32 years ago my parents stopped in there to go to the bathroom…9 months after that I was born.

Very cheap and they usually come in for the soda and the Arizona tea because the tax is cheaper there than the rest of the downtown St Louis because it’s a gas station in the whole world comes there from poverty to wealthy but mainly poverty

This place gets three stars just becuase it is so entertaining! You will not be disappointed when you come here for some form of amusement is taking place. Whether its people yelling at each other, security guards on duty just eying people down and saying crude things to customers as they go in the store…
If your looking to put creamer in anything you can forget it. My mom forgot her creamer so i went in to get her some, they don’t have the normal little cups of creamer just the powder kind… no napkins… no cups to put it in… so what do i do? I improvised and used my hand to carry it out… i sure did get some mean looks like I was doing something illegal… lol
It is really hard to get a pump here alot of times, you have to wait. Be prepared to be booted out of your pump stall once you have finished immediately. I come here all the time when in St. Louis (downtown) because I love shell and I love the people at this gas station (not the employees) the people who frequent it.

This Shell is tight to get in and out of and can be a bit of a problem at times. I constantly go into the store just to receive some really lackadaisical service where it seems as if I’m keeping them from doing their jobs. This location, also, doesn’t carry booze, making it pretty inconvenient. The prices on gas are usually reasonable, and close to the average around town. I’m here quite often due to it’s proximity to my dwelling, however it seems like nothing has ever changed in the 5 years that I have been living downtown. When is a QT ever coming to the downtown area?

Oh, HAI, Worst-Gas-Station-In-St.-Louis! How YOU doin’?
No, this is not the worst gas station because it’s «in a sketchy area» (A block from Washington? REALLY, people? You’re askeered of that?). Instead, this Shell station earns its honor by being the least functional service station that I can think of.
There are only two islands of petrol pumps, with very narrow space between them. There’s no room to turn around, the entrances from the streets aren’t well thought out, and customers are just flat-​out are stupid here. Instead of staying off to the side while they idle in their SUVs and wait for a pump to free up, they crawl up on the ass of another car, blocking the path of anyone trying to enter or leave. When they do get a pump, they chat on the phone before they even remove the handle, or they’ll pump for a bit, stop, go into the store, chat with the cashier, return to the car, pump some more, return inside to pay more, and then leave. It’s completely insane.
Even though this Shell station is only a block from me, I’ve been rolling my eyes, cursing, and skipping it as I head to the BP on Jefferson at Hwy 40, instead.

Wow, so close to Washington Ave, yet ghetto as hell.
