Without some of the prior reviews I never would have eaten here. From the street, it’s just another slot in a strip mall box. The inside is not any better, at best it’s a bit grundy? to me. However, the service was very friendly and chips, salsa and water were brought out right away. I ordered a steak torta and a shrimp burrito and both had very good flavor. The burrito had a nice grilled flavor and had huge shrimp. The torta was as expected, fluffy bread and a good balance of ingredients. I would definitely go here again.

Stopped in for dinner last night; here on business and wanted an authentic experience. What I got was wonderful. Service was knowledgable and helpful, the food was fresh and delicious, the favors were consistent and tasty. The only reason they did not get 5 is because they don’t serve beer.

Delicious menu with wonderful toppings. Super tasty! Breakfast burrito is so good. I live out of the way but my hands cant control themselves. I just start driving there when I wake up for more. Its like crack wrapped in a tortilla. Sorry I should have snapped a pic before I got my fix.

Best burritos in STL! Friendly warning: these things are addictive and may well result in an exponential expansion of appetite and waistline. Try the mixed burrito with carne asada and chicken. Also, do yourself a favor and get an extra serving of their hot salsa because it’s mouth wateringly delicious and is the perfect accompaniment to their burritos. Wash it all down with one of their wide selection of Jarritos fruit sodas and you’ve just had an awesome, local, family business supporting lunch for under $ 10, served to you in under 10 minutes, and you’re off to crush the rest of your day! What more do you want?!

After honeymoon in Mexico in 2014 and living a few years in Texas, I’ve been on the hunt for decently-authentic, high quality Mexican restaurants in this area. I would consider King Burrito one of them. Located in a strip mall a couple doors down from a Mexican grocer, it is higher quality and better-tasting than the typical Americanized Mexican restaurant chains. It’s pretty small with a take-out feel with 5 booths and bar stools at a couple counters to eat at or wait for take-out orders. They have a couple TVs and music in Spanish playing, but it’s not overly loud. You can order take-out from the big menus at the counter or get eat-in menus with a waitress serving. We chose to eat there, and the menu was much more extensive than I expected. In addition to the usual tacos, burritos, fajitas, etc, they had Mexican sandwiches, burgers, entrees, and a kids menu. My husband, who is not usually a fan of Mexican food(at least not the typical Midwest-style chains), even found something he liked and even very much enjoyed: chicken with vegetables including mushrooms. I ordered shrimp fajitas, which came with 8 jumbo shrimp(I had to remove the tails myself, but no big deal). Both came with a small salad, rice, and beans. Rice was a little on the cold side, tortillas were nice and hot, and the other food was warm. Our Spanish-only-speaking waitress brought us out 3 foils of tortillas one by one, so my husband used them with his meal as well. Refills on our fountain soda, water, and chips were prompt(and free). They also have Mexican Coke in glass bottles, and other soda/drinks in glass bottles and cans. We had to wait a little bit to get our entrees and to get our bill processed, but only because they were quite busy in relation to their size around 6PM on a Friday, mostly take-out orders. We’ll definitely be back again, and I’m eager to try something else. They don’t have sopapillas(which I love) on the menu, but they do have several dessert options I was too full to try. We took a good portion of our food to go, so the price was good for how many meals we got out of it.

Every meal is always compared to a standard. The stardard has been set and King Burrito is the name. I have been coming to this place when it was origianlly Donut Brothers. The menu was limited to breakfast items and some tacos. The menu has been expanded and glory to god in the highest that it has been. Being a foodie expert if you will, i judge the food based on three things. I eat with my eyes first. If it looks like a great meal, walks like a great meal 9 out of 10 times it will be a great meal. The smell of of great food needs no explaining. Aromatics can bring memories good or bad but with great food it always begins with a grin that shines into a smile. Last but certainly not least, taste. The most important component of all. King Burrito excels in all three depts. I havent even began to discuss service. That’s just a cigar in the brandy room or a that cigarette after sex but to me its the small piece of chocolate at the bottom of the waffle cone when your done. The picture enclosed is a Breafast Burritto that i ordered back a couple weeks ago. Please check my facebook pages allan newcomer for last review. Today i ordered the 3 hard shell tacos. Doing something simple can be difficult as we all know. The normal hardshell tacos that I would compare these to are simple understated and I will not name names here BUT King Burrito outshines the simplicity with a flair for presentation and taste. The shell is just the perfect crunch. The shell has a that has two layers but one shell. Like a double shell which helps the taco holds it form after first bite. Not like your home made one that breaks apart in your hand. I ordered the Camarones Soup(shrimp) it looks like 15 count shrimp(those that cook know what size that is) more less just a tadd underJUMBO. There were about a. 10 to 12 pieces ina fairly large bowl. Potatoes were proper consistency with a side of cilantro onions and jalapenos and tortillas. Just ordered the flan and the mango juice. Yes i am out of my mind eating but this is what i do.

As soon as I walked in and read the menu and without tasting anything, I was already thinking what I’m going try the next time. I ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo, ham, and bacon. It was delicious! The red sauce it came with was super spicy but good. Authentic, friendly service, will definetely be back!

Finally stopped in for lunch today. They’ve been serving Mexican food here since it was Donut Brothers. I think the ownership is the same, but the donuts are gone. There is some kind of artist involved with this operation, I think. At least a very talented sign painter. I also noticed their logo is painted on the booths. My lunch was good. Maybe not as good as a couple of other local Mexican haunts, but as I checked out some of the other food coming out, I do believe I’ll come back for a second try. I have a feeling my rating will improve. I got two tostadas, one steak and one chicken. This is not on the menu, which offers 3 tostadas, either steak or chicken. The girl taking the order didn’t blink with the custom order, or that I ordered them without beans(«They pile them on» she said). The quality of these tostadas was very good, except the shell was a little stale. A couple more disappointments; they promised if I sat down, they’d bring chips and salsa, but it didn’t happen. They only offered the chicken and steak, which lags waaaay behind the competition. Maybe there is more available, but those choices are not on the menu. I had to ask for utensils, and — minor quibble — they have just one kind of salsa, not two or three like their competitors. So, yeah, a bit of a disappointment. Still, it’s a nice little place and BIG kudos for offering a Mexican breakfast(with chilaquiles, yeah!!). I’ll be back and you’ll hear about it.

Really good quality Mexican food! I got a chorizo taco and a lengua taco. Both were delicious. Husband got the pamboza. Wow! It is the size of your head and so good. Our daughter had a chicken taco and devoured it. Their tortillas are one of the best we’ve had in the city. To drink we got the horchata and it did not disappoint.

I went here earlier this evening to eat after seeing the reviews on Unilocal… I’ve really never noticed this place maybe because the sign is burned out or turned off… I’m very picky about steak… I usually don’t order it from Mexican restaurants because it’s always tough… Well its not tough here! I was super impressed with the quality and quantity of food… I ordered four tacos two chicken and two steak and I was only able to eat two of them… My friend ordered the ginormous chicken burrito and was only able to eat half of it… I hope this place is here to stay because there are very few decent restaurants in the area… Now that I know the steak is tender I can’t wait to try some of their other items… The only thing that struck me as odd was when you walk in it feels like a carryout restaurant even though there are a few booths and tables but after we placed our order at the counter she asked us if it was for here or to go we told her it was for here so then when we sat down with our foam cups to our surprise she had her daughter bring us chips and salsa… The green salsa is pretty spicy the red is also but not as much… btw… They have a huge specialty section on the board above the register but it was not on their takeout menu and none of the items had an explanation of what they were

Really surprised by this little place. Got the pambozo sandwich. Really good with chorizo. Next time I’ll try the enchiladas. Good prices and real small. I will definately go back.

You have suffered long enough. «Breakfast Tacos or Breakfast Burritos» at a fast food joint have been your first meal for way too long. It is time for you to discover that what you have been eating is not worth the names they are given. Treat yourself to one of these delicious items and then forget the name of the place or the location. Start taking a few of these to work every morning and treating your coworkers, or better, your boss to one. If you don’t get the promotion you will have new friends for life. Tacos with chorizo are my favorite with the green sauce. Life is Bueno!

HIDDENGEM like WHOA. AMAZING freaking food, like amazing. Love the guys working, love the tiny, cozy interior. Love, love, love, love. A fellow Unilocaler recommended the breakfast burritos here and OMG I could freaking kiss her for it. THISPLACEIS awesome. It used to be a donut shop run by the same people, but this year they changed the name from Donut Brothers and focused on their other food options(which they have always had). SMARTMOVE.( ) What a waste if these guys focused their talents on donuts. Their house salsa is as good as I heard it would be. Mouth watering.

I love trying little independent Mexican restaurants, so I was excited when I heard about King Burrito. Located in a nondescript strip mall with a small Mexican grocer a few doors down, it’s the kind of place that only the locals seem to know about. The extensive menu includes the standards such as tacos, sopes, tortas, and burritos, but I came for one thing, the pambazo. A pambazo is very similar to a torta sandwich, but the bread is dipped into a red pepper sauce. King Burrito’s version came with chorizo, fried potatoes, lettuce and sour cream in a huge torta soaked in red sauce and grilled to toasty perfection. It’s a messy sandwich, so be prepared to get your hands dirty or use a fork and knife. This Mexican sandwich is a rare find in St. Louis, but KB’s version was better than the one I’ve tried on Cherokee Street. Although it was a little skimpy on the meat, it was packed with flavor. The house hot sauce, served in a squeeze bottle, added a nice spicy kick to the sandwich. I also sampled a few bites of the special of the day, costillas en salsa verde(pork ribs), served in a green sauce with a side of rice, beans and corn tortillas. It was good and came close to the home cooked version I’ve had, however it is something I’d only have on occasion. The huge menu board also listed breakfast items such as pancakes, waffles and omelette. Hot foods included wings and burgers. I found it a bit odd that taco and burrito options only included chicken or steak, but I guess they tend to keep it simple. Another unusual item for St. Louis is the huevos divorciados which is eggs with half red, half green sauce. I’ll probably go for that with chilaquiles on my next visit. Overall, I enjoyed my visit here. It’s a simple setup where you order at the counter and then sit down to wait for your food.
