Very good thrift store with a lot of reasonably priced furniture and excellent selection of books. The clothing, shoes & accessories selection wasn’t quite so great in my opinion but still decent. The dressing rooms smelled pretty terrible but the rest of the store was clean and well organized. Overall this place had a pretty good vibe and I’m sure I’d become a regular if I lived in the area.

Not the greatest selection I have ever seen of stuff, but I managed to find some clothing gems in small sizes for my EBay store. Love buying stuff sponsored from such an amazing organization! Will be back next time in the area. I am a sucker for a thrift store. They have a $ 10 brown bag special, where everything that fits is one price.

Pretty good selection, however can someone please take the wax pencil away from the pricer. Seriously people, invest in stickers. I purchased a lovely vintage Salton Hotray made out of teak. For the life of me I cannot get the enormously sprawled«$ 5.35» off of the front of it. Aaarg.

What a bummer! Since this thrift store has moved from the CWE to Florrissant, it’s gone seriously downhill. I used to count on this particular shop for fantastic used furniture and the occasional party dress. It seemed like little old rich people donated their awesome wares here upon moving to a smaller home or after they passed away. Morbid, I know, but that seemed to be the case… While in the market for a new dresser, I though, «What they hey?» and drove up to Florissant to look. Such a disappointment! The store up north is tiny and has more used, crappy TV’s than anything else. On the SVDPS website, they’ve indicated that a South City location will be opening soon. Hopefully it’s an improvement from their other new store.

St. Vincent’s has such a great selection for a thrift store although you have to be very careful what time of year you go shopping for furniture. Forget about getting anything worthwhile from mid-August until October since SLU and WashU kids are returning to school right around that time. Anything and everything that is cool including that posh sofa will be gone. The best part about St. Vincent’s is that you can haggle with the staff and they even seemed to enjoy it. I got a huge beige couch down to $ 60 from $ 90! Don’t be afraid to be stingy, it’s all going to charity anyhow. They have a huge selection of stand-alone record players. I’ve often thought of converting one into a chest of drawers or even into a shelving unit. I’m hoping someone might take advantage of their large selection and do it.

Back in the day, I used to go here often and things were pretty cheap. It’s never been the best for clothes(but they used to have a lot of stuff and it was inexpensive), but for furniture, it was a great place to look for vintage stuff. It’s a really large place – warehouse sized. It is still a good place to look for furniture, but the prices aren’t what they used to be. I feel aged by saying this because I feel like I’ve been having to say it about a lot of things later. Darn economy. If you like weird and random old books, I recommend browsing here. I’ve picked up some strange things, one of my favorites being a women’s medical guide from the 50s.

Probably the best place in town for second-hand furniture, but as the neighborhood has gentrified, so has the clientele, so the competition for decent stuff is considerably more fierce. This has driver most of my thrift-store shopping further North, where I don’t have to hang with yuppie dickbags and spoiled Wash U kids.

My best ashtrays come from here. The housewares selection tends to be pretty good, but there are off days. There’s an occasional gem to be had in the clothing section. Furniture is very expensive by thrift store standards. The cashier frequently charges me less than what the price tag says for some reason. I’m okay with it.

Pack your car with your«gently used» items, drive around back to the unloading dock, empty your car, ring the doorbell. A friendly staff will take your donations, sign your receipt, and wish you well on your way off with your tax deduction. Fast and easy. We’re in the process of moving and have become regular visitors, purging unused items accumulated over at least 10 years. We’ll continue to visit after the move to limit our collection of Stuff. More importantly, the St Vincent De Paul Society mission is worthy; look it up.
