My wife and I recently dined here for the first time and have been back twice since. Their soups, sandwiches and desserts are outstanding. On two occasions, Andrew was out waiter and he was terrific. This place has a very friendly and bohemian vibe so check it out!

This little art deco diner is adorable, and a must-try on any stop through St. Louis. It is directly across the street from Pappy’s and Southern(two other booming St. Louis icons!), tucked back a street or two. The interior is terribly charming, and even the menu is an incredibly well-preserved blast from the past. My fiancé and I stopped in for lunch last weekend and were not disappointed. The house was packed, but it was not overly loud, nor did we have to wait for a seat. I ordered the cuban with a stutz salad. I would highly, highly recommend the cuban. It is delicious! It is pulled pork, ham, melted cheese, and a couple of pickle slices. I am not a huge pickle fan… I bit into the sandwich, and after the first bite, I took the pickles off… Only to find that I actually missed them and put them back on! The thing is perfect as is. Don’t mess with the cuban. I also liked the stutz salad, but found it a little on the drier side because of the spinach. Next time I will order with extra orange slices and with the dressing on the side. And don’t forget to get an ice cream while you’re here! My fiancé and I split one of their specialty sundaes… I have forgotten the name, but it was a darker chocolate with a marshmallow topping and a chocolate coin! Yum. Our service was also stellar the whole time. Would highly recommend the place.

I just love their salads. I mean usually salads are just salads, amiright? But this place somehow takes them and makes them great. Their toppings are always fresh and the poppy seed dressing is delicious and mixed in perfectly(not too much, not too little). What’s even better is that they’re offered as a regular side for their sandwiches. I recommend the birdseed salad and stutz salad. Both delicious. Their sandwiches are also delicious, I highly recommend the pesto chicken and the space may have the best Cuban sandwich in stl. I’ve also had the Blackhawk which is just ok. The hummus is also delicious. Their world’s tiniest ice cream cone is cute, but the brownie in a cup is where it’s at.

The Fountain offers feasts both visual and gustatory. The artwork and décor of the dining area is really something to behold, and the bathroom frequently appears on national best-of lists. The food is good, the service is good, and the ice cream concoctions are quality.

Went to the Fountain today before a show at Scottrade. I enjoyed both the dill pickle soup and moscow mushroom soup. My wife had the roast beef melt but wishes she had gotten the pesto chicken sandwich. What she really liked was the St Louis City Salad. My daughter had the grilled cheese, but really liked the worlds smallest chocolate cone, and I’d say my wife and I really liked our banana bourbon sundae more than anything.

Not one thing on this menu could get a bad review. The atmosphere is great inside an old car dealership. The murals are beautiful and the woodwork in the bar is beautiful. This is a good daytime family atmosphere and adult evening atmosphere. They have a selection for all foodies around-meat, vegans, organic, gluten free, etc… But of course, everyone comes for the homemade icecream and adult martinis. We always bring our friends to Fountains when they want something fun, but not a bar atmosphere. Everyone enjoys, we’ve loved everything we’ve had here and the prices are on point for the food. We will continue to return!

My favorite spot in St. Louis to take friends from out of town! The ambiance is incredible, the food is always delicious, and the drink menu is sure to satisfy. If you love pickles like I do, the Polish dill pickle soup is a must-try.

KILLIAN!!! We had a party of 5 in on a Saturday night for dinner and Killian was our server. What an awesome server this guy is. If you go, ask to sit in his section. Fun, friendly, and a GREAT server. Our group had attempted to dine at another establishment earlier in the evening and had just such an awful experience, enough were we had to leave before we ever even sat down to eat. So by the time we got to Fountain, we pretty much assumed our night was a bust. Killian and Fountain completely turned our night around and my friends and I had so much fun! The champagne was delicious and on ice, the food was SO good and really fast(especially considering how busy they were), and Killian’s happy smile, fun and positive attitude made a world of difference. I’m tellin’ ya, we were C-R-A-B-B-Y when we arrived but left with smiles on our faces and happy full-bellies! Food: The side salad is the bomb, I’m still craving it. I hunt the streets of St. Louis for a really good Cuban Sandwich, often to be disappointed, but Fountain’s Cuban sandwich is REALLY good. Killian pointed out that it’s the yummy sauce they use on it. yum! Killian! Cuban! Champagne! Fountain! HOORAY!

Great ambience, great drinks, great service. We went here after watching Wicked at the Fabulous Fox. It was a great way to end the night. We had the cheesy pesto bread which was delicious. My favorite was the thin mint martini! We also had a mini sundae and the pineapple cake dessert. Everything was fantastic and our server was prompt!

I really love this place. My 3 brothers and I were in from out of town for thanksgiving and wanted to have family bonding time on Black Friday so I suggested this place as a lunch spot. The food menu is small but there is something for everyone. My dad and brothers are picky eaters but liked it, and in general everyone just loved the vibe here. Their drink menu is extensive so it is impossible not to find something you like. There were 6 of us so I called ahead to make a reservation(they only take reservations for a party of 5 or more). When we got there for lunch at 12:30, the place was mostly empty. By the time we left around 2pm it was packed. Service was great, everyone is so friendly. Food and drinks came out quickly. I’m not going to write what we got for food because we pretty much got one of every sandwich. But the main point here is how great of an atmosphere it is for people of any ages. Great date spot. Great place to take your parents. Great place to take your kids. Like I said, something for everyone.

I adore this place! You’ll fall in love with the charming Gatsbyesque décor. If you can, try to get a booth where you can listen to a radio drama! I’m working my way through 24 signature cocktails as a member of the Fountain Club and haven’t been disappointed yet. I recommend the«Ugly Stepsister!» The food is also great. Very unique menu with vegetarian option. I recommend the Royal Grille — an adult grilled cheese. Kitchen is open late, too. Be sure to save your receipt as it will get you a $ 1 off your next visit!

Great food, great ice cream, cute interior and ambiance. They are incredibly packed most days even during lunch. They received high profile reviews not too long ago and it’s kind of turned into a tourist spot. Go when you have enough time to spare because you won’t get out of there within an hour. Going there for food and or ice cream is great. Go for both, I say ;)

Awesome restaurant. They are open late and have a menu that makes everyone happy. If you want a late snack… they have it. If you want a late dinner… they have it. If you want to get some ice cream… they have it. And with all of that… they serve cocktails!!! We stopped here for ice cream, ended up with ice cream martinis. The menu looked so good, we are definitely going back for dinner one night.

Went to Fountain on Locust on Friday night after Powell Symphony. It’s a great late night place. It was after 10 and we didn’t want to eat a large meal. I ordered a cup of chicken tomato soup(excellent, substantial, and flavorful with lots of veggies), my boyfriend ordered the pickle soup(not my favorite but he likes it), and we shared the La Picada appetizer(hummus, goat cheese, pesto, zucchini, onion, roasted red pepper on grilled bread. Everything was great and we each had a tiny ice cream cone to top it off. Love the place and atmosphere. Excellent choice if you are in Grand Center for any reason.

The Fountain on Locust is a little hidden gem between Cardinal and Garrison Aves. Is it an ice cream shop, a sandwich shop or a cocktail bar? Surprise! It’s all three. We stopped by there for lunch today. Someday I’m going to go back and have one of their delicious looking ice cream martinis. Yes, they have liquor in them. What a great country. Mike decided on the Cuban Sandwich and I had the Roast Beef Melt. We both chose a small side of the Polish Pickle Soup. They had other special soups today that also sounded delightful like the beef stroganoff soup. Potato soup with dill pickles mixed in. Picklelicious. Mike’s Cuban Sandwich was pork, ham and cheese on French bread. They replaced the traditional sweet pickle on it with dill pickle. My Roast beef had onions and white cheddar cheese on it and horseradish sauce. The sauce could have been a little tangier. The sandwiches were large and easily handled our hunger. We ended with a world’s smallest ice cream cone. YUM. Of course we will be back.

Went back to this place for the second time and were not let down. We were in town for a ball game and were cutting it close on time but wanted to eat before heading to the stadium. Our waitress noticed our cards shirts and asked if we were going to the game and let us know she would make sure we got out of there on time and sure enough she did, despite a huge rush midway through the meal. I got the Cuban again which may be the best sandwich on the planet. Husband got a Blackhawk sandwich, which was good but it was a cold cut… maybe he just didn’t read the menu but he was expecting it to be hot. Either way it was good, although probably won’t order it again. He also got the dill pickle soup, which he says he would«travel to the end of the earth for», it’s that good. For dessert we had a Nutty Irishman. It was covered in HUGE pecans and a huge whipped topping. Could’ve eaten about 10 more if we had time.

A few of my friends and I were visiting St. Louis and Stopped here on a hot Saturday to get some ice cream; little did We know that this place is a heaven for those who have a sweet tooth. We were there specifically for desserts, still, we were seated to order off a menu. Service was super attentive and polite and the choices for ice cream were endless. Upon check-in on Unilocal,we also got the world’s smallest ice cream which was a cute little ice cream cone with your choice of ice cream flavor. I also ordered vanilla deluxe and chocolate and they both tasted very good. The other people in my party ordered milkshake; not only do you get your full glass of milkshake, but they will also bring you whatever is left from mixing in the shaker, so order one and you will probably end up sharing it with someone else. This place has a unique interior and the fact that you sit down to order ice cream makes it just fancy and adorable.

What a really fun and unique place! Dark, romantic décor and the booth seats come equipped with a radio play! A dramatic soap opera involving an affair between a nurse and s doctor. My husband and I made a trip here last week for our first visit after one of his coworkers told him that we just needed to get ourselves one of their epic sundaes! Our waiter was crazy awesome! Very chill and very friendly and ready to blow us away with Fountain magic. My husband started with the Dark and Sinister, but chocolate by itself isn’t really his thing. So he ordered a second sundae — Three Coins in the Fountain — and he fell in love! If you want mint ice cream, this is definitely the way to go! I got Chocolate Brownie Cake in a Cup with Black Cherry ice cream instead of plain old vanilla. It was pretty big and pretty yummy. I can’t say the brownie was anything special, but the Black Cherry ice cream and hot fudge made it all come together. Especially considering the huge chunks of actual cherries that I found bite after bite. I would say that this place has very similar sundaes to Crown Candy as far as serving size and quality are concerned. So if you want that kind of food, but want more of a dark romantic spot, this is the place for you!

Pros: Good food Good service Nice décor Easy menu Cons: Street parking You probably have to wait on a table Small soup bowls More details: Came here with a neighbor who highly recommended it. I think the interior is pretty snazzy, different yet cozy. The menu is easy to read and understand. I ordered a Pick Two which consisted of a ½ sandwich and a cup of soup. The sandwich I selected was their grilled cheese which was pretty darn epic. I can’t recall the cheese blend but it has thinly sliced apples which are totally unexpected but rock in every way you could imagine. The soup was an asparagus soup and my only wish was that it would’ve been served within a larger bowl cause it was really good. I finished my meal with a toasted almond ice cream cone… perfect ending to a good dinner. Can’t wait to come back.

There’s something for everyone at The Fountain on Locust: ice cream cocktails, made-from-scratch soups, sundaes, chopped salads, Moroccan pot pie, the World’s Smallest Ice Cream Cone, retro cocktails, sandwiches… but I would suggest that you best bring your sweet tooth, because you’ll want to save room for some ice cream. Surprisingly, I was most impressed with the soups. I was able to try all three soups that were available that day – dill pickle, black bean, asparagus – and I could have eaten the asparagus soup all day. Although some may argue that it’s just a simple, broth-based cup of soup with chunks of asparagus, it was executed well. Runner Up: Mr. K’s Special salad. It was the first time I had a salad dressed with pesto, but it will not be the last! Next time, I’m coming in for an ice cream cocktail and a sundae. From what I can tell there’s no such thing as too much ice cream at The Fountain on Locust!
