34 Club is AWESOME! And I guess I owe Morgan an apology. Although it is COMPLETELYILLEGAL to run a tip on my credit card without my permission… Morgan must be exempt from that law. ***Dont get drunk and forget to tip her… well actually you can because she’ll just tip herself for you.(And then get on your ass the next time you cone in by saying, «You guys said you were going to tip me but you didn’t. «) Avid 34 Club when Morgan is working… but the rest of yhe staff are INCREDIBLE! They’re fun, courteous and a blast to laugh and joke with. ***Added bonus… they won’t rip you off.

Sean the bartender is terrible and discriminates. He told me he hates me because I’m English. He constantly calls me a Limey so I established a non-profit organization, and will be walking across America from New York to Los Angeles to raise further awareness on the issue of bullying.

If you like to smoke and drink with older folks, drop in here before 5 on a weekday. Good service. Stripped down décor. Gay-friendly. Neighborly crowd – everyone seems to know each other. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drink here, but if you’re in the area you could do a lot worse.

I’m a HUGE fan of 34 Club! Small, smokey, and FUN!!! The drinks are reasonably priced, the bartenders are attentive, and the customers blend into family as you patronize regularly. Very open to ALL.

Do you like dives? You found one of two of the best in St. Louis. Mix of regulars, passersby, rich, poor, college students and students of life. Juke box, cheap drinks. Oh did I mention it has the world best bartenders?

This is a great dive bar in the CWE. It’s on the end of the CWE where parking isn’t a challenge. The drinks are strong, and the bar is smokey. I actually thought the music was pretty good, we sat at a table with friends and had a great time. Captain and Coke was $ 4.50, but they were ½ full of captain… I liked the place a lot, I’ll be back for sure. It’s simple but it’s a dive.

Every time — the bartenders have been great, the patrons friendly, and the music pretty good. Even though it is a smoking bar, I really like it. The drinks are not too pricey. There are few snobby people here — extra bonus!

One of the best bars in the area. Consistent, nice jukebox, great service, reasonable prices. I always stop by here on my way home.

I don’t know what else to give this place but five stars. I mean, it is a textbook example of a dive bar. We fell in to this place while we waited for a table at Taste. The first indication that we found a dive bar Mecca was the layer of smoke that permeated everything and the abundance of neon beer signs. The bartender was sassy and abrasive, with a cigarette hanging out her mouth, perfect. She was astute too to deduce quickly by our wandering eyes that they didn’t have draft beer. So when in Rome, order a tall boy Stag beer. We bellied up at the vintage bar and cussed and bitched the whole time while rocking out some 80’s rock on the jukebox. Once we were satisfied with our bloated guts and absorption of cigarette smoke, we went on our way to be back who knows when.

Great place — it’s still stuck in 1960’s and I love it. Love Anita the bartender. It may be a bit run down, but that it part of the charm. BIG fan of 34 Club.

A-OK rates pretty highly as a smoky dive bar in 2011! Great characters sitting around the bar. Quite a despairing bartendress — don’t ask for fancy anything. I asked for my tequila in a rocks glass vs. a shot glass and her response«doesn’t mean I’m pouring you more!». Great fun! 4 drinks just under $ 20. Love that.

Every part of town needs a good dive bar to gather with regulars, avoid tourists, and enjoy cheapo drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. I like 34 club. It’s not close enough to be my neighborhood bar, but if I lived in the CWE, I’d visit more often. It sits right smack in the middle of the upscale CWE. It’s a divey hole with a potluck of characters. It’s still a smoking bar, for now. The bartenders are old school. So, you can expect them to know how to make a Manhattan or the like. They pour strong drinks, so you’ll leave happy and taxis are actually nearby. In St. Louis, there are only so many bars that can actually get a cab to arrive in a timely manner, if at all.

I learned about the 34 Club 17 years ago from my little sister Emily. She told me that people brought their dogs in the bar. That’s all I had to hear. I started taking my Pomeranian ZsaZsa that week. Whats better dogs and drinking? I could still party and hang out with my dog. We both had a good time. She has recently passed and now I have a new dog to take-Remy(chihuahua). They are however no longer allowing this– if I have my dog with me, I go to Rosie’s around the corner. I went to the 70th Birthday party Sunday. I saw people I hadn’t seen in 10 years. It was great, they had a band and a burlesque act, and excellent food. They even had a piano player and a singalong inside. They really did it up right. Go to the 34 Club! You will meet all kinds of folks. You may be surprised who you will see. You can smoke your ass off if you want. Make sure you take care of your bartenders, Sean and Anita and just don’t ask for a pina coloda and special olives for you vodka. You could get tossed out.

This little dive was right around the corner from my old apartment, and golly do I miss it. I’m a no frills kind of guy. In the Central West End, everything is frilly. Except the reliable olé 34. Venture in. You’ll love it. Great crowd, great prices, great bartenders.

The beautiful wife and I stopped by the 34 Club last Thursday. Three things stood out: 1) The have Six Row’s porter on tap. Sweet. 2) They’re exempt from the smoking ban. It was pretty packed, but surprisingly, didn’t feel all that smokey. 3) An aged female barfly was sitting next to the wife. After some small talk, apparently she took a glance at me and told the wife«you could do better.» I love this place.

if you are looking for a smoky/cheap/dive bar scene in CWE you have found the right place. It may not have the nicest bartenders in town, but the will sling drinks all night for you if you are polite and tip! 34 Club is not for everyone, but it is what it is and it does it damn well.
