Great ownership, complimentary chips and spicy salsa, all wrapped into a conveniently located restaurant in Lafayette Square. I was glad to see this place come back after Arcelia’s closed a few years ago, I must say it’s much improved. For $ 30 we left stuffed to the point of near comatose, it’s hard not to gorge yourself when the food is this good. Like most Mexican restaurants you’re greeted with chips and salsa, the only difference is their salsa is red hot! And I mean they even warn you about it and offer to supply a milder version just in case. The menu isn’t really that large but they cover the basics, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, flautas, and quesadillas; generally what you expect and not exceeding $ 10. You really can’t go wrong but I’d recommend the enchilada with beans and rice, it’s the called the trio 3. The margs are just ok, just your run-of-the-mill special that they offer in a «blue» style as well. Overall we were delighted with our meal and we could barely finish our plates, I sheepishly snagged some chips on the way out the door. One thing: I saw about four or five cartons of eggs sitting on the bar just completely in the open for the duration of our stay, they were just sitting there; weird. Other than that I’ll definitely be back.

I think Laredos is a 3.5 on average, but I have to round down today. I just found out that they charge an extra fee for takeout food. Why would I pay extra to not use a table and not get the additional service. I always tip on takeout. I assume that some don’t. To make matters worse, the fee is only one dollar. Is that one dollar worth turning off customers? Either way, the food is decent, but I probably won’t go back when I need takeout, based on principal.

Beautiful, warm, welcoming restaurant! As we walked in with our four year old, I was worried when I saw the beautiful tables cloths and cloth napkins, but we were greeted with a friendly smile and our son welcomed in with crayons and a children’s menu. Our waitress gave us the option of having our son’s meal brought out as soon as it was ready. Our food was wonderful, the waitress attentive, and the ambiance peaceful and serene. We were there past the usual dinner hour during the week, so it wasn’t busy, but I very much got the feeling that our experience would’ve been just as pleasant if we’d been there during their busy times. My only, only complaint is that sour cream and guacamole aren’t included with the entrees — they cost extra($.60 for sour cream and $ 3.99 for guac). This is the only Mexican restaurant I have ever been to that doesn’t include at least sour cream with their entrees. That one small change would’ve bumped this review up to 5 stars.

Wow! This is not your neighborhood Mexican restaurant– the food and service were excellent! The owner Pat is too sweet and kind– she waited on us and made sure we were happy and satisfied– I had the chorizo huevos and my husband had the chicken chimichanga– both excellent!

The worst service I have ever experienced — 3 tables I the entire place(8 customers) took over 30 minutes to get 2 drinks. It was insane ! No one could be bothered.

This restaurant was a nice find in Lafayette Square. We came here on a Sunday night and were pleasantly greeted by a very friendly staff. The waitress/hostess was really attentive and checked in on us a few times, giving us her recommendations on what to order and engaging with us. The food itself was good, being from Texas I try hard not to compare the Mexican food here to the TX Mexican food… that being said, I think I have had tastier Mexican food in STL. I enjoyed my shrimp fajitas though, just thought I didn’t get quite that much food with the meal. I’d come back here for their margaritas, they had a good looking cadillac margarita that my friend had and I’d be down for that any day! :)

Mediocre at best. My husband ordered the torta and it looked like a Subway sandwich, cheese not even melted! I had the chicken fajitas and seemed they were like frozen sliced bits that didn’t come to the table sizzling. Service was nice but s l o w and the place wasn’t busy. Not a memorable meal… probably not going back.

Came in for a late lunch, chips and salsa were great if you like spicy salsa. The food was excellent, perfect portions and decent prices. My only complaint would be the margaritas, they tasted pretty good but for their sake I hope they just forgot the alcohol, because they were incredibly weak.

Solid consistent food that reminds me of growing up on the border. The hostess(and owner?) is lovely, engaging and playful. We also enjoy their male server who I believe is named Gil? He’s always on top of it. As for the food, everything I’ve tried there has been delicious. I love their rice and beans, and usually settle with either shrimp fajitas or a shrimp quesadilla. Tip: Be sure to specify if you want mild, medium or hot salsa! Their salsa is a simple, tasty red blended salsa which is very tasty.

A very quiet, comfortable location with really good food. The menu is limited in a positive way, so that the meals they do offer are top quality. This is where we go for a meal vs. tacos. They have a few different salsas with the chips, and all are tasty. They don’t bring it automatically, but ask for the salsa verde. Great flavor and heat. I usually get the chili verde, and end up taking some home. Great portions. The service has been great every time.

I think the location of this place is better than the food, but still, I was not disappointed. It’s basic Mexican fare and the ingredients are fresh. I would go here again just to sit out in the front and drink margaritas and eat chips and salsa on a warm summer evening.

Our waitress was super friendly and attentive and handled our ever growing number of attendees gracefully. The margaritas are delicious! Where this place falls apart for me is the food is just a-okay. It’s nothing to write home about but if you’re wanting tex mex style food and you don’t want anything overly flavorful then you’ve found your place! Also, the beer selection kind of sucks. It’s basically cheap domestics and mexican lagers.

I always eat here whenever I go to Lafayette Square for a walk around to view beautiful authentic Victorian houses. The fish tacos are so good. I also like chicken tacos with fried corn tortillas. The wait staff has been very friendly and laid back.

I wish I took pictures of my meals before I dig in because the portion size of the fajitas was re damn diculous. the flavor was there on the rice and literal teaspoon of guac. the shrimp was tasty. all 4 of them. the portion was bull for the price plain and simple. rather empty for lunch time. servers were awesome though in terms of attention. save your money and go down to cherokee

I love Cherokee Street and all but when I need a good blackened fish taco, I head to Lafayette Square. Finding this place came on one of those days when I was house hunting way past 6 and I still had a long drive back to the county. Alas, the house in the neighborhood wasn’t meant to be but it brought me together with my favorite fish taco place so I’ll always have fond memories. I’m sure there’s other delicious food on the menu. I’ve enjoyed some soup, beans, and rice with my fish tacos and good chips and salsa and a nice margarita too. My husband raves about their super burrito but a little part of me thinks that’s just because he feels like an Avenger when he eats it.

We love eating at Laredo’s. It’s like a well kept secret. Though there’s times when it’s mostly full, the wait is nonexistent and the staff is always friendly. The food is phenomenal. It’s one of the few joints o can get pollo en mole and it is by far the best one. All the food is great. My boyfriend and I fancy ourselves as salsa aficionados and theirs is a top pick. It’s not chunky and it’s quite spicy. That brings me to their house margarita. It’s so good you don’t NEED to upgrade.

Loredo’s has become a near weekly staple in my family’s dinner routine. We live in walking distance of this authentic Mexican restaurant and love stopping up here either during the week or for a fun weekend evening dinner. The staff is lovely — always super welcoming, whether it’s Gil or Pat. Check out the braised pork — it’s rare to find this on a local Mexican restaurant’s menu and it’s fantastic. I recommend the braised pork enchiladas and a side of their cheese dip or guacamole. The also have live music most Friday evenings! This isn’t one of those Mexican restaurants that serves portions the size of your head — and thank god for that! I can’t stand Mexican restaurants that cater to a crowd that wants to eat more food than they can handle and cares less about food quality. Trust me, worth a stop!

Laredo on Lafayette Square is a casual Mexican restaurant located in Lafayette Square, on the corner of Park Ave & Mississippi. There are several tables outside, and the inside is actually larger than it looks with seating that goes into the back. The atmosphere is very casual, nothing overly fancy just good food at a fair price. This is definitely a family business and it shows, the owner, Pat, and her staff here are great and really care about their customers satisfaction. As far as the food goes you can tell it was prepared fresh, for my first visit I went with the Empanadas, which were very tasty and incredibly flaky. On my second visit I went with a burrito, which was huge and just as delicious. Overall this is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and if you are looking for Mexican I recommend giving Laredo a try.

Lunch at Loredo’s the other day was absolutely delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed the fish tacos, which had wonderful flavors, and the tacos had plump beautiful pieces of succulent fish! I’ve had these a number of times and they’ve always been wonderfully yummy! They are beautifully presented and for a side, either the taco soup or the delicious salad with avocado, are wonderful accompaniments! The staff is attentive and warm, and any request is quickly accommodated… I’ve also had the chicken mole, and other dishes, and all were beautifully presented, very fresh, and delicious! It is a very comfortable setting; very clean and bright… They even have breakfast dishes that are wonderful. Their guacamole is also very good, and they have two kinds of sauces: spicy and very hot(green). I would definitely recommend this restaurant for it’s fresh and delicious food, great staff, and service! It is also a great restaurant for large groups!

Very good and very personal service, the food is really good too. We told them we were vegetarians and they went out of their way to make sure our order would be ok for us. Had the veggie Quesadilla and it was great, the mix of vegetables was refreshingly delicious. The chips were excellent. The salsa was very good. Nothing was overly spicy but it was all fresh and presented well. The margaritas were very good as well. We used to go to Arcelia’s when it was in this space(and at its original location near Broadway). Laredo’s has a different style but is just as good.
