb burger and the porchetta louie both have a combination of ingredients that yield a striking taste. They push the envelope on flavor, but don’t take it too far. It’s just right. I have not been here more than once, and not at a busy time, but we had a great experience and look forward to another visit.

Truffle. Grilled. Cheese. UGH. Food like this is the reason I have to workout every damn day. It was so good. The side of tomato soup was also the perfect addition to this meal. I dream about this sandwich. The fried green tomatoes were also absolutely amazing. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I felt like I was having dinner at an old friends house whose mom was this amazing old lady who made the best home cooked meals.

Several years ago we tried to get in to Dressel’s for lunch with some friends, but Guy Fieri’s red Camero was blocking the way. So we ate elsewhere, not being chosen as tame diners for the show. We finally made it back, this time with our dining partners, the D’s. The recent blurb regarding Dressel’s fish’n’ chips caught Ms D’s eye and Ms T is always up for that. I must say that Dressel’s menu is not the typical pub food normally found in St Louis. Of course it has similarities but appears a little more creative. For example there is only one burger on the menu, plus a lamb version, where normally you would see at least a half dozen. We started with fried chicken livers and the deep fried pickled green tomatoes. It was all OK. The livers had more coating than needed and were a little strong, but they are at the mercy of the livers they get. They did not overcook them. The habanero aioli turned out to be just sour cream for some reason. If you like tart, the fried pickled tomatoes are for you. I found them harsh in the extreme. These were on the rotating menu. I might order the livers again if I had someone to share them with. Everyone except me ordered the fish and chips. I had to be different and ordered the Banger Plate. Everyone seemed to like the fish. It was full fillets of very good quality haddock and they are to be commended for that, instead of the usual chunks of mystery fish. I found it to be what fish and chips often is; heavily battered which makes it pretty greasy with the batter wet and gooey inside. I would prefer if they just dredged it in flour. It had little if any salt in the batter and none on the outside. The fish would have been a better choice than the banger. The best thing about the banger plate was the fried egg. The sausage was heavily seasoned with garlic and was not cooked completely leaving the rare center gooey and mushy. It was unpleasant. It was served on some leathery(buckwheat?) pancakes. For all of the accolades, I came away feeling that perhaps we did not order the best things at Dressel’s. There was nothing that we had that made me want to go back right away or take anyone there. I’m sure a burger would be good and although the menu is small there are certainly other things. I just made a bad choice on the banger and was not wowed by the fish. Three stars is generous for this meal. As if we needed more proof that DDD is a guarantee of a 50% chance of being better than average, here is another one.

UPDATE: After writing this review, and being told by the restaurant staff that we would be called by the manager(which never happened), a man named John S pleasantly private messaged me about my review. He called me names and offered to spit in my food. He is clearly associated with the restaurant in some form. I would suggest steering clear of such a hostile establishment where instead of fixing things they only show how low they truly are. – If I could give this place zero stars I would. Chris is a class A loser. He was super rude ignored our request for cream and sugar. He was pissed he had to make a coffee. He never came to check on us. I asked if he could make any drinks I wanted and he said no and walked away. While this doesn’t sound awful in person he essentially ignored us. We racked up a huge tab in drinks and when we said only put the shots on our friends tab so we could pay the rest he ignored us and shared the friend the whole tab and then walked away never to be seen again. This behavior is unacceptable and the manager seemed to be «understanding» but he didn’t comp us or do anything to make it right. Our friend was forced to pay the whole tab because he never came back. Chris should be fired(good or bad day. A server should not be this disrespectful. The manager blamed it on the server being there for ten hours. We are four doctors and we spend many days working 12 hours. This is not a valid excuse. Don’t plan on ever returning. Chris is lucky our friend paid for the whole tab and tipped him because he’s too nice of a guy. If it were us we wouldn’t have tipped let alone pay for the sh it service.

Lunch today at Dressel’s Public House. A beautiful day to sit in their outdoor patio. We were greeted promptly and given our drinks and after looking over the menu, put our order in. They did have a few lunch specials for today. I decided on the Shrimp Po Boy and Mike wanted the Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup. His dish was once featured on Guy Fiery’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Grilled Texas Toast with different cheeses. The best way to eat it is by dipping your sandwich into the soup. It is yummy. My Po Boy was good also and I chose the side of black beans to go with it. Lots of shrimp with pickled onions and a roumalade sauce on the bread. The beans came out mashed. I think I would have liked them whole. Nothing to write home about-the beans were beans. The roumalade sauce was just the right amount of spicy. Part of me wishes they would change their menu and put some new items on it, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. All in all, it was a good lunch and of course we will come back.

Flew out to Taint Lewis to rendezvu with the love of my life who was out there on bizness, and found this place on Unilocal. I really don’t like giving 5 stars, but I couldn’t help myself here. The food was absolutely tremendous. We shared rib tips as an appetizer, and some amazing burger for the entrée. One of the best burgers I have ever had. Well seasoned, great meat flavors, just wow. I had a beer flight of local beers, so that was fun. The beer list was EXTENSIVE too. My date had a couple mixed drinks and liked them. Prices were great too.

Well-executed and deliciously crafted food. I have tried a trout dish and a pork 2-ways dish. Both exceeded my expectations, given it is pub. The actual space is really nice — cosy and dark with a lot of exposed brick. Perfect place for day drinking on the weekend. Plan to be back next time I am in the mood for new American.

If you’re in the mood for a drink that will deliciously kick you on your ass and you don’t want sweet watered down mixed drinks– get the Manhattan. Woweee! We both got the burger with chips, and I honestly have had very few burgers that compared to this one. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, and the brioche bun is perfect! I was incredibly pleased and impressed. We ordered the bread pudding– pretty good! They use a brioche burger bun for the bread portion of this dessert. I have had one better bread pudding– but it was still deliciously prepared. I am definitely going back– getting another burger! The service was swift and pleasant — the street sidewalk urban outdoor seating is a favorite of mine! Perfect little late spring date night spot. Parking can be tough, however!

Had an impromptu date night with my wife. Thanks to my mother in-law and niece for watching my son. Saw this place on diners drive ins and dives so I definitely wanted to try it. They weren’t to busy for a Saturday night. We were seated right away. It was a very clean restaurant. I like there selection of beers. I ordered a north coast scrimshaw pilsner. It was a pretty good pilsner. The waiter got my wife to order a Oberon ale. After a few drinks she said I could finish her beer and she ordered a bud light. We ordered the Dressel’s pretzel. The pretzel good and the rarebit dipping sauce was great just not enough rarebit for the pretzel. I ordered the lamb taco duo which was a special for the night. The taco’s had good flavors. But the portion size for me was a little small. My wife ordered the Dressel’s burger medium well. It came out medium. She gave me half of her burger. It’s was okay. The bun was charred a little not a great taste. The onion jam had no to flavor to it. The burger by itself was great. The chips that came with the burger were greasy. Asked my wife if she wanted dessert and she said no. I’m always down to try something different. I probably won’t be back.

I came here for a private dinner party, so this is mainly a review of the food and the event space: Food was delicious. During our cocktail hour we snacked on some of the most delicious soft pretzels and homemade cheese sauce I’ve ever had. For dinner I had the cornmeal encrusted trout. YUM. I would order this again in a heartbeat. Well portioned and delicious. The event space was nice and a fun spot for a casual dinner party for a large group. I would definitely plan a dinner here again if an opportunity presents itself. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. I’ll be back for normal dinner service soon!

Finally tried Dressel’s! I absolutely love it and cannot wait to come back. The pub is so cute and feels very authentic. I tried the Pretzel with rarebit, and the Porchetta ‘Louie’ sandwich with the side of their house made chips. All incredible. The Porchetta is so moist and flavorful. And covered in bitter greens and ooey gooey cheese and you get a couple peppers in every bite. It’s a perfect sandwich, I wouldn’t change a thing about it. And it’s huge. The side of house made chips are really good too! The pretzel is a must get. It’s actually much larger than what I thought it would be. I split it with 1 other person, but it could easily be split with 3 people and I would be very satisfied. The rarebit, or melted cheese, is so addictive. Drinkable really. All in all I can’t wait to come back. The entire menu looks tasty. Looking forward to trying the fish and chips, the poutine, and so much more…
