I have passed this place a thousand times, but never had a reason to go in. Well now I had a reason. My sister in law said that my little niece will be walking soon and a good Christmas present would be a pair of shoes. I thought a gift card would be best because moms always know best as to what there kid needs. This place was great, catering to kids. A wall full of cute hair ties for girls. A back room for kids and lots and lots of socks. Why the 3 stars, well first let me say the girl that greeted me was nice and showed me to the counter where the lady that was manning it was lets just say a little distracted. The girl from the front door repeatedly tried to get her to pay attention to me but the lady just wanted to keep talking to other employees. When she finally started to help me I asked for a gift card and she took my license. She rang me up, but still was talking to another employee. Now remember how I said she took my licenses, well she wrote my name down wrong. My name is Mary not May anyone paying attention would have gotten in right. All in all, I would go back I just was confused as to why she would not stop her conversation for 5 minutes to check me out.

Came in with my parents since my dad needed special diabetic shoes. The outstandingly pushy saleswoman would not leave each one of us alone until we EACH left with a new pair of shoes. I put her off twice but she more or less ignored me and kept insisting, and I ended up paying $ 120 for a pair of ill-fitting(the saleswoman assured me they were«supposed to» fit that way) no-slip shoes for work that hurt my feet so badly I only wore them once. She also threw my old, comfortable shoes away. Thanks a lot. Will not visit again with such demanding salespeople and such uncomfortable shoes — that you can’t return if there’s so much as a hint of your ever having worn them, by the way.

Called the store today looking to buy a pair of Hunter boots for $ 158. Asked the male associate of they were in stock so I could head over to buy, he told me I need the style number or else he’d have no idea. Really? Then he hung up without saying good-bye and I went online to look for the style number so this associate would actually help me spend money in their store. Called back after not finding the style number and spoke with Erica. Explained why I was calling, and she placed me on a long hold to «find out who you spoke to earlier». Why? Do you have the boots or not? Hung up while on hold… this local business will not be getting my money. Ever.

I just realized my last two reviews or Laurie’s are written on the same day two years apart. Well, it is time again for new work shoes and I’m earlier. I guess I have been working harder, so my shoes need to be replaced. As stated in previous update, no fun shoes at my employment. They’ve to be black, lace-up and a no skid sole. Having wide feet, it is hard for me to buy this type of shoe at outlet and discount stores. Trust me I have tried and to be honest, the prices are not that much different. Here at Laurie’s I get excellent customer service from an experienced shoe expert. Who makes sure I am slipping my massive food into the correct size. No wonder my feet have hurt in the past, I was wearing the wrong size. Laurie’s also has some very fashionable Cole Hann and Dexter loafers that I wear when I am not working. Also, if you have children, I highly recommend Laurie’s. They have a huge variety of cute little shoes. I have watched them work their magic on getting the tots to calm down and slip their tiny feet into new shoes. Remember, shop local and keep our hometown stores in business.

Unless we’re talking running shoes, I don’t tend to spend a lot on my own shoes but I’ve seen first-hand the difference in how a $ 50 pair of Striderites vs a $ 20 pair of Target shoes hold up for my kids so their everyday shoes come from here. Besides, I’ve discovered that I royally suck at figuring out their sizes. This year, we braved tax-free weekend — mostly because time got away from me and I realized my kids needed new shoes like now. I would not do that again by choice. Shockingly, we didn’t even have to take a number. An available sales person was at the door and got with us immediately. They also had someone stationed at the door to direct traffic and to hand out the cookies upon exit. Our sales guy asked some basic questions(Velcro vs. laces, are light-up shoes ok) and brought out a few pairs per kid. I love the whole slide thing to keep them entertained. This place was pure madness because it was crazy weekend but everyone was really nice and I know that my kids are set for the next year(save a massive growth spurt) instead of my buying multiple pairs of shoes at Target.

You cannot beat the personal attention and great customer service to buy children’s shoes at this store. The kids look forward to coming, and I appreciate the small touches like a cookie and balloon with purchase. Worth the extra money to get the right shoes for your growing kiddos.

I used to be a Laurie’s Shoes devotee, but no longer. It started with the special order of two pair of Naots, which turned out to be one pair because the ditz helping me failed to order the second pair… but wait, looks like she failed to order any of the shoes. A month after I placed my order, I called the store to find out where the heck the shoes were, only to be a) put on hold for a loooong time, b) be promised a return call in an hour(it came 5 hours later), and c) a promise from the manager when I called back that they would get to the bottom of it. Two calls and days later I find out the shoes are being sent today, I swear. They arrive a week later, I schlepp out to the store, wait a half hour for the dingaling who had placed the order busy helping another customer during one of their trunk shows, only for them to be THEWRONGSIZE. So I order a different pair of shoes, they come, I buy them. And I’m done with Laurie’s. Each time I called the store I was put on hold for a very long time. The manager failed to follow up with me(even after I told him I am a longtime customer who tells everyone to shop at Laurie’s). Their customer service has gone way downhill. I can order these shoes anywhere. And I will.

I was the kid who had to be dragged kicking and screaming into a shoe store when I needed new shoes. I HATED shoes. They were uncomfortable and restrictive. Fast forward to 2010: I’m still not a shoe girl, preferring to wear the same couple pairs all the time. I admit to having bought more than one pair of the same shoe because I liked them so much. But my luck just ran out! I have had about 3 pairs of the same model of Dansko shoes for the last 5 years. I wish I had bought more! But they are worn out. So when I heard that there was a trunk show event for Dansko brand shoes at Laurie’s, I had to go, if for nothing else than to ask the rep where I could get another pair of my fave shoes(out of production now :() Being a teacher, I HAVE to have comfy shoes. I walk around and stand all day long. Danskos are the best! When I got to the trunk show event, there were a bunch of different varieties of Dansko shoes to try. Laurie’s uses a ticket system to help you. You get a number and the salespeople call you when it’s your turn. This gives you time to look around and then be helped. The salespeople are very friendly and helpful and devote all their time to you when it’s your turn, unlike other shoe places(ahem, Macy’s). When it was my turn, the sales guy brought me a couple pairs to try while opining that a certain pair were«cute.» I agreed. I bought said pair. And another. Down $ 240. OUCH! But they are so comfy, they are worth it. Expect to pay a lot for any shoes you buy here, but expect that they are worth it. Bonus — they carry lots of sizes(small, narrow, huge, wides). My bf, who has huge feet, can get shoes here. I got a super comfy pair of hiking shoes here in wides and they were one of the best investments I ever made! Huge kids selection too. More bonuses: save your receipt and get 5% off your next purchase! Order a pair in another color or size that they don’t have and have no obligation to buy it if you don’t like it when it comes in! Friendly service! And no, the rep didn’t have any quick fix to get me my favorite model of out of stock shoes. But that’s ok, because I am moving on!
