This is more like a 4.5– not just 4. We had a wonderful lunch and perfect service today. This is my third time having lunch at the Good Luck Bar. Today, as every time before, the food was great and the service exceptional. I would like to suggest the Chili Salad. Like their chili, the salad comes in a variety of chicken-vegetarian-beef and can be regular or spicy. I opted for the spicy beef. We also had wings. Wings can be generic and at many places they all taste the same. Not at the Good Luck Bar– they actually tasted like I would make them at home. They were cooked properly and the buffalo taste was tangy without being so hot I am asking for water. Lisa, the bartender, was friendly without being saccharine sweet. Patrick the owner comes out and introduces himself to customers(which says a lot for a restaurant/bar). Today’s service and food was so good I have brought a different group of friends here for drinks and appetizers just a few hours later. Keep up the great work Patrick and please; thank Lisa for us.

Ordered takeout the other night and got the appetizer sampler and two cheeseburgers. All of the appetizers were thrown into one container(wings, potato wedges, onion rings). The buffalo sauce from the wings was all over everything else in the container, the potato skins were burned and very hard and the onion rings were basically just slices of onion without any breading. The burgers were completely plain and we were not given any dipping sauces. We also ordered two cups of chili which was just a bunch of sauce; no beans, hamburger, etc. I was so excited when I got home and totally grossed out when I opened up the containers. I’ve been here multiple times, however, I most likely will not be going back.

Dog friendly, patio was nice, and the service was good! Far away from the main part of soulard but that’s a good thing! Definitely nicer than the bigger bars

This is the second time I’ve been to the Good Luck bar and the second time I’ve been disappointed. The service is unbelievabley slow and the drink menu extremely limited for a Soulard bar. Today when I went in I waited at least10 minutes to order a drink at the bar and left after not only did the bartender but the owner never asked for my order or told me they’d be with me. I get that it was a busy weekend for them but they were no where as slammed as other bars and it’s an impression that will make me not go back.

It’s hard for me to decide if this place is really worth a 3 star review, but since the service was good I’ll go with it. The bf and I arrived on a Friday night(soon after they opened) to try out a new spot in our hood. We had heard good reviews and bad reviews so we wanted to try it out for ourselves. When we arrived it was a nice night out so we decided to sit on the patio. This is a «seat yourself» kind of place, so we did. We found an empty table in the corner of the patio and sat down. the patio was busy when we arrive with almost all tables taken and I am pretty sure that was a party going on as well. There was only 1 server out of the patio and I could tell she was«in the weeds». She did have help running out food, but she was slammed with drink orders and other requests. After a few minutes of sitting down she came by to take our drink orders. She apologized for the delay and assured us that she would be back soon. We appreciated that. We each ordered a beer and some water. We also ordered the cheese sticks(homemade). The beers came out and we just enjoyed the evening waiting for out appetizer. It took about 10 minutes for the cheese sticks to come out, but that was fine… they were worth the wait. The cheese sticks were made with assorted cheese so each one had a different taste; excellent choice. When our appetizer was delivered our server took our food order and offered to bring out another round for us while we waited. She came by to check on us a few times as we were waiting and she kept telling us that the kitchen was backed up and that our food would just be a few minutes longer… no biggie… I was okay enjoying the patio and drinks. After about 25 minutes our food came out. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the bf ordered a burger. His meal was good and he said it was cooked just right; however, mine was not edible. The chicken was dry and the breading for the chicken was burned and not crispy at all. I was not impressed. I did not want to be a bother so I didn’t return the meal and instead just ate the fries and drank my beer. I knew the restaurant was new and they were still probably working out the details. Our server came over to check on us again and I did tell her about the chicken so that she could at least give some feedback to the kitchen; let’s hope this helped. She brought us our check and wished us well. The meal was just«meh» but she did a good job as the server and I was impressed by the way she handled a full patio. I will probably go back to drink at the bar and maybe… just maybe I will order a food item. The location is pretty nice and I think they have a lot to work with on the patio; I can’t wait to see what it will look like in the springtime.

This is a great addition to the soulard nation. The food is very cheap and the drinks are cold. They do have a patio which is nice when you want to bring your dog. The bar tender and owner was very nice and would help with any questions you would have. If you want a neighborhood bar without the drunk people on Russell give this bar a shot

We were in Soulard and this was one of the spots on our list of places to check out. This is a smallish corner bar with a patio. They also serve food. We really loved the look of the place… nice and clean everywhere(bathrooms too) and everyone was friendly and greeted us right away. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks. I had our bartender(Katie) make me a Blood and Sand and it was really good! I also ordered the garlic mashed potatoes which were pretty good as well. I will update this review once we get a chance to actually order a meal here next time.

Nice job redoing the location into a new place. Social Distortion on the stereo is a good sign.

Great new neighborhood bar in the old Lagniappe’s /Tip Top space in Soulard. Very nice updates: casual bar with tin ceilings, jukebox. new bar, floor, fixtures, patio, TV’s. Bar food/sandwiches/burgers/salads/soups, and weekend weekend breakfast served. Most items under $ 7. Very clean!

This place just opened. It is promising but not perfect. We had fries, onion rings, vegetarian chili, and a black bean burger, plus drinks. The fries were pretty typical. The onion rings were excellent. They had a thin, crispy coating and a dusting of cheese. The chili was good, it’s a little different. Might have cinnamon or nutmeg in it? Served with cheese and raw onion. The black bean burger was good, but not amazing. Pros — homemade. Cons — not as flavorful as it could be and the bun was obviously store bought and kind of squished. The service wasn’t great but since they just opened I’m willing to give the waitress a pass. It seems like they are still working out some issues, but they have the potential to be a really good restaurant. Prices were reasonable — it’s cute that all the prices end in the number 7(I assume for good luck). The ambiance is nice. They have hardwood floors, a lovely copper ceiling, and several TVs. Music is audible but not too loud.
