Mark H is right — the wine selection here is decent AND reasonable! And from what I can tell, it’s the only place you can get a bottle of wine for a 8 – 10 block radius! Picked up a bottle of Pinot Noir here the other day for $ 8. And it wasn’t too bad! They also sell a variety of «tall boys» and pints, if that’s your sort of thing! Pimp Juice was on sale not too long ago. Does anyone know what that is? I don’t… and I didn’t want to stick around to find out :)

Globe drug is an odd place. The biggest irony about this place is that if you actually need drug store items ie: toothpaste, deodorant, aspirin, it is behind a counter and not easy to access .You have to get a clerk to get these things for you. Thisstore has all sorts of wacky stuff. Giant stuffed animals, old clock radios, dish towels, perfume gift packs, expired potato chips. But you can find useful stuff. Some of my finds include… Industrial strength D energizer batteries(I put these in my big mag light) These are kept behind the counter. Some cheap dish towels, a wall clock, the game«scrabble, and some general purpose cleaner. One time a guy tried to sell me weed out here in the store, but I declined. This store is worth a look.

I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve made great use of Globe Drugs. From moderately priced wine(some are _really_good when available), to almost anything you might need(say, a squeegee for windows), you’ll probably be able to find it at globe. You may want to avoid the 4:30 — 5:3040oz rush, but part of being deeply urban. They are always helpful, and if you ever need to know what wine specials are hiding around, ask Sandy(I got a couple of bottles of 2002 Dead Arm that was sooooo good, I’d have paid 5 times the price). This is a family owned and run St. Louis original that I’m glad to see keeps kickin’.
