Red’s 8th Inning is a small neighborhood bar in Carondelet. It’ full of characters and lots of things to look at, including a pimped out mannequin, that gets lots of «action,» according to the bartender. I was there with a group for karaōke and had a good time. This is a smoky dive bar, but the staff and patrons are friendly and entertaining.

This firefighter hangout is one of the more unique Carondolet drinking holes. The place is filled with some very awesome firefighter related antiques– some very old firetruck toys, a mock station pole with boots hanging from it, and tons of very old fire chief helmets from all around the St. Louis area, and more. The décor here is very very cool. Red’s features a ping pong table, right in the middle of the place! The bar isn’t that big, so a ping pong game can quickly turn into a spectacle here. You gotta love the ping pong option as opposed to the usual pool table. The crowd here is largely blue collar and friendly. A great place to drink, watch a ballgame and play some ping pong. The Carondolet fire station is right down the street from Red’s, and supposedly this place fills up with the night shift most mornings. The only negative of Red’s is their ventilation is not as good as most smoky taverns in STL. This place is very smoky, and this is coming from a guy who doesn’t mind smoky bars at all. But the awesome atmosphere easily compensates for this imperfection.
