Extra Space Storage

This place is the cleanest storage facility I’ve ever seen. Waleed is a really great manager. I feel pretty safe going in here.

This review is for the Forest Park facility.
I signed up for $ 58 monthly in November 2013 and they have since increased my rate progressively to $ 61, $ 64, and currently $ 74 all within a 12 month span. I think there policy is bait and switch based and to increase the rate until the customer moves out.
I spoke to the manager and he said that I signed and agreed to rate increases in the contract however during signing they also assured me that they would not increase rates so go figure. There support number 18 887 867 243 offers no assistance as they are more concerned with signing up unaware customers by offering «deals».
Some storage facilities use questionable techniques like increasing rates if occupancy is at say 97%. To them, this is ok but as a customer, I guess how would you feel if your rent for the next month suddenly went up because occupancy rate got to 97%? Technically if the occupancy rate is at 97%, they don’t care if 7% leave in exchange for say another 7% that will be enrolled at a higher rate. The inconvenience is to you the customer. Moving is easy and fun right? Otherwise avoid extra space altogether

Beware of teaser rates. Rates rise often and by a large percentage. Rent only if you are certain you can be out in 12 weeks.

Anyone that has been privy to the Wheel o’ Unilocal or any Unilocal table at a recent event knows that I have a LOT of schwag to lug around. Shot glasses, paper fans, tote bags and pounds of Unilocalstick. Oh, the Unilocalstick…
In order to save my relationship (and my sanity!), I rented a storage space a few months back. It’s been a lifesaver for sure! However, there are a few issues that I have to let others know about Extra Space if they are considering putting their things into storage here:
— There is only 1 elevator at the Forest Park facility. This means only one person at a time can go up to their space (and there are 4 floors worth of units). So if you get there while someone is loading/​unloading, you have to wait for that person to finish before you can go up to your unit.
— NEVER go here on a Saturday past 10 am or near the end of the month. That’s when everyone moves and this place is crawling with people putting their stuff in/​getting their stuff out of storage.
I make trips here weekly so have learned through trial and error how to work around these little problems. But it can be annoying if you just need to pick up a quick load and end up waiting here for an hour, so consider this your «heads up»
