Pita Plus is a great quick lunch stop. Their gyros, falafel, and grilled chicken pitas are all very tasty. I love that they provide tzatziki and hot sauce at the table, so you can load it on. It’s definitely a no frills restaurant, and depending who’s behind the counter, customer service might not be a 5-star experience(but in most cases it is). I would discourage ordering the chicken tandoori though. It more closely resembles buffalo chicken tenders than any tandoori chicken I’ve ever experienced. And while anything is good covered in tzatziki and wrapped in a delicious pita… basically everything else on the menu is better.

I’ve been getting gyros here almost 30 years(different owner back then but same quality). They’re great. The tzatziki sauce is particularly good, they provide their homemade pitas to other places, and the little guy behind the counter is so friendly!

Cute little restaurant in the corner of the shopping center. Feels like you’re in your grandparents kitchen. I had the falafel and it was amazing! I couldn’t finish it all, it’s decently large and not cheap either. The restaurant is sort of awkwardly small and quiet on a Saturday afternoon. I would highly recommend for takeout though! I will definitely go back to try the hummus.

the gyro plate is a joke. maybe its because i lived in brooklyn for so long and was spoiled with legitimate middle eastern spots but this is deplorable. no rice. a few tomatoes and pieces of lamb and a piece of lettuce. gimme a break.

I got to eat a late lunch at Pita Plus today. I have been eating here for at least 23 years that I can remember. It’s the best falafel and bourekas in St. Louis. It’s always fresh and delicious. The cheese boureka is my favorite. The dough is flaky and the cheese is buttery and creamy. I don’t get there very often because of the location but if you enjoy falafel and fresh pita go there now. The hummus and pita chips are also delicious. Best skhug(hot sauce) in St. Louis too! You really can’t go wrong with anything here!

So disappointed! Had a good referral from a friend to try it & went this evening to get dinner for my family. I arrived at 6:40pm and was told that my dinner for 4 was not big enough for him to prepare that close to closing. I have lived in the area for 15 years and have seen this place for a very long time but I will NEVER go back and try them.

The best falafel in the County. Take home the fresh pitas and hummus. I keep pita chips in the car. Good place.

Nothing fancy, but some of the best gyros in town. Good prices great service, friendly staff. You can also buy pita to go, but get there early or they will run out!

Wonderful hidden gem in Creve Coeur! The gyros are second to none, and you cannot beat the prices! The spinach burrekas are also fantastic!

Food is always fresh. Service is superb and prices are reasonable. I’ve been here numerous times and never been disappointed. I usually get their falafel sandwich which is always hot and fresh. The sweets are delicious and the Mediterranean salad is awesome. Overall great little place.

What I really love about this place is the culture it embodies! I walked into the store on a cold winter day and was welcomed with the warmest greeting! I felt like I was in a family members cozy little kitchen. The store owner was extremely friendly and even suggested I open the box and try the falafel before I took it home. Needless to say, it was delicious! I gave this 4 stars out of 5 because it was a bit pricey for the amount you get. The food is worth it though!(At least the falafel platter)

I have visited Pita plus for about 15 years now and would gladly recommend it to anyone who likes a good Gyro! Some things like I about this place– 1) They gyro is always consistent! The meat is perfectly done and made on a Gyro machine, it’s not the kind that’s warmed in a microwave! 2) The falafel and burekha’s are again consistent and perhaps the best I have eaten. When I eat these at other places(including authentic places in Chicago and New York), I always find myself comparing them to the ones at Pita Plus. 3) The sauces are to die for! And also the hummus. The sauces — yogurt and cucumber based Tzaziki sauce and a red pepper sauce– are kept in plastic squeeze containers in the refrigerator and they have no restrictions on how much you use. 4) The food is delivered fairly quick and I don’t think I have ever had an order mixed up. The location is also convenient with ample parking. Things that I don’t care much for — 1) At one time, I loved some of their«healthier» options like the Olive Chicken and Tandoori Chicken platter. However now they seem to have substituted the marinated chicken for some kind of Tyson’s frozen buffalo/crispy chicken which they microwave and stuff into a Pita. Yuck! Stick to Gyro’s and falafel’s, nothing else can be really trusted. 2) The current owner, who’s been running this place for over 10 years perhaps, is a bit of an oddball. I think the guy is an okay bloke but can be quite petty at times. Case in point, I had once purchased about 6 gyros to go and he gave me enough sauce for barely 1 gyro in a tiny container! When I asked him if I could have more, he said these things are not cheap and I would have to pay for it. Strange because they are served in unlimited quantities when you eat in! He also seems to rush you if you stop by in the evenings, usually insisting that you carry out instead of eating in! All said, they still serve good Gyros, falafels and Burekha’s…and the price is reasonable in my opinion. It’s a simple place and if you happen to be in the area then it’s worth stopping by and checking it out…

Falafel is so delicious! The spicy sauce on the side is just that… and I usually put a couple small drops on the sandwich and it’s perfect. The owners are really nice but they are always trying to sell you something else. That’s okay, they’re a mom/pop type place that could use more business. Didn’t know this but they deliver via . I’ve never used that service but it’s a nice option. They’re located right next to Dobbs so if you need an oil change or work on your car, this is a perfect spot to grab a bite and eat!

All I can say is this the best falafel in town. I’ve been coming for years and it never disappoints. I am also a vegetarian and love to find veg friendly restaurants. It’s a little hole in the wall with GREAT falafels. If your in the neighborhood don’t miss it.

Great family-run place! At first it seemed a little odd that a Greek restaurant would be run by a Russian couple but after the first bite that concern melted away. We had a variety of dishes at the table but my choice was a gyros. The meat had a great flavor and was slightly crisped from rotating on the spit. The pita bread was fresh(they make them in house) and the tzatziki sauce(also made in house) was served in a squeeze bottle such that I was able to portion it out for each and every bite. What stole the show was all of the above plus the addition of lettuce and tomatoes. Generally speaking, I like my gyros pretty simple — meat, sauce, onion and pita are enough. I gave in the owner’s insistence that I try it the way he makes it(with lettuce and tomatoes added) and it really worked. My wife have the falafel and I will likely order that next time around. One kid had a salad that she demolished while the other one opted for a rice and gyro meat dish that she loved. Everyone was happy. The food was great. The homemade touches were much appreciated. The couple that runs the place was very nice and interested in making sure that we had a great dinner. What more can you ask for???

Husband insisted on taking the family here for dinner the other night, even after we discovered that we would arrive 20 minutes before they closed. The Teen’s and I were groaning because we expected to encounter service that had had a long day and just wanted to go home. This was not the case. When we arrived, the owner and a friend were seated at one of the tables — when we got there, we were greeted warmly. I noticed the men were speaking Russian, which confused me at a meditteranean place so I asked them about it. The owner is Russian and speaks very little English; his friend is also Russian but worked for A-B as an accountant and speaks fluent English. This may explain some of the comments about the owner in the other reviews… We chatted with his friend while they prepared our food — I recently returned from Ukraine and he was interested in my experiences there. It was a good way to try out my limited Russian as well — I think they got a kick out of it. He gave us a potato burreka to try and it was delicious — even the Teens liked it. I had been craving a falafel for about three weeks now, so I went for a sandwich. It was a generous serving of savoury falafel stuffed into a fluffy warm pita and dressed. The big excitement was when he handed us a bottle of tzatziki to use. We all love the stuff, so he may have regretted that decision but it was great for us to have unlimited tzatziki — so many places charge you for extra. Teens had a greek salad and a gyro plate and both loved their food — husband had a gyro sandwich and enjoyed it as well. All of our food was delicious and on our way out the owner presented us with a bag of pitas to take home! We will definitely be back — I suspect the Teens will ask for this place, which says a lot more about it than my review does.

The owner who works the counter is ridiculously delightful! Though at first seemingly rough around the edges, he is just not a man of many words. But he is a man of some great falafel! The menu is small but well rounded, including gyros, falafel, burekas and more. Their middle eastern salad was excellent — as well as their hummus and tzatziki sauce. The restaurant is very small, only a few tables, so take-out might be easier if there are already groups eating. There is a small fridge where you can choose from fresh hummus and other dips to purchase and take home — and they sell their fresh pitas by the bag! I really loved the personalized service, quick turnaround, how clean the place was and, of course, the tasty food. I’ll be back when I’m in the area again for sure!

I love this place! Great gyros and humus. The owner is a little short but I find his straight forwardness adds to the charm. It’s small inside so I usually get mine to go but occasionally my husband eat in and the guy always talks to us. The baclava is so good but I hate spending $ 3 for a small piece but I still do it since I love it. This is the kind of small family owned place I love to go to but I’m always afraid that the next time I go they will be closed. Small business are just having a hard time staying open these days.

I went back to find the place STILL empty, but open. The man wasn’t standing behind the counter, the chill-case was empty, and I think he wanted to go home. No smile, no greeting. Ordered a gyro on wheat pita with feta and the Mid-East Salad — diced tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, and parsley in olive oil and lemon dressing, served with Kalamata olives(really, there was just one — with a pit). The man took my order. As he was walking to the back, I said, «That’s to-go.» He said, «I know.» Hmmm, a little charm school wouldn’t hurt, especially since this meal cost more than $ 11. The salad was delicious, but quite skimpy for $ 3.55 and one measly Kalamata olive — with a pit. The tzatziki and feta were in separate containers. So I built the sandwich, picked it up to take a bite, and everything split through the bottom of the pocket seam. So glad I was home. So I knife-and-forked it. Good taste, plenty of meat, onion, tomato, lettuce and cucumber. The tzatziki and feta were required touches, IMO. And it really was a good thing they were packed separately, ’cause their moisture would have sogged everything up. While the salad lasted less than 5 minutes, the gyro lasted two meals, but I ditched the wheat pita on the repeat.

This place gets 5 stars because it consistenly delivers one of the most delicious and satisfying food experiences I’ve ever had. I only ever get one thing here. Everything else is probably great, but once you find perfection, there’s no reason to stray. Step 1: Order the gyro sandwich. It’s just a pita pocket(white or wheat) stuffed with quality gyro meat, fresh cucumber, red onion, and a tomato slice. Cost is around $ 6.50. Wait time is about 3 minutes. Step 2: From the small freezer, get a container of the tzatziki(white) sauce and the hot(red) sauce. These are both made fresh by the restaurant. YOUMUSTGETBOTHOFTHESESAUCESFORTHEPROPEREXPERIENCE. DONOTDISOBEYME. I AM F*CKINGSERIOUSABOUTTHIS. Step 3: Apply the tzatziki and the hot sauce to the top of your sandwich. The hot sauce is quite spicy so go easy on it at first. Use a pita chip(comes with the sandwich) to blend the sauces together and spread them on the meat. Step 4: Take your first bite. Close your eyes and listen to the angels sing as you chew. Don’t forget to breathe. Step 5: Try to compose yourself and enjoy the rest of your gyro sandwich, re-applying both sauces as necessary. Appreciate the wonderful compact shape of the sandwich which makes it easy to eat without getting your hands dirty or having stuff fall out. Step 6: Once you’re finished call an old friend and tell them how much you appreciate them. I eat about one of these a week and the magic has not worn off. I doubt it ever will. Side notes: The hummus and falafel are great here, and you can get sides of both. The owner is cool and has tons of personality. RFT& Sauce is available to read. They also sell pre-made hummus and other middle eastern stuff. Also, do NOT be seduced by the gyro platter. If you get this, you have to build the sandwich yourself and it is a big pain in the ass. Order the sandwich and let them make it. They do it right.
