Zero stars if I could! Don’t waste your time or money on Remember Me. The older lady who runs the place only runs clients away. I had a bad experience the year before(the old lady was rude and breathing down my neck while looking for a costume), and dreaded to go into this place, but I lived right down the street and needed a costume quick. I was on my cell while in a rush to grab and 80’s outfit, talking to a friend who had been admitted to the hospital the night before. There was only 1 other customer in the ENTIRE store other than myself. I wan’t even allowed a chance to browse, she asked me exactly what I was looking for in a rude tone. When I told her I was just going to browse, she loudly told me «NO». She said No, I wasn’t going to be in her store while I was on the phone, it was disturbing to all the other customers, that I would need to either get off the phone or leave if I wanted to talk on the phone. I left immediately, extremely angry. On my way to the mall to find an outfit(which I found something great at Forever 21 for VERY cheap), after getting off the phone with my friend I decided to call Miss Crabby pants from Remember Me to let her know her attitude wasn’t necessary. She didn’t even allow me to finish what I was saying and hung up on me, twice! This woman should not be allowed to run a business, especially a store that COULD be great. There are some costumes that are really cute, but TRUSTME, it isn’t worth it.

Popped in to take a look see while waiting for the Pet Parade to start. I don’t know the names of the 2 women that were working at the time but they were friendly and helpful. The store is packed to the gills with cool vintage clothing. Made me wish I still had kept my white patent leather go-go boots! We only checked out the first floor. But I understand the basement holds more cool vintage clothing. If I find myself in need of a cool costume, I definately would check out Remember Me. Heck, I may even take a pair of those go-go boots for a spin.

I admit I too was intimidated by the negative reviews about this location. However, I recently had a masquerade themed party and the woman working at Remember Me was a life-savor! She was very helpful and pleasant to speak with. I wish I remembered her name, but I know she is not the owner/manager. She has long hair and majored in theatrical costumes or something with the theatre so she knows her stuff! My friends and I all rented victorian style dresses and a couple of guys also rented outifts. The dresses included the ball gown, hoop skirt, choker, head piece(feathers) and gloves. All for a reasonable $. The men’s costumes consisted of very ornate coats with gorgeous buttons/trim/cuffs, matching vests, knicker-esque pants and frilly fake shirt pieces that made their collars and shirt cuffs appear to be very decorative and fitting for the overall aesthetic. I would definitely go back to rent/buy other costumes and look forward to the next chance I get to dress up again!

My friend and I were in Remember Me this past Friday and had such a FANTASTIC experience! Diane assisted us and was so helpful finding me the sizes I need(Which is difficult since I’m very busty). She never got annoyed with our insanity and the fact we were there so long we made ourselves at home. I think the fact that we respect vintage clothing made it slighlty easier when I purchased all the dresses that were in mine and Diane’s size. I told her they were going to a good home :-) I’m glad my friend and I did not get detoured from the store because of the other reviews, we loved our experience and can’t say enough good things about the store! Wish I would have brought more money ; – ) –Erin O

I called Remember Me for some basic information. The woman that answered the phone told me her name, after I asked, was Diane. I asked if she was the manager. She rambled on about not being able to run something and that she would call me back. I told her that I didn’t need her to call me back, but instead just the manager’s name. She said the same thing about calling me back. So I asked if she was the manager and she hung up on me. I wouldn’t spend a dime here. If this is the way they treat potential customers that are simply calling I can’t imagine how they treat people in the store.

I needed costumes for a photoshoot and this place went above and beyond to help get everything just perfect! I was a little hesitant after reading the reviews, but was pleasantly surprised when everything worked out so wonderfully.

Uggh. I am glad I am not alone in my utter disdain for the owner/manager/Mrs. Crabby Pants of this store. Remember Me is a vintage and costume shop in Soulard. It is a smallish store with tons of merchandise. The issue is not with the merchandise or the quality of the products(although, they were all overpriced). Nope, the issue is with Mrs. Crabby Pants. I walked in looking for costumes for a theater production. I couldn’t get five words out before Mrs. Crabby Pants was practically berating me into telling her«exactly what I need». Um… yeah, I’m just browsing so settle down, Mrs. Pants. When I would ask questions, it was like I was asking her to cut off her left leg. And, she wouldn’t stop fussing about in the store in order to give me 30 continuous seconds of attention. She was the height of irritation and annoyance. Her seamstress co-worker was more friendly, thankfully. She seemed much more helpful and approachable, but Mrs. Crabby Pants consistently talked over her, ignored her, and generally treated her poorly, too. Yeah, I’d be finding a new job. Do they have good stuff? Sure, I guess. Were they friendly, absolutely not. It is a shame. A store like that in that area is wonderful. But Mrs. Crabby Pants needs a serious attitude adjustment. This is a small town; word will spread.

I LOVE vintage. Damn near LIVE for vintage, actually. I have a deep and abiding love of all things vintage and revere pretty much anything old… but you couldn’t pay me to go back to this place! There are far too many other great vintage shops in St. Louis that offer just as good or better quality and pricing, without the godawful crappy attitude. This was hands-down the worst experience I have ever had in a vintage store. The owner and her seamstress/shop worker were equally rude to everyone who entered the store. I was there for about 2 hours, thoroughly looking over all the stock for sale and then also had to wait for a dressing room for awhile. When I advised the owner that one of the dresses had a hole and the zipper was stuck, she seemed affronted I would mention it: «Well for a $ 32 dress, I’m not fixing it.» I just thought she might want to know since she had a seamstress working there. Then, I picked up a pair of dress clips that had a price tag on one of the pair. When I went to pay, she said that it wasn’t one price for both. This is like pricing earrings individually. And who has ever heard of someone going UP on the price at checkout? When a woman trying 60s dresses on asked if they had another dress in the same style, the owner sneered: «You’ve seen everything!» I exchanged a roll of the eyes with said tryer-on’s friend. She treated everyone like a suspect and just oozed a negativity that I would defy the happy-go-luckiest of people to rise above. It’s really too bad because there were a few decent pieces to be had and I was initially impressed that all items were marked with measurements, even if prices were on the high end. Pay more and get this sh*tty attitude? Uh, no thanks! I feel really sorry for this woman that she is so miserable. And I feel sorrier for the few lovely treasures that call this place home – they and YOU deserve much better!

I’m sure that I’ve mentioned my love of vintage clothing and costume shops, but I may as well gush some more about them. Remember Me is located in Soulard and sells vintage clothing and rents costumes for any occasion. Their website doesn’t do this place justice; there is so much selection and the merchandise is constantly changing. I visit this place a lot and always find something great, whether it’s to wear as is or to turn into something else. Also, Remember Me is a great place to stock up on Mardi Gras supplies; you can never have too many beads, right?
