Since the recent renovation, this Schnucks is a vast improvement. Here are a few areas in particular which deserves applause. First, the improvements in the deli alone deserve some accolades with many fine encased meats to choose from. And what else goes with encased meats? Well, beer. The beer selection has quite a few local breweries such as 4 Hands, Urban Chestnut, and Schlafly while also having many Belgian bottles. Really, this might be one of the best beer selections in South County. Since these two things really represent the majority of my caloric intake, I can’t really speak to the other aspects of the store; however, for my needs it is overall a good supermarket.

This is a pretty damned ghetto Schnucks… Was more like a Save-a-Lot. Lots of annoying bright yellow signs, and everything was just miskempt. They didn’t have anything I was looking for, that is readily available at other Schnucks stores. Skip this one, and find one of the nicer ones around town!

Whenever I come into this place, I can’t help but think of two very commonly known slogans for this supermarket. «At Schnuck’s we make it easy» and«The friendliest store in town.» Ok, this place does not make anything easier for me and I’m telling, it’s not even close to being the friendliest store in town. This place has some of the worst prepared foods in St. Louis. I never want to get anything here because it all looks like it’s been sitting out all day. Also, the salad bar, not so stellar, again, looks like it’s been sitting there all day and no one has touched it. I will not buy anything here that is not prepackaged. The bakery is just alright, I just don’t enjoy most of their items. The gooey butter cake is dry and the bagels are not good, I will admit, they have amazing sugar cookies… I dream about them, but otherwise, I pass on this bakery. Also, the checkers here are NOT friendly at all. They seem angry, and why not? I know they have to pay union dues and Schnuck’s won’t let the workers bring their own lunch, so if they want to eat while working an 8 hour shift, they have to use some of their hard earned cash to eat the terrible prepared foods in the employee lounge… I might be crabby too if I was forced to choke down yellow potato salad for dinner on a daily basis. Also, the organic/vegetarian/vegan food selection is LAUGHABLE! I mean, they have about 3 freezers, mostly filled with cheesy goodness and amy’s organic meals… so good luck vegans… I highly suggest searching elsewhere, this is not the store for you. So I ask you, St. Louis Unilocalers… exactly how is Schnuck’s making anything easy? How is it the friendliest store in town? If you need to shop, and this place is close, you will find all the staples you need. It’s relatively clean and the store has a movie rental box and a place where you can buy Six Flags tickets.(I suppose that’s helpful). However, it’s not a great grocery store. Since we have so many choices down here, I highly suggest driving a little further down the road till you hit something else… because I am convinced it will be better.
