China Yu at Mackenzie Point closed down, and I was without an Americanized-Chinese food restaurant. I am super picky about meat and am often disappointed in our St. Louis Chinese/Vietnamese food choices. If you are looking for Chinese takeout, New China does this well. The crab rangoon are slightly sweet with a lighter crispness than many other Chinese places in STL. I ordered Orange Chicken, and you could actually taste the orange. This is not a given, my friend. My daughter got sweet and sour chicken, and the sauce came in a separate container. She enjoyed it, and most importantly, the chicken was white breast meat(I specifically asked for it on the orange chicken), and it was really good. Both dishes were batter-fried chicken, so I wouldn’t recommend our picks if you only have a few calories left in your daily limit. I did see healthier options on the menu though. I am definitely going back to New China. I have hit a few duds, since China Yu closed, but New China may indeed be my new pick for the olé standby Chinese takeout.

I’ve been here more times than I can count. Their beef Lo mein is my favorite. Great crab rangoons. Fast and friendly! I usually order on my way to pick it up and it’s ready by the time I get there 8 minutes later.

Very good! I’ve tried other local places and this place is the best. Food is very good, fresh, and the staff is so nice. Interior is plain but very clean(unlike a local competitor). Love the crab Rangoon!!! Great pork friend rice. In fact, all the dishes I have had there have been fantastic. Only one I did not like was the Wonton soup. It’s got a strong beef taste, which it should not have. I will always go here for my once a week Chinese food treat.(love Chinese food!)

The pot stickers were extra doughy. Not appetizing at all. The beef and broccolli was supposed to be extra spicy and actually tasted rather bland. This was a first time last time at the location. The staff were very nice during the ordering process. The store appeared clean. It took 30 minutes to get my rather small order on a Tuesday night. $ 16 for an appetizer and entrée. I won’t bash the place, but I won’t return either.

Not too far from the house & this is our go to spot. The family is ALWAYSNICE&FRIENDLY when we come in and the menu never fails! The crab rangoon is PERFECT with just a slightly sweet taste which we love! I got a plain St. Paul, vegetable lo mein, general Tso’s chicken(my son’s favorite), and plain egg Foo young! I LOVE their to-go containers too! I usually get almost anything on the menu that does NOT have meat in it and I have NEVER been disappointed! Oh yeah, VERY, VERY, VERY, VERYCLEAN& fast service!

Great little Chinese place. I absolutely love the steamed dumplings. Plus probably the best crab Rangoon in the city. The hot and spicy beef is exactly that! The place is kept immaculately clean. The only reason not to give it a fourth star is they have only one size of fountain drink. Small. And they seem a little pricey. But definitely worth the time to stop in.

I’m from New York where the Chinese food is outstanding, with that being said I’ve searched far and wide to replicate my experience with Chinese food from NY. New china has ended my search, their food is excellent. The pork fried rice is on point! My go to dish is the boneless spare ribs, and man this place cooks umm up just the way I like it! Don’t hesitate to check this spot out.

Disappointed. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to trying New China. Unfortunately the food was not good at all. Neither my wife or I liked anything we ordered. We had the szechuan chicken, sweet and sour chicken, egg roles, fried rice, and crab rangoon. None were good and I were actually bad. We will stick to bofungs next time.

If you want good fresh chinese take out this is a clean friendly place in the city. They have a great lunch special 5.32 with tax and its enough to have seconds later that day or night.

Always fast, always friendly, always a HUGE portion. This is my go to for fresh, hot and tasty Americanized Chinese food. Now a few thoughts on Crab Rangoon. Everyone has a couple. You’re either in the garlic Crab Rangoon, or you’re in the sweet camp. Theirs are of the sweet variety. I am typically team garlic. These are still fantastic, and if your insulin levels allow for it. I highly suggest you try them. The menu is exactly the same as every other Chinese takeaway in the city. Don’t expect to find any treasures. Although they do have a couple curries. Not always a menu staple. Then of course, since this is Saint Louis, there is naturally a St. Paul sandwich available. One of these days, I am going to have to try one. Something has kept them on Saint Louis menus for over 40 years. But I also suspect that something has kept them from spreading very far outside the metro region…

I hesitated to give 5 stars only because it is more of a take out place for me, but for what it is it deserves 5 stars. This is not the sit down with a date kind of place(although their dining area is clean and well kept). I think it is 5 star worthy for the quality of food you get for the price. I make crab rangoon and because of that I usually don’t like restaurant’s crab rangoon, but theirs is excellent. Their dishes are also very fresh and flavorful. My favorite is the Roast Pork in Garlic sauce which they modify for me to not be hot. I’ve never had a problem with the service, they are always very friendly and fast. Highly recommend!

For months I have been craving some Chinese food. I began to research the area and after reading reviews I had to try this place! I drove out to the location and noticed the area it was in was actually an area I was familiar with! I entered the restaurant and was immediately greeted by the cashier! She was friendly and helpful. My «go to» dish at any Chinese restaurant is the sweet and sour chicken with friend rice; and so I didn’t have to think about what I wanted to order. What I really enjoyed about this place was that instead of the egg roll as the traditional side, I could choose crab rangoon instead! I LOVE crab rangoon and had actually thought about ordering a side of them; but since they were included in the meal I had to get them. They were to die for! Creamy and delicious! The sweet and sour chicken was phenomenal and just the way I love it! Some places use chicken that I find to be too chewy, but this was tender and juicy! Just thinking about it is making me hungry again. I will be making another visit and have another dish I plan to try! I will let you know how that goes!

I don’t like to just give out 5 stars for anything… that being said I really believe this place deserves it. I realize that this isn’t Chinese fine dining but the service and food here were extraordinary! We ordered Mongolian Beef, Szechuan combination, special egg foo yong, crab rangoon, crab sticks & shrimp egg rolls. The beef was very tender and flavorful. They actually make the crab sticks right with perfect breading. They offer the sweet variety of crab rangoon and gave us a big bagful for 3.95 tasty! The shrimp egg rolls were huge and also very good. They even gave us some(real) sugar cookies for dessert! Yum! We will be back! Definitely worth a stop! Will try and scan the menu… couldn’t find it online.

Not bad for cheap/quick Chinese. I was at the office supply store across the lot and got hungry, and it was there. It is actually pretty good, if you like sweeter and crispier crab rangoon(I do). It’s not gourmet Chinese but it’s quick. I don’t know if they deliver or not but it’s pretty close to my house anyway so I can just swing by on the way home without too much trouble. I had been going somewhere else but I think I like this place a little better.

I was really excited when this Chinese restaurant opened because I think there is a real lack of good Chinese places in the Southampton area. It’s located in the shopping center where Petsmart is at Kingshighway and Chippewa. I’ve gotten take-out several times and can say that the staff is really nice, the food is cooked fresh, and it comes out very quickly. I don’t vary much in my Chinese food and usually stick with plain fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, or egg rolls. Every time I’ve gotten the sweet and sour chicken, the chicken is all white meat and is not scary like many places. Everything is good, but normally plain fried rice still comes with green onion, egg, perhaps peas and carrots. But the plain fried rice here is completely plain, making it a little bland. They also have a dining section if you want to eat there.

Great for those occasions when you want close-by Chinese takeout. South City has long been hurting for a decent Chinese takeout joint. While New China isn’t the best Chinese food by a long shot, it is(generally) quite good, and it’s now our go-to choice for when we can’t think of anything else or just want some good cheap Chinese food. We particularly enjoy the mei fun, garlic tofu(sweet and spicy), and moo shu(they offer a veggie version). The hot and sour soup is also good. Avoid the rangoon(too full, and too sweet), moo goo gai pan(nearly flavorless), and anything involving shrimp(consistently strong off-taste). One nice thing about New China is that the veggies are almost always very crisp and fresh – something I’d almost never experienced in takeout Chinese before. Best of all, the price is shockingly low – my wife and I can gorge ourselves and still have leftovers for about $ 20. All that said, the dine-in experience is… surprisingly off-putting. They bring your food in takeout containers, along with paper plates and plasticware to eat with. No good. So we just stick with takeout, and for dine-in Chinese, we head elsewhere.
